Free Gift part verse we all know.'It is the grace and free gift of God...'Need-To-Do-Something Part:'Whosoever does not forsake everything he has, cannot be my disciple. Whosoever has ears to hear, let him hear.''Which of you intending to build a tower does not sit down first...''Whosoever does not bear his cross...''In watchings and fastings often, in hunger and thirst, labouring and necessities, naked-cold. I write these things not to shame you, but to WARN you, for though you have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have you not many fathers, therefore i beseech you, be ye followers of me.'Question: If we need to do something (sow to our spirit), then it does'nt sound like FREE gift...which is a contradiction to me. Because FREE means we don't need to do anything except not doing evil.
This is works not grace, Eternal life is given to the elect by grace..the evidence of this free gift, discipleship is also a gift from christ..Christ gives eternal life to as many as the father gave him....Jn 17: 2As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. For you or anyone to make the gift of eternal life to be contingent upon disciplship is a false gospel..
