I have taken the following verses out of the NT Bible that mention speaking in tongues. I will make comments after each group. My comments are my opinions about what they mean. You have the right to disagree but what I am posting is what I believe.
17 "And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;
18 "they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."
My comments >> Some Churches teach that in verse 17 the tongues mentioned are a special language that only God knows. I don't believe that. I believe, that the tongues spoken about, is a person,...
Hello I have been involved in a debate in the testimony forum. http://www.christianityboard.com/forum/47-testimonial-forum/
Its getting out of hand and like most disccussions it has grown all out of proportion.
This is the heart of the discussion,
Are tounges for all its really simple yes or no question if you know the scriptures in reguard to tounges.
We Have one side of the debate saying God Does Not Want All Speaking In Tounges. And uses this verse as proof.
Proof being that clearly all dont have these gifts
1Cor 12:30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?
The other side quotes this verse
1Cor 14:5 I would that ye...
I.) Some background
The book of Hebrews is definitely addressed to Christians. (Heb.3:1) " Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling..." (Heb. 6:4) ...and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost." (Heb. 10:19) "Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter..."
Not only is the book of Hebrews addressed to Christians, these Christians are Jewish Christians. Thus the title of the book, Hebrews. The writer of the book of Hebrews, who I firmly believe is Paul, and therefore from here on out will refer to the writer as Paul, assumes that those he is writing to have a working and experiential knowledge of the Mosaic Law and the sacrificial system which was centered on the Temple in Jerusalem. And when the letter of...
"It is the bounden duty of every Christian to pray against Antichrist, and as to what Antichrist is NO SANE MAN ought to raise the question. If it be not the Popery in the Church of Rome, there is nothing in the world that can be called by that name (Antichrist). If there were to be issued a hue and cry for Antichrist, we should certainly take up this Church on suspicion, and it would certainly not be let loose again, FOR IT SO EXACTLY ANSWERS THE DESCRIPTION."
--- Charles Spurgeon
According to the great Charles Spurgeon, anyone who subscribes to "Jesuit Futurism" aka "Left Behind Theology" which essentially teaches that Antichrist is a...
we must tell or be told that most Christians have been or are on this broad road for non repented or seemingly non repentable unforgiveable sin of blasphemy against the H/S in claiming inspiration, guidance and indwelling by the H/S producing fruits of division, divergence, differences, disputes, confusion, chaos and much worse and attributing this to the H/S -twinc
If you can see it, all the persecutions of true Christians has come from the religious. In this writing I am going to point out what I see in religions.
James 1:27 (NKJ)
27 Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.
The above verse tells us what true religion is. But religions as we know them today do not fit into the above definition. It would seem that looking after the orphans and widows in their trouble is an after thought of most religions. Nor is there anyone that can keep him/her self unspotted from the world.
Even in the days of the Tower of Babble men made up religions based on their imaginations. Each religion...
