This OP is for attempting a combined participation from those who are desiring to know more about the permanency of faith and salvation. I am presenting a couple passages to attempt to initiate interest in others who might desire to list whatever passages they can find relating to this issue that we can analyze together. The reason for my interest in dealing more with this issue is due to the fact that I believe it is the most significant Bible doctrine related to spiritual growth in the “image of Christ.”
“For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ . . .” They can obtain mental peace (escape) merely through knowing (but not understanding) Christ’s...
This is a debate forum and things get said that could and often should be considered as harsh. But, for the record...most of us here LOVE THE CATHOLICS. Do we disagree on things? Yes, but we do so as parent and child. Allow me to explain:
We are indeed the children of the fathers of the church...but we all have not taken the same path as our parents. Which is not to say that we have left off from following God, but have rather taken a different fork in the road, a different path. You see, the passages that Catholics sight as the reason for what they believe, claiming that Christ said He would build His church on the rock otherwise know as Peter...also says something else. In fact the whole passage is about "how" Jesus would build His...

Yes. Its another crucixion/resurrection thread! And I am starting it because some points I have made have gone undressed. Or, if they have been adressed I missed them. Easy to do with multiple pages on the subject. If anyone did address it and I missed it, I apologize.
I am flat out stating that the phrase "3 days and 3 nights" is not an idiom. I am looking to show my evidence for that. I have 2 pieces of evidence to put forth:
1. Ester 4.
This is not hard to show other than the fact that those who believe the phrase is an idiom use this verse to prove so. But they are wrong.
Esther 4:16 KJV
Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I...
Rebirth - Salvation and Conversion
It seems that many folks do not see the rebirth (by God) experience and event in their lives as ONLY the FIRST spiritual life-changing experience. There is a SECOND experience; it is the necessary conversion process (by the saved one) as true believers in Christ.
Some folks even get this ‘saved’ part wrong. They think they are still BEING SAVED.
They are saved, period! DONE
Whether they realize it or not, they ARE NOW BEING CONVERTED, it is the SECOND event that WE do with God. And it is not all about God’s spirit doing all the work of perfection/ conversion without our say in the matter. We can ‘will’ to allow God to increase our faith as the new seed increases in ‘size’ within us. Or we can...

Why try to limit God when He wants to bless you?? God has no shortage of wealth, He even uses gold to pave His city streets!!
Many a church leader is of the opinion that a full-time Pastor or any other ministry gift, should not work or engage in any personal business. These include those just starting up a church, with very few members and those who are called to public evangelism.
I have discussed and debated this issue with a few church leaders, called into “full-time” ministry; and most of them argue that someone called to be a full-time gospel minister shouldn’t work…
But after a while, these same leaders, after going through some financial challenges, eventually bend to my position and start doing some business to take care of their families.
While others that hold on strongly to the notion that God doesn’t want them to work at all, eventually end-up...
With the recent spate of disagreement and debate between Catholics and Protestants, I thought I would venture into new territory. Something that doctrinally, they agree on. Sunday sacredness. The following is an abridged catechism from the 17th century, the full version of which was fully accepted with the church as reflecting accurately the teachings of the Council of Trent.
"QUESTION: How prove you that the Church hath power to command feasts and holydays?
"ANSWER: By the very act of changing the Sabbath into Sunday, which Protestants allow of; and therefore they fondly contradict themselves, by keeping Sunday strictly, and breaking most other feasts commanded by the same Church.
"QUESTION: How prove you that?

2 Cor 4:4 In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

"I'm 100% responsible for my teaching"
Was posted by a member on another thread. My respect for that poster has gone up because of that statement.
How many of us realize that this is so for anyone who would lead some of Christ's sheep?
Consider Matt 18:6
Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.
Consider then, how careful should we be in posting our own private opinions as Truth...
Peace be with you!
