Understanding Christ's Natures
Here is the catholic teaching about the Incarnation and Jesus two natures, please read all, not just the bold and italics.
Second Council of Constantinople, Can. 9: “… [those who] mix together the divinity and the humanity, shall speak monstrously of one only nature or essence of the united (natures), and so worship Christ, and does not venerate, by one adoration, God the Word made man, together with his flesh, as the Holy Church has taught from the beginning: let him be anathema.”
Council of Ephesus: “Confessing the Word to be made one with the flesh according to substance, we adore one Son and Lord Jesus Christ:...
‘Ro 4:3 — "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.'” God came to Abram and said that He would give Abram a land that He would show him. Abram wasn't declared righteous because he believed the promise though he did believe in the land and that God could give it to him. He was declared righteous because he believed what God told him he must do in order to receive the land!
In the same way, we are not saved by believing the gospel, the Bible, in eternal life and that God can give that to us, etc. — we are saved by obeying what God tells us we must to in order to receive those gifts which is "REPENT towards God and FAITH in Christ" (Acts 20:21, cf. Acts 17:30, 26:20, 2:38).
Now you can...
I was reading the intro to Galations in my Ryrie Bible the other day and in it he says, "Man is too weak to accomplish self-salvation of self-sanctifcation. … Paul's answer was to proclaim justification by faith plus nothing."
That is far from what he preached! In Acts 26:20 Paul says, "But I showed first to them of Damascus [and everywhere he preached]… that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet of repentance." In Acts 17:30 he was even more forceful. "And the times of this ignorance [of God] God winked at; but now has commanded all men every where to repent." Putting it into the correct order, Paul said in Acts 21:20, "Testifying to both the Jews and also to the Greeks, REPENTANCE toward God, and FAITH toward...
Just wait a second!
How did the world really begin? Well, the answer to this question varies as much as there are enough people to answer it.
The scientist would tell you that it was caused by evolution. While the christians would respond with "God".
If God created everything, who created God?
Did God Create Himself?
Again, this was brought up in a thread, but to discuss it would have derailed the Topic.
Insights into why free will?
I am surprised at a current story on CBN news about a Jewish woman who was saved after an angel preached the gospel and witnessed Jesus to her over a long period of time.
Some how if an angel is mentioned it is assumed it is from God. Any phenomenon that directs attention to the away from the savior is not from God. Period. The woman Alyse Merritt, has written a book about this. I don't buy it.
The angels desire to look into these things but are not called to preach. All that glitters is not from God.
Exerpt from testimony;
"A man who was literally about seven feet tall with piercing blue eyes one day came in. He had a white Bible that was huge. It was about the size of a family Bible and he started telling me the gospel from...
