Read: John 2:1-11; 4:1-42
This act in Cana of Galilee was the first sign Jesus gave, the first glimpse of his glory. And his disciples believed in him.
John 2:11 MSG
Jesus answered, “If you knew the generosity of God and who I am, you would be asking me for a drink, and I would give you fresh, living water.”
John 4:10 MSG
--------
This beginning of His signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory, and His disciples believed in Him.
John 2:11 NASB
Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”
John 4:10 NASB1995
Wow, that reads pretty different. I picked the scriptures out from the passages that I believe helps me to focus on Jesus and His gift to us. These passages are about Jesus first miracle, turning water into wine, and the samaritan woman at the well.
I like how the Message names the gift of generosity. It was out of Jesus' generosity, (and honoring momma), that He performed His first miracle in turning water into wine.
It is out of God's abundant generosity that living water is offered to any who believe and accept this gift. That is such cause of excitement. Id be telling everyone too. Oh wait...yep. Im sure I do. :) I even forget my waterpot on occasion. ^_^
