Mark 14:55-64
And the chief priests and all the council sought for witness against Jesus to put him to death; and found none.

...For many bare false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together. (Would bold if I knew how in blogs) For many bare false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together.

And there arose certain, and bare false witness against him, saying, We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands.

...But neither so did their witness agree together.

And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee? But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?

And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses? [64] Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death.

The Son of the blessed! The high priest stood “in the midst.” In Matthew 18:19-20 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

HE, THE High Priest is in the midst of them; when two or more agree in His name.

Mark 14:65-71
[65] And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the servants did strike him with the palms of their hands. [66] And as Peter was beneath in the palace, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest: [67] And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and said, And thou also wast with Jesus of Nazareth. [68] But he denied, saying, I know not, neither understand I what thou sayest. And he went out into the porch; and the cock crew. [69] And a maid saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, This is one of them. [70] And he denied it again. And a little after, they that stood by said again to Peter, Surely thou art one of them: for thou art a Galilaean, and thy speech agreeth thereto. [71] But he began to curse and to swear, saying, I know not this man of whom ye speak.

Her witness: which “thy speech agreeth thereto.” But he began to curse and to swear, saying “I know not this man of whom you speak.

Matthew 26:72-74
[72] And again he denied with an oath, I do not know the man. [73] And after a while came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them; for thy speech bewrayeth thee. [74] Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew.

Peter’s witness: he denied with an oath “I do not know the man.” Her witness “thy speech bewrayeth you.”

Bewrayeth: betray

Okay, sure this could mean the obvious in Peter’s “Galilaean” accent betrayed Peter. But consider the question: does your speech agree with Him who accuses the brethren? Does your speech agree with the Lord? Pretty strong that Peter took an oath and then began to curse and to swear “I know not Him you speak of.”

James 3:5-6
[5] Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! [6] And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

... “a world of iniquity.”
“ ...boasted great things.”
“...that defiles the whole body and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.”

Matthew 15:11-20
Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.

Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, ...after they heard this saying?

But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up. Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch. Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable.

And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding? Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught? But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.

^false witness” ...that is scary. Does our speech bewrayeth (betray) us? Is our speech “a world of iniquity”? Is our speech the accuser of the brethren?

...For many bare false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together.
