  2. EXUDING THE ESSENCE OF CHRIST

There must be an experiential quality to our walk with the Lord. Not only do we experience Him in a tangible way but we also exude the SPIRITUAL LIGHT that has been deposited within us to reach out and take a spiritual interest in the lives of others. "You are the light of the world...Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it gives light unto all that are in the house...Let your light shine before men..." - John 5:14-16
  3. LIVING IN GOD'S PRESENCE

Some believers struggle with pity and overvalue emotion. Scripture reveals that faith, more than tears, moves the heart of God. The Lord wants to develop an intimate, mature relationship with these emotionally-driven believers, but unless they die to self-pity and selfishness, their self-absorbed tears will blind them to the ministry of the Spirit and the needs of others. "And without faith it is impossible to please God." - Hebrews 11:6 God designed you to be a powerful part of His...
  4. FOCUSING ON GOD'S PURPOSE FOR YOUR LIFE

Leave outcomes up to God. Follow the Holy Spirit wherever He leads, without worrying about how it will all turn out. Think of your life as an adventure, with Him as your Guide and Companion. Live in the now, concentrating on staying in step with Him. When our path leads to a cliff, be willing to climb it with His help. When we come to a resting place, take time to be refreshed in His Presence. Enjoy the rhythm of life lived close to Him. You already know the ultimate destination of your...

  6. BUILDING OUR LIVES ON THE ROCK

God promises to give us a firm foundation in shaky times, and He also promises to make our feet like those of a mountain deer, able to not only stand on this firm foundation but scale the highest heights of the Spirit – above the chaos of this world. Christ warns us that if we build our lives on shifting sands instead of the solid rock of God's Word, we can expect devastation (see Matthew 7:24-29). The Spirit of God has set before us guidelines for releasing Divine Wisdom to us in order to...
  7. PEOPLE PLEASING

When you are around other people, you may tend to cater to their expectations—real or imagined. You feel enslaved to pleasing them, and your awareness of His Presence grows dim. Your efforts to win their approval eventually exhaust you. You may offer these people dry crumbs rather than the living water of His Spirit flowing through you. This is not His way! Stay in touch with Him, even during your busiest moments. Let His Spirit give you words of grace as you live in the Light of His Peace....
  8. STEPPING OUT OF DARKNESS AND DESPAIR

The first step out of darkness and despair is simply asking for God's grace and guidance. Sincerely seek His direction and His will above your own. We must desire to walk in God's light (see 1 John 1:5). Asking is key; we have not because we ask not. If we ask, we shall receive. As we seek, we shall find; it is as sure as the sun rising in the morning (see Luke 11:9). God is faithful to His Word. He is generous beyond what anyone can imagine, and our generous, loving, and kindhearted Father...

  10. HEADING THE VOICE OF GOD

"When Eliab, David's oldest brother, heard him speaking with the men, he burned with anger at him and asked 'Why have you come down here? And with whom did you leave those few sheep in the desert? I know how conceited you are and how wicked your heart is; you came down only to watch the battle.' 'Now what have I done?' said David. 'Can't I even speak?' He then turned away to someone else and brought up the same matter..."' - 1 Samuel 17:28-30 If David had listened to his brother...
  11. STIR YOURSELF UP

"Let there be light; and there was light." - Genesis 1:3 What God wants in the earth today may not be in sight. But when His Word goes forth, it becomes a reality. He is looking for vessels through whom His Word will be spoken so that He can do what He has not yet done. STIR YOURSELF UP We often lose by being silent. We don't lift our voice and speak the Word enough. We have to stir ourselves up and declare that God's Word is true even when we don't feel like it. We have to say "by...
  12. I LIFT UP MY EYES TO THE HILLS

As you look at the day before you, you see a twisted, complicated path, with branches going off in all directions. You wonder how you can possibly find your way through that maze. Then you remember the One who is with you always, holding you by your right hand. You recall His promise to guide you with His counsel, and you begin to relax. As you look again at the path ahead, you notice that a peaceful fog has settled over it, obscuring your view. You can see only a few steps in front of you,...
  13. PUTTING SPACE BETWEEN YOU AND YOUR CONCERN

Approach problems with a light touch. When your mind moves toward a problem area, you tend to focus on that situation so intensely that you lose sight of who you are in Christ. You pit yourself against the difficulty as if you had to conquer it immediately. Your mind gears up for battle, and your body becomes tense and anxious. Unless you achieve total victory, you feel defeated. There is a better way. When a problem starts to overshadow your thoughts, bring this matter to Him. Talk with...
  14. TAKING AUTHORITY

It's time to break out. It's time to step on up and come out of the "house" into the streets. It's time to take authority over your circumstances. No more self-abasement, nor more thinking, "I can't do this." You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. Elijah's mission was to awaken the Israelites to their apostasy, backsliding, lukewarmness, and to call them back to loyalty to God. Are you a Reformer? Believe God for the impossible and you too like Elijah will...
  15. FULLNESS TO DWELL IN HIM

He loved us enough to leave His Father in Heaven, and He expects no less from us - asking us to abandon all other loves for Him. As His followers, we are to treat everything else as lesser in comparison to Him, the greater. "If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters - yes, even his own life - he cannot be my disciple. - Luke 14:26
