Job 41:1 asks, "Can you draw out Leviathan with a hook?"

The Hebrew word Leviathan actually means "to mourn." The enemy's strategy has been to get the Church into a place of mourning over things that have gone against us and immobilize us with a sense of fatalism or hopelessness. He is called the King of the children of pride. He is arrogant, brings crooked communications, strife and division, prayerlessness, fear, apathy and passivity due to an intimidation factor.

Scripture says, "I will turn your mourning into dancing...I will turn your sorrow into joy...I will turn the curse into a blessing for you because I love you, says the Lord." We must shake ourselves from grief and mourning and rejoice because God is taking everything meant for our evil and turning it for our good!

Perhaps man cannot defeat Leviathan, but clearly God can. If we will just show up in this spiritual confrontation with Leviathan, being careful to recognize we do not battle against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers, if we will show up, God will delight in showing off His superior powers to bring about Leviathan's defeat!

1 Samuel 17:38,39 - "And Saul armed David with his armor, and he put a helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail (armor made of metal plates) and David girded his sword upon his armor, and he tried to go but could not, for he was not used to it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him."

DAVID WAS SAYING, "I CAN'T USE THESE THINGS; I HAVEN'T PROVED THEM."

HOW MANY TIMES IN SPIRITUAL BATTLE DO WE TRY TO USE EVERYTHING WE CAN GET OUR HANDS ON - EXCEPT THE WORD OF GOD?

WE TRY TO FIND ANSWERS IN OUR OWN STRENGTH. WE TRY TO SOLICIT HELP FROM OTHERS OR TRY TO WORK IT OUT OURSELVES. IT SEEMS WE'RE AFRAID TO TRUST THE WORD OF GOD, AND IT'S THE GREATEST WEAPON WE COULD EVER HAVE.

Matthew 6:33 -- "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."

Therefore, our number one priority every day is to seek the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. IT IS NOT TO SEEK TO ADD THESE THESE THINGS TO OURSELVES.

But what is righteousness? Righteousness is not right behavior. It is right standing with the Father. It is the clearance of all your guilt, which makes you able to stand before God. It is not something you get through right behavior. It is a GIFT from God. Paul calls it "the gift of righteousness" (Romans 5:17). And to "seek" this gift is to be CONSCIOUS OF THE FACT THAT YOU HAVE IT -- TO CONFESS THAT YOU ARE RIGHTEOUS IN CHRIST.

At the cross, Jesus didn't just remove our sins, He gave us His righteousness so that today, we can come boldly before the throne of God and receive freely everything that He died to give us!

AFFIRMATIONS:

I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. (2 Corinthians 5:21)

I seek the righteousness of Jesus, not my own righteousness.
