Read: Matthew 18:21-19:15

“The king summoned the man and said, ‘You evil servant! I forgave your entire debt when you begged me for mercy. Shouldn’t you be compelled to be merciful to your fellow servant who asked for mercy?’ The king was furious and put the screws to the man until he paid back his entire debt. And that’s exactly what my Father in heaven is going to do to each one of you who doesn’t forgive unconditionally anyone who asks for mercy.”

Matthew 18:32‭-‬35 MSG

Thoughts: forgiveness is so easy when all you have to think about is a hundred thousand dollar debt to a ten dollar debt. It makes me feel a bit sad to think of the bv years I spent in anger and unforgiveness. Unforgiveness is a prison by itself. When I forgave, I felt completely free. I am very thankful for the huge debt that Christ forgave me of.

Jesus said, “Moses provided for divorce as a concession to your hard heartedness, but it is not part of God’s original plan. I’m holding you to the original plan, and holding you liable for adultery if you divorce your faithful wife and then marry someone else. I make an exception in cases where the spouse has committed adultery.”

But Jesus said, “Not everyone is mature enough to live a married life. It requires a certain aptitude and grace. Marriage isn’t for everyone. Some, from birth seemingly, never give marriage a thought. Others never get asked—or accepted. And some decide not to get married for kingdom reasons. But if you’re capable of growing into the largeness of marriage, do it.”

Matthew 19:8‭-‬9‭, ‬11‭-‬12 MSG

Thoughts: Marriage is something I definitely have experience in. I love the wording here, because it does take a certain aptitude and grace. I have grown a lot since getting married. My husband is a bit introverted, so he never minded me going out and hanging with friends all the time still when we first got married. He is also a very quiet man. So 1) had to learn how to read body language 2) act on that body language and do what I knew was best for us. Which back then, it was cutting back being with friends a lot. And shortly after I did that, we had been trying for kids for awhile and I got pregnant with my daughter. So it is definitely a learning process, and I am so grateful for my husband and our marriage. As we grow closer to God, we will grow closer to each other.
