We received our spiritual faculties at the time of our salvation. It is our responsibility to develop these by spending quality time with the Lord, and by cultivating their use.
"He gives power to the faint; and to them that have no might He increases strength...But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint" - Isaiah 40:29;31.
To "wait upon the Lord" means that we actively "wait" in His presence (come apart, become quiet, and look up in an attitude of expectancy and worship), until all earthly activity ceases and we are lifted up into the activity of the spiritual realm, where our spiritual being is edified and developed.
"It is the spirit that quickens; the flesh profits nothing: the words that I speak to you, they are spirit, and they are life." - John 6:63
To develop our spiritual hearing we must do several things:
"He gives power to the faint; and to them that have no might He increases strength...But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint" - Isaiah 40:29;31.

To develop our spiritual hearing we must do several things:
- Set apart quality time to "wait upon Jesus."
- In an attitude of worshipful anticipation, out loud, ask the Lord to increase our ability to hear, spiritually. Then give Him permission to remove anything that might be a hindrance.
- Then wait in His presence, believing with expectancy that our spiritual hearing will improve, and we will more clearly perceive His presence and hear His voice.
