"And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him."

Have you ever tried to be pleasing to someone you love, especially when you know that "someone" loves you very much, and you wouldn't dare hurt him or her? At one point in this love affair you keep wondering what else you could do to prove your faithfulness to that loved one, as if everything you have done was not enough.

The verse above tells it plainly that without faith it is impossible to be pleasing to God, and if there are any other passages that talk on this subject, it t would be clear from them that the ideas therein are supporting ideas of this verse. For example, Ephesians 2:10 NIV says "For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.". The question arising from this is "How can anyone do the 'good works, which God prepared for us in advance' if one will not believe that he is God's creation and takes for granted His greatest gift to us--salvation?" Therefore, all the good works one would do would be nothing more than "dirty rags",.

There are other passages which indicate that faith is the first thing required in our relationship with God, but none of them puts it as clearly as Hebrews 11:6, and the most important thing to remember is that faith without actions is dead. Just saying that you believe is not enough; in order to show your faith, you must believe that the One you put your faith in us real and act on what you believe. This is when your experience with God will turn into something different and you will experience the power of faith. And this is what God wants for you--to experience His power as you have a pleasing relationship with Him and those He placed in your life to live.
