Joshua and his men shortly arrived home after defeating his opponents in battle. Then Joshua suspected that their were spies roaming about the country and sent his men to Rahab's house to help discover the truth. Once the men were safely secured at Rahab's house she held the men captive for a certain period of time. While the men were held captive, Rahab established a covenant with the spies that would help save her family and keep the spies held captive. The covenant involved Rahab's family and the spies safely escaping down a () with the red rope tied to Rahab's window. Then everyone carefully escaped down and were free to go their separate ways after avoiding the (three day guards coming).
