The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; but whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him:

But whoever has the world’s goods, and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him? Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth.

Thoughts: These verses show love to be an action word. God's example was Christ on the cross. I realize I can never outdue that or want to ever try. I just owe Him my entire life. His great love for me overflows from me to others in deed and truth. I want to always keep the Lord's commands and do, because I have a great love for Him. Without Him, my life would not be worth living. I want my finances, my belongings, and my actions, be used to show love to others. And for God,not only these things, but my worship and songs of praise also.
