Proverbs 6:20-28
[20] My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother: [21] Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck. [22] When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee. [23] For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life: [24] To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman. [25] Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids. [26] For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life. [27] Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned? [28] Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned?

“Lust not after her beauty in your heart.” ...the flattery of the tongue of the strange woman...wooing us into her web of deceit. It is a trap. It is a pit that leads a man to FALL into lust which conceives and brings for death. “For BY means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life.

“...and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life.” What is this precious life?

Matthew 5:27-29
[27] Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: [28] But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. [29] And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

Consider he that looks after the woman (the world with the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the pride of life) and lust after her(this whorish woman) he longs and lusts after, he has committed adultery with her already in his heart. Wanting her. Desiring her. Tempted of her allure. (Proverbs 7:26-27) For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men have been slain by her. [27] Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.

You see...it is our looking with envy at the world with all her temptations of gratification in the immediate that are considered as committing ‘adultery already in the heart’. This makes me consider Paul’s words in Hebrews Where he tells them they had took ‘joyfully’ the spoiling of their goods...”knowing in yourselves that you have in heaven a better and enduring substance.”

Mark 4:17-19
[17] And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended. [18] And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word, [19] And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

THE CARES OF THIS WORLD...AND THE DECEITFULNESS OF RICHES ...
CHOKE the word.
CHOKE gives us such a vivid picture of what cares of the world and deceit do.
Another word used in these passages is ...DROWN.

The only other time the word CHOKE is used in the word of God is where the swine were feeding. (Matthew 8:30)And there was a good way off from them an herd of many swine feeding.

A GREAT herd of swine were feeding...

Mark 5:11-14
[11] Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding. [12] And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them. [13] And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand; and were choked in the sea. [14] And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.

...and they ran VIOLENTLY down a steep place into the sea....and were choked. In other passages. Drowned. Same as what happens by the cares of this world and deceit...it is chokes or drowns the word.

1 Timothy 6:9-11
[9] But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. [10] For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. [11] But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

“And the fruits that thy soul lusted after are departed from thee, and all those things which were dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and thou shall find them no more. (Revelation 18:14-17)

Consider those swine feeding...
Consider those FEEDING the swine.
His word says when those which FED the swine saw what was done by Jesus, they fled. “And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.”

Isaiah 65:4-5 Which remain among the graves, and lodge in the monuments, which eat swine's flesh, and broth of abominable things is in their vessels; [5] Which say, Stand by thyself, come not near to me; for I am holier than thou. These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burneth all the day.

Isaiah 66:15-18
[15] For, behold, the Lord will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire. [16] For by fire and by his sword will the Lord plead with all flesh: and the slain of the Lord shall be many. [17] They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the midst, eating swine's flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the Lord . [18] For I know their works and their thoughts: it shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory.

“Eating swines flesh.” Remember the return of the Son who had wasted all his living. Luke 15:14-17 And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want. [15] And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. [16] And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him. [17] And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!

He was sent into his field to feed the swine.
He would have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat...
But no one gave to him.
I’m thankful and blessed that God didn’t give me all my worldly desires, and there can be a lot of them. There was a time I cried daily to have what I wanted out of the world. I couldn’t understand why it seemed as if God Himself prevented me from having the things I wanted: fame, power, possessions, money, abundance of energy and time to build an empire and a name for myself. Everything I pushed and strove for ...always, always failed.

John 8:44
[44] Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

“...abode not in truth.”

John 14:23
[23] Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our ‘abode’ with him.

James 4:1-10
[1] From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? [2] Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. [3] Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. [4] Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. [5] Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy? [6] But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. [7] Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. [8] Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. [9] Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. [10] Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

Be afflicted.
Mourn.
Weep.
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He shall lift you up.
