This is in response to a comment made by Curtis under the post, “The Last Days that began in 1914 are now coming to their End…” By Brother Rando

Sometimes people get a bit confused over the term, “the last days”. This is a broad term and can apply in many different ways.

It can apply to the last days of this “present evil world”, (2 Pet 3:7), the “Gospel age” as whole, as for example,

Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times (not necessarily the very last days, but to the times subsequent to those in which the apostle was writing) some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.” (1 Tim 4:1-3)

But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (2 Tim 3:1-7)

And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows (birth pains). Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved.” (Matt 24:6-13)

These are things which have transpired all throughout the Gospel age and are not merely confined to its end.

However, there are certain events which are to take place specifically in the last days of the Gospel age, here we only mention a few of the more prominent ones, viz.,

1) The “Second Advent”,

“…knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming (Greek Parousia: presence)? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.” (2 Pet 3:3, 4)

2) The “Harvest”, of the wheat and the tares takes place at the end of the age (Matt 13:39).

3) “The First Resurrection”, the resurrection of the sleeping saints, and of all those that remain alive who successfully complete their consecration (sacrifice), being found faithful unto death. (Psa 50:5; Rom 12:1; Rev 2:10)

But you (Daniel), go your way till the end; for you shall rest (sleep in death until the resurrection), and will arise to your inheritance at the end of the days.” (Dan 12:13)

“But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep (died), lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus, we shall always be with the Lord.” (1 Thess 4:13-17)

In our next post we will take a look at the fourth primary event of the last days, the Great Time of Trouble.
