See post #19, sounds like you need to back up your stance with scripture, cause I don't think anyone preaches that credibly. The only people that aren't self reliant are priests that rely on donations. We are self reliant with Gods help so we can sustain our church congregation. We all have a place and a purpose, but ours is self reliant.

The kingdom of God is not about eating and drinking nor about the assertion that money is needed for eating and drinking, as He fed and gave drink to people who had carried great wealth with them into the desert but they did not need that money, nor could they have bought provision with that wealth. Conversely, He also provided for the widow and her son, who did NOT have wealth. So in neither of those cases did having money or not having money have any effect on God providing. The kingdom of God is also not about a lot of talking but about power - the power of God. The kingdom of God is not about the power of self reliance.

Okay,
you go gather the scriptures where Jesus spoke about and preached self reliance and I will gather the ones where He spoke about and preached the opposite and we will compare them.
Give the verses from our Lords mouth where He preached self reliance and we will have a conversation about what you aver.

I see no difference between Israel in the desert and us, since we make the same exact mistakes.
Interesting. Are you one of those people that preaches that we should sell all and give to the poor and follow after Christ. Or are you the type that supports working for a living, maintaining a place of residence and supports your local priest clergy?

God has given me some work to do with my own hands and I do it.
I am also one of those people who believes if we want to follow Him we must sell all we have and pick up our cross and follow Him if we want that one thing we lack.
But what I DONT recommend is to ever lie and say we have sold all and given all when we haven’t. Annais and Sephira show us the folly of that!
God desires that men be truthful. If the truth is that you haven’t sold all you have then just be truthful.

Its all over the bible where we are not to have confidence in ourselves , but trust soley in God .
And i mean ALL OVER the bible . Yes indeed . LET THE GLORIOUS LORD BE PRAISED .
Lean not unto thine own understanding . Even paul knew , i trust not in my own judgment .
TRUST IN THE LIVING GOD . For in truth He alone gives and He alone takes away , OH BUT BLESSED BE HIS NAME .
Most folks get angry with GOD and mumble and grumble when things go not their way , but that is because
they trusted in the things and not rather the THINGS OF GOD .
I have watched many a person wreck havoc upon themselves . See, even JOB was rich
but HE didnt trust in those riches . WHEN GOD allowed satan to torment job , Job simply said , THE GOOD LORD GIVES
and the GOOD LORD takes away , BLESSED BE THE LORD .
He even tells his wife , WE have recieved much good from the Lord , should we not also receive the evil , aka the loss of things .

You're confusing clergy with congregation. Jesus said to sell all and follow after him to build a clergy of priests for his church. Common sense tells us that we can't all be clergy.
There are two types in a church body:
1. Those that have sold all and became preachers of the word (the clergy).
2. Those that support the clergy and are the body of the church.
Did Jesus have a job before his ministry started? You bet, he was a carpenter. And I'm sure he paid his tithes to the church.

I could die tonight then whose money will that have been .
And as far as being set for life . I already am . IN JESUS . I can do all things THROUGH HIM . As in Through HIM .
Even dead broke , persecuted and etc , I shall abound in Him . You might not realize this
but you are actually trusting in money .
Your statement says , if you had a million you can invest it and bet set for life .
Mine says , I ALREADY AM RICH and INVESTED IN JESUS with treasures and hopes above and have hope in ETERNAL LIFE .
You need to learn to not trust in your own reasoning and understanding . And to just give it all unto the LORD .
Be encouraged my friend . Just learn well that GOD alone , Christ alone is all we need to trust in .
Amigo, I'm not naive, and if I died, that money would go to my children. So I'm really not sure what your point is.

My point is you do trust in money . You said if you had a million you could be set for life .
ME i say whether i have or whether i lack , I ALREADY AM SET FOR LIFE , CAUSE THE LORD IS MY HOPE and is all i do need .
TRULY HE is all we need . Even if i lacked all , was in prison and ready to be killed . STILL I WOULD HAVE ALL
FOR JESUS IS OUR ALL , AND HE IS WITH THE LAMBS . IN HE ALONE IS OUR HOPE .
Ever been homeless in this modern world Amigo? I have, be careful what you wish for, you might just get it.

I already am homeless in this world . It aint my home anyway . And if by the will of GOD i were made homeless
true christains would share their homes . what is mine is yours and what is yours is mine .
I dont pray for this or that . I simply say , THE WILL OF GOD BE DONE .
Well I've been homeless and also shared my home with the homeless. But if I don't have money then I don't have a home to share.
Let's face it Amigo, Job had riches and still loved God, it's recorded in the bible, and he probably did a lot of good with his riches.
