Yes, sadly. Some say he was on the verge of converting to Catholicism too. (If so maybe it was better for him from an eternal perspective to have left this world early, as tragic as it was.) Very troubling and even makes me angry how the church is leading young people astray from the true gospel.
I tuned in briefly for a couple minutes at a time to his memorial service but couldn't watch much of it......it struck me as being such a strange and surreal mixture of religion and politics. Was it a service before the Lord in His presence or was it a political rally? People need to make up their minds....because that was a mixture of both. Mixture is the unclean thing we are told in scripture to touch not. Mixture of holy and profane/common makes the holy unclean. Even my daughter (who knew the Lord as a child, then put Him on a shelf, and only recently in the last year or so has come back to the Lord) discerned that it was wrong and out of whack.
