It means that we act with wisdom and speak the truth when necessary. We are salt and light in this world according to Scripture ~Matthew 5:13-16. Salt is useless if it is left in the shaker. Light is useless if it is hidden.

Yes, my hope is in God alone. But that does not allow me to sit back and ignore what is happening around me. We hold everything up against the Word, we engage with what is true, and we do not disengage from the responsibility that God has placed on us.

I want to keep this as simple and as Scriptural as possible. You are calling me to warn as you do. The Bible, however, instructs me to warn based on what God has actually written. It says I must “prove all things” ~1 Thessalonians 5: 21 and to “judge righteous judgment” ~John 7:24. I can neither preach nor accuse outside of what Scripture declares.

You then say that if I do not warn the way you do, then I am not standing in my place. Scripture does not say that at all. It instructs me that each believer is accountable to God and no one else ~Romans 14:4. I will speak against evil, but I will not accuse without biblical proof. God commands that in ~1 Timothy 5: 19 and He warns us against bearing false witness in ~Exodus 20:16.

The political platform issue is simple according to the Bible. One side if openly defying things that God has called sin, then a believer cannot side with them. God forbids the taking of innocent life ~Exodus 20:13. God created male and female ~Genesis 1:27. God condemns sexual perversion ~Romans 1:26 through 27. God warns against calling evil good ~Isaiah 5:20. If a platform cheers those sins, it can no longer be an option for someone wanting to honor the Word.

The other side is not perfect. None of them are. My hope is not in man. But when there is only two choices, you choose the one closer to Scripture. Elijah told Israel that standing between two opposing ways is no longer obedience ~1 Kings 18:21. Doing nothing also has a result.

So this is my stance. When God calls something evil, I will call it evil. If Scripture does not say something, I will not add to His Word ~Proverbs 30:6. When forced to choose between two sides that are both less than perfect, I choose the one that is not openly fighting against what God has clearly spoken. That is obedience to the Word and that is what I will do.
