Speaks of the "earnest" (down payment), not the finality. The "earnest" can be abandoned, and blasphemed away - forever.
No, the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is disbelief and denying Jesus Christ altogether, via the unsaved remain unsaved. The true Gospel is confirmed through belief, not works.
Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation:
in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
Mankind can always leave God, which is exactly what your next citation reveals.
Well, born again believers are not the rest of mankind. They are separate from the world and chosen by God to preach the true Gospel, which is Grace salvation.
1 Thessalonians 5:19 KJB - Quench not the Spirit.
A believer can grieve and quench the spirit Eph 4:30, but that does not effect their profession of faith in Rom 10:9. If only it were that easy to lose your salvation, nobody would make it. Instead of God kicking us out of the family, He sanctifies and disciplines us Heb 12.
1 Samuel 16:14 KJB - But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him.
The Holy Spirit had different purposes in the OT vs NT. Samuel existed before Pentecost and before the seal of God, Acts 2:1-4, Eph 1:13-14.
1 Timothy 4:1 KJB - Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
Let me know if you see the contradiction (of non-osas) in the Synoptic Gospels. God bless.
Matt 13:21 (does not use the word believe) (it uses trouble/persecution)
Mark 4:17 (does not use the word believe) (it uses trouble/persecution)
Luke 8:13 (uses the word believe) (aphistémi/depart)
Rom 8:35, 38-39 (nothing can separate us, even trouble/persecution)
1 Tim 4:1 ( aphistémi/depart)
Matt 13:21 But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When
trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away.
Mark 4:17 But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When
trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away.
Luke 8:13 Those on the rocky ground are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root.
They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away.
Rom 8:35, 38-39 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall
trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
1 Tim 4:1 The Spirit clearly says that in later times
some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.
Luke 8:13 / Gill's Exposition of the Entire Bible - which for a while believe: their faith is a temporary one,
like that of Simon Magus; which shows it is not true faith; for that is an abiding grace, Christ, who is the author, is the finisher of it, and prays for it, that it fail not. The Persic version renders it, "in the time of hearing they have faith"; and such sort of hearers there are, who, whilst they are hearing, assent to what they hear, but when they are gone, either forget it, or, falling into bad company, are prevailed upon to doubt of it, and disbelieve it. The Arabic version renders it, "they believe for a small time";
their faith do not continue long, nor their profession of it, both are soon dropped:
Hebrews 6:4 KJB - For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
Hebrews 6:5 KJB - And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
Hebrews 6:6 KJB - If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.
Heb 6:4-6 and Heb 10:26-27 are actually a cross reference for the crucifixion of Christ and is using metaphorical language to describe the maturity of believers in Christ.
Not many understand that Heb 6 thought process actually begins at Heb 5:11.
Heb 5:14
But solid food is for the (mature), who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.
Heb 6:1
Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to (maturity), not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God,
This has nothing to do with losing salvation, less one believes God throws believers into hell for lack of maturity, which is on the borderline of insanity. God bless.
2 Peter 2:20 KJB - For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
This entire chapter is about false prophets and teachers, nonbelievers who had the knowledge of Christ but never came to faith in Him, Rom 10:9.
Rom 8:31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
Rom 8:32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
Rom 8:33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.
Rom 8:34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
Rom 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
Rom 8:36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
Rom 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
Rom 8:38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Rom 8:39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Notice the word "elect" in Rom 8:33. These are His chosen which are born again believers. Also notice the 17 things that cannot separate us from Him, including demons and present and future.
Salvation is based in covenantal relationship, a marriage to Christ Jesus, in decision [and thus entering into baptism], since a person can go from unbelieving to believing to unbelieving if they choose to do so:
1 Corinthians 7:15 KJB - "But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. ..."
As it was in the days of Israel the peoples:
This is referring to not forcing people into an unhappy marriage, an unbeliever remaining with a believer. God calls us to live in peace and not bitterness, and if divorce brings peace then so be it. No, a born again believer cannot go from unbelieving to believing to unbelieving. If they do then never had the root of salvation, which is Jesus Christ himself, 1 Tim 4:1.
1 Cor 7:15-16 But if the unbeliever leaves, let it be so. The brother or the sister is not bound in such circumstances; God has called us to live in peace. 16How do you know, wife, whether you will save your husband? Or, how do you know, husband, whether you will save your wife?
As it was in the days of Israel is no longer. Everything changed with the death, burial and resurrection of Christ, via the blood of Christ saves, not animal sacrifice.
No, we do see those who once believed, who had partaken of the Holy Ghost, and of the powers of the world to come, etc, commit such things, because they blasphemed away the Holy Ghost, just as King Saul did.
and Heb 6, Heb 10 is using figurative language describing the maturity in the believer, less you believe God throws believers into hell for lack of maturity which some might see as satanism? God bless.
