Hello there.... I'm Tanya--- a Catholic Christian Sister, who has dedicated her live to helping others come to know the glory and love of Jesus Christ! I'm 25 years old, grew up in NJ, and I come from a traditional Russian family. I love being American and I am so proud that my parents have taught me about my Russian heritage. I still have family in Russia, Poland, Belarus, as well as, Germany and Brazil. My father is very busy finding new relatives with our last name (it's not a common last name), so we've found other relatives in the United States, Spain, and other countries.
I was baptized and confirmed as a baby in the Russian Orthodox Church--- the faith of my family. In 1997, I dedicated my heart to Jesus Christ the day before Easter (as some Protestants would say, I was Saved) and continued to fellowship with mostly Protestants until 2005. During that time, I was learning more about the Christian faith and I wanted to return to more traditional roots. God blessed me with a wonderful Catholic boyfriend and (along with his parents) we attended Mass together often. Seeing their faith in Catholicism really inspired my own walk into the Catholic faith and during the summer of 2005 I became Roman Catholic. I am very blessed to stand by the centuries of faith, Tradition, and my Saintly family in heaven. Praying the Rosary has gotten me through so many struggles in life, though I am a firm believer that fellowship amongst all Christians is absolutely necessary. God does not want us to be separated-- He wants us to be as one.
My relationship with that Catholic boyfriend ended a few months after I joined the Church and God brought another amazing Christian Brother into my life. By the time we started dating, we had been friends for awhile and he had become my very best friend. Four years after dating we have become engaged and on July 14, 2011 we will be starting our life as husband and wife. During this time, Sean (my fiance) has also joined the Catholic Church and so we will have our wedding in a very beautiful Catholic church in the town over of where I grew up.
I'm also a teacher for grades 3 to 6 and I teach students science in an independent Catholic school. It is my first year at the school (and third year teaching professionally) and while stressful at times, it has been an amazing journey and blessing. It has strengthened my faith by seeing the little ones love the Lord so much and by their hunger to know Christ and the faith. Saying an Our Father, surrounded by young children, really humbles you.
Blessings!
