I was brought up in a strict legalistic religion in Central Illinois. I say religion because it seemed like the elders had the biggest problems with being rule and tradition oriented, more so than the members of the church. But anyway, I strayed away and got involved with a woman 12 years older than me, and when the Holy Spirit did get thru to me where I was agreeing with Him that what I was doing was hurting myself, I broke the 1 year relationship up. I cried out to God like never before. And He delivered me. Not without effects, though. Immediately I started the process of joining the church I had left, but things were not feeling right. I ended up dropping out of college and became functionless as I had my first bout with mental illness. The stress caused an inherent tendency for bipolar schizoaffective. It took 12 years to 'get over' this relationship with this woman. She had multiple boyfriends and married once while I was trying to deal with the pain of separation.<br />

I don't think I really trusted God for salvation until a year or so ago. I had been doing all the right things, but couldn't say I really trusted in God's love. A couple of friends of mine invited me to their nondenominational church and I went, and felt the freedom to go up and talk to the pastor. I'll never be sorry for what I decided.<br />

These days I'm dealing with much physical affliction, and mental; but we have a perfect home waiting for us, as we decide daily to follow Christ.<br />
