    I make my not so long awaited head coaching debut today. Last week I volunteered to coach a Kindergarten basketball team in a league for beginners. (The team was desperate to find a coach and a day or so away from having to drop out if they couldn’t find someone willing to do it.)

    We are the Timberwolves. Ten five year-olds and me, Coach Catherder. I’m six decades older than my players but I feel only a decade older when I’m coaching them; eight decades older after practice and games.
