Christ's Christianity and Paul's Christianity are Not the Same

Again - short answer, No. Depends on the use of the term 'apostle'. By claiming to be an Apostle (capital 'A') he is claiming authority alongside the recognized Apostles. I think Paul is pulling one of the hat on this issue. I have no issue with Paul as an evangelist -...

the term "Christian" is cliche and meaningless today...

... and it not just America - Australia is not far behind. There is a parliamentary inquiry being held into one church with respect to covering up and subverting a police investigation into church organized pedophilia. A detective Inspector came out publicly condemning the church's actions...

Christ's Christianity and Paul's Christianity are Not the Same

The question is - did Paul teach what Jesus taught? Short answer - No. Paul was not an apostle as appointed by Jesus - as far as we know there is no record of Paul having met Jesus although they were contemporaries. It is also obvious that what Paul was teaching was at odds with what the...

... and not just China - anywhere where there is oppression and injustice.

The Church is Not the Source of Truth

Quite so - and it was to this structure I was referring. Are you suggesting such is NOT the case? I think you have to support you ideas with some theological argument. Personal opinion may be interesting but it is just that - personal opinion. Regardless of your opinion there is textual...

Have a look around - the 'fruit' is everywhere - you are just not seeing it because you have put on ideological blinkers.

    Why are Catholics so bad?

If you 'agree' with the Bible I guess you think that slavery should be reintroduced as part of Obama's second term - that stoning wayward daughters should recommenced and live animal sacrifices should happened at the end of your street. Cliches don't work in the twenty-first century...

The Church is Not the Source of Truth

Hi Axehead, Thank you for your comments. My point was that after the Apostles had departed this earthly existence there had to be structure constructed to carry on the tradition of teaching. And an institution is a poor substitute for the real thing - but that is all we have.

    Why are Catholics so bad?

Rather than relying on questionably websites you might want to read something about the Early Christian Fathers and the Council of Nicaea. The RCC is an institution and like any institution can make its own rules. Whether you agree with the rules is beside the point. If, on the other hand...

More Astonishing Bible Proof - (Warning -Athiests- This Is Adult Sensitive Material)?

What has any of this go to do with Christianity? It is pure speculation more akin to pulp fiction. We know what happened to the 'lost tribes' - they were absorbed into the Assyrian culture.

The Church is Not the Source of Truth

Hi - and Thank you I have not waded through all the texts - you might want to enlighten me. Despite Paul's reworking of the himself as an Apostle he was never recognized as an Apostle - otherwise the Church would have a tradition of 13 Apostles. Clearly the number is significant - it relates...

The Church is Not the Source of Truth

Excuse me coming in at this point but this statement is worthy of a response. Indeed not but then a whole lot of others things are missing which we take for grated these days. Besides, it seems that Paul is re-working the meaning of the word 'apostle'. As someone pointed out...

How Say You Jesus Is A Jew?

If you follow your logic then Mary was not a Jew either. Read Ruth 4.

Christ's Christianity and Paul's Christianity are Not the Same

Thank you - and I have to apologize for not responding sooner - I missed your post for some reason. Ehrman is also a favourite of mine with respect to historical matters. Indeed - and Paul's stance in Romans 13 has always troubled me. But I think I can understand his...

Christ's Christianity and Paul's Christianity are Not the Same

Good point? I think it fairly obvious that the reason Paul undertook the trip was to confront the 'pillars' (Gal 2:9). It is also obvious that Paul's argument won the day. The stories of 'cannibalism' are probably just that - stories - gossip. Jews had a dispensation from Rome to...
