I'm currently enrolled in a course at the University of South Carolina called Biblical History and Literature. I have a professor that has been teaching for literally almost half a century now and he's regarded as the world's top expert on the imperial cult and he has a lot of knowledge about the Bible (or at least scholarly knowledge). In one of the first days of class, we obviously started out with Genesis and the story of creation. His theory was, of course, that the events did not really take place and that it was an explanation for the origin of the world and humans. This is a point of faith of course and obviously you're not going to get that in the college classroom. However, his theory with the story was that Adam was not actually a single man. He maintained that Adam was a play on words for the Hebrew world 'adamah' which means ground. Adam is a term for humanity and not a single person in other words.I had to quibble with this assesment. For one, there are many of the "begat" phrases in the Bible and it clearly says that Adam and Eve begat first Cain and Abel and then Seth. This points to single individuals and not some sort of collective name.Genesis 5:3 KJVAnd Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:What do you think?

Personally, I think that's a bunch of BS. The idea that God is trying to be clever and trick us by using puns doesn't sound right. That also fails to explain a number of things....

I don't really agree to that topic, well of course I don't belive it, but still. It's funny that he would say that, even though that's only a theory..

I thought it quite funny as well and had to strongly bite my tounge on the topic. I don't think getting into an argument with my professor on one of the first days would be too good. I could think of 2-3 verses right off the top of my head that completely disagree with the statements he made.I just thought it quite funny, even looking at it from a scholarly standpoint.

This topic made me think of this verse:Romans 1:21-2321For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles

The other day I heard a conversation about the strangeweather lately around the world one gentelman said hethought God was trying to say somthing, the other guy laughedand said its just mother nature doing her thing. This is thetypical statement I often hear,so I decided to write down mythoughts on the subject Looking at the aspects of mother nature we know thatwithout it there would be no life on earth. We also know that God created Laws that Mother Nature has to follow."God only creates that which is good". So if we conclude that Mother Nature is a good thing would God use it to chastiseus as well? We need only look to The Bible for the answer where we find Noahs flood, the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah,King Uzziah's earthquake to name a few,so the answer to thequestion is yes God does use Mother Nature to chastise us."God is not the creator of chaos" does it rain without clouds,do hurricanes form without water to feed them, are there tornatoeswithout warm and cold air,are there earthquakes where land dosen'tbuild up pressure as it moves? The answer to these questions isNO,so therefore God follows the laws of Nature that he createdPeople around the world call these, laws of nature, "Science"People of faith see the miracouls work of God in these lawsof nature, reguardless of what title you use science or Godswork. If we can agree that Nature is Good, that God followsits/his law, that he has used nature to warn/correct us in the past(as there is nothing new under the sun) He warns us he willuse it in the future,I can only conclude that:" Mother Nature is Gods weapon of choice". The rabbi's in Israel warned the Jewish people some bigchange, in a spirital sense was going to happen shortlyafter the begining of April. On April 2 the news headlines were about water causing death & damage around the world. Then God added the wind( check the news headlines of the last two weeks) I expect to soon to see earthmovement(quakes)and fires (the four elements of Nature) to soon be making big news.I think God has turned his Weapon of Choice towards earthand thats a BIG THING for all mankind to pay attention to. .
