It seems like although I've gotten better with this sometimes I can't help but thinking negative thoughts? Does anybody have any advice on how I could work on this more and improve?

Treasure the eternal promises we have in Jesus, who was himself a man of sorrows.

You know ever since I've started writing my Rock God series I find myself thinking more about Him and His love lately. However, that was the prime inspiration for this topic. I'm sort of scared of not making it. I don't want to give up and I'm not going to, but failure has been on the back of my mind and I don't write for the game and fortune, I write these stories to show the world the real God who, unfortunately, has been misrepresented as a mean person way too often. :(

In that case the scripture quoted by Pearl above seems best.

I liked it, but what exactly does it mean in this circumstance?
In any circumstances it means to bring our thinking in line with that of Jesus. In your particular circumstance I would think it means to let go of all your ambitions and put them into God's hands and stop worrying about failure. Then whatever happens you will be able to stay strong and focused and move on - maybe to write another story or to change direction.

I have a friend, Bob, who is a pastor now but way back joined the same church at the same time I did. I was exceedingly 'big' on being positive. I used to wonder how he could always see the positive in things but with practice over the years I pretty much can myself now although I used to be an extreme worrier. Somebody else once told me that worry is a sin, so I took that on board too.

Being positive brings blessings, both to ourselves and to those around us. Being negative is to put a curse on something. And taking on board the one-liners that more mature Christians throw our way helps us to grow to maturity ourselves.

Deuteronomy 30:19
This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.

I think the biggest problem is that I don't think anybody here can even begin to understand how badly I want this and how much it means to me.

This may come across as silly...However:
We can not "control" our thoughts of what "pops into" our mind.
It is "entertaining those thoughts", which means: Keeping that thought, mulling over that thought, considering it, assessing if it is worth-wild (a benefit), etc.
In a nutshell, Scripturally that is called;
Falling into Temptation.

We have the POWER, to "control" ANY thought that "pops into our minds"...
And that is what you seem to be asking about;
* TALK TO YOUR SELF...silently Or out loud.
Convince yourself that thought IS , dumb, stupid, mean, wicked, evil, jacked up ....whatever adjective captures your attention.
* PAUSE...consider the thoughts in your HEART... Does your Heart, Agree with your Minds thoughts?
* DECIDE ... You HAVE the Power to CONTROL (accept or STOMP OUT) any thoughts in your Heart, in your Mind.
* CONSIDER ... Your well being..."emotional feelings". Are negative thoughts messing with your "emotions" ?
Again, TAKE CHARGE, Talk to yourself, Demand of yourself to Stomp out the Minds, thoughts Demanding those thought GO AWAY.
* And IF you need a boost...
Call on Jesus' Presence, (and Trust He is RIGHT THERE with you) ...as you are Demanding negative Minds thoughts to GO AWAY....

It's a Scriptural teaching...
The Lord does NOT LEAD US TO TEMPTATIONS.
You Talking, exhibiting Control over your Mind, Demanding your Mind to be "subjected to your Hearts Thoughts"... Asking for Jesus' HELP...(right then)...
Read this and Trust it:

2 Pet 2:
[9] The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations....

God Bless,

Absolutely! No person on this forum can understand how badly you want to make it right and to the end with God. But God can! He should be the only One ultimately who needs to understand where you are... Believe it! Where does this belief come from... through faith in God:

"So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Rom 10:17

True, because I don't think He would have given me permission to write about Him for absolutely no reason and He actually wants me to because He wants people to want to try and seek Him and that's what I'm attempting to do with these stories while throwing a funny and entertaining spin on them. I have His power inside me and with it I can move mountains. Lol I guess I should listen to my own words,.. but actually I do believe that He told me that first quite awhile ago and I put it in the story as a means of conveying His message. :) This is such a good and true song!! :D (And yes,.. I can talk to God directly,.. but I think everybody could come to hear His voice,.. the problem is that not everybody wants to take the time to try and listen for it. A direct quote from the Big Guy as well.)

Sometimes we do not "recognize" the "power" we have.

Say a mom gives her toddler the KEYS to the moms car. The toddler carry's around the KEYS, without one IOTA, that those KEYS "are" the very POWER that operates mommys car.

The Lord within us, are LIKE the KEYS.
Gods KEY, Gods POWER, that we get to carry around. IF we do not USE those KEYS, we are not "accessing" the POWER God has MADE available for us "TO" use.

God has Changed "our hearts"...
Our Minds are under our Control, TO MAKE our Hearts (pretty much BOSS over our Minds).
We have the power to do that...
It takes "trying" and "practice", like anything new.

God Bless,

At this point, I'm going to speak a few things I believe that the Lord wants me to. Please know that I am not perfect.
I don't recall if I've mentioned this, but time and again, since I joined the Board last summer, the word destiny comes up in regards to you.
What to do regarding your dream? Die to it, and the Lord will resurrect whatever it is He wants to.
He has a very important plan for your life; it will affect others in ways you cannot now understand.
Another word that has come to me regarding you is, and I first want to say that in what context, I have no idea, is Washington.
I'm just one little voice; He will direct you through His inner witness and those He brings around you. Bless you, April Rose. :)

I will tell you what God has put on my heart to say - your book will be different in a few years, if you keep working on it. Much different.

The rest is from my mind-

I believe it is going to grow as you grow. So don't worry about "making it" at this very moment. Just relax and keep going. Rome wasn't built in a day, so be patient with yourself.

And @Pearl said it best. Focus on the things of God because knows what he is doing. And he will lead you to say the right things. Let him guide your pen. Stop worrying. You can do it. :)

What do you mean different?
I can't say that for myself I never add to what the Lord says, but trust him and don't give up working on it!

My **personal** assumption is that there will be changes as you go along so don't be afraid of changes if they come up, as you get new ideas, and as you are "growing in Christ," as you say. :D Have fun with it!!

It is a big blessing.

Proverbs 16:3

Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.

Prayer probably would be the best thing to us when negative thought come about.

Reminding yourself who you are in Christ Jesus ~ A Daughter/Son of God ~ Child of God.

Reminding yourself that in life even through the spirit it is a process, and it has its ups and downs too.

He said:

3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

~~~~~~
We shift in between each of these ` poor in spirit, mourn, meek, ~ hunger and thirst for righteousness, becoming more merciful, becoming more pure in heart by the spirit, becoming more of a person who makes peace, and even persecuted because of righteousness.
Notice that poor in spirit ~ theirs is the kingdom of heaven
Notice that those who are persecuted for righteousness sake ~ theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
the middle parts are the ups and downs in between going through the motions of spiritual life ~ Poor in spirit, crying shall be comforted, meek - being comforted makes us more meek ~ as you continue to seek and thirst and hunger for righteousness (learning about Jesus Christ and God) ~ You shall be filled spiritually.
In your life as you continue to grow, you will understand more, but also show more mercy, become more peaceful, even be persecuted for the truth.
Seems to me this is an indication of a persons faith, and the ups and down that comes with the problems and ups and downs of life.
What are your thoughts on these things ?
