5 fold ministry?

I actually learned what that was. It was my question also. LOL

It's the five ministries listed in the letter to the Ephesians ch4...

"The gifts he gave were that some would be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until all of us come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to maturity, to the measure of the full stature of Christ."

I found this on a forum and thought it had some good points/food for thought. Just thought I'd put it here for anyone who wanted to read it.

Prophetic Standards Statement – Prophetic Standards Statement

If it's presented as food for thought, I would have one complaint. Nowhere in the statement is true prophecy said to contain warnings. It comes close to saying this by saying prophecy can "bring correction," but I think it is more than that. I have seen numerous times where they bring outright warnings, and the danger in not mentioning this aspect of prophecy is to dismiss genuine warnings from God as merely being "nightmares." This can prove to be a mistake.

But yes, they are for edification, they will glorify Jesus, they bring correction, and they are redemptive, give supernatural guidance and can even bring deliverance, so in those things the statement is accurate.

WE BELIEVE that the general function of the gift of prophecy, as it relates to the church, has to do with edification, exhortation, and comfort (see 1 Cor. 14:3). As this gift relates to unbelievers, it can reveal the secrets of their hearts and bring them to repentance, demonstrating God’s reality to them (see 1 Cor. 14:24-25).

WE BELIEVE that the essence of the spirit of prophecy is the testimony of Jesus, hence the ultimate goal of prophetic ministry is to exalt the lordship of Jesus Christ, even though we recognize that not every prophetic word will specifically point to Him (see Rev. 19:10; 1 Cor. 12:3).

WE BELIEVE in the five-fold ministry of the prophet, recognizing that such prophets will also be used to bring correction, instruction, and directional clarity to the Body, but not independent of other leaders, and therefore different from the model of the independent Old Testament prophet.

WE RECOGNIZE that prophets do not serve as spiritual fortune tellers or prognosticators, nor is their role to satisfy our curiosity about the future or reveal abstract information. God’s purpose in prophecy is redemptive, calling for repentance, giving supernatural guidance, bringing comfort, deliverance, restoration, and glorifying Jesus as Lord.

5 fold ministry?
Actually three-fold ministry would be more consistent with the facts and with the truth. The apostles and prophets are to be found in Scripture alone. Jesus called the entire OT "the Law and the Prophets". The apostles and evangelists (who wrote the Gospels) were also prophets. But the apostle John was the last apostle-prophet, and he made that crystal clear. Revelation closes prophecies and prophetic books. Thus anyone claiming to be a prophet today is simply a false prophet (e.g. Joseph Smith, Ellen G. White, etc.). And there are only twelve apostles of the Lamb.

Whatever denomination teaches this has taken upon themselves to suggest God doesn't know what He is doing when Paul was teaching the Corinthians how He set up His Church and intended for it to function.
This teaching needs to cease, repent of its false teaching and be counted with the faithful servants who follows all of the Word without prejudice....
Whether this will happen or not is irrelevant because He is restoring His Church and it will function by the Anointing and Power of the Holy Spirit, and those who are part of this church will experience a true freedom in Christ....freedom from all things that has kept them bound by religious doctrines of man.
Where can anyone find a church that can testify and witness of the hope they have in Jesus to
1.set the captives free
2.heal the deaf and they will hear, the blind will see and the lame will walk.
3. To break generational curses
4. To give life more abundantly
5. To walk in the anointing and power of the gifts of the Holy Spirit ministering to those in the streets
6. To show that we serve a mighty God...nothing is impossible for Him...nothing
2 Corinthians 6 (KJV)
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
² (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)
³ Giving no offence in any thing, that the ministry be not blamed:
⁴ But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses,
⁵ In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings;
⁶ By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned,
⁷ By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,
⁸ By honour and dishonour, by evil report and good report: as deceivers, and yet true;
⁹ As unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and, behold, we live; as chastened, and not killed;
¹⁰ As sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.
