From what I heard, Joel Osteen does not take any money out of the offerings for himself, the money he makes is through book sales.
I rest my case he sells God. By promising prosperity. He even said he was not a preacher but a motivational speaker. Always listen to God and not what men tell you other then the gospel.

Well I was thinking that they need money for a living too
There's a huge difference between making a living and maintaining a lavish lifestyle. And that is what Joel Osteen does. But above and beyond that he preaches a FALSE GOSPEL.

Well, I'm listening, LoL. Only he keeps making statements that run dangerously close to New Age occultism....

where did you find this guy? :)

He does use some interesting language :p. My dad went to see him preach, when he came to Australia.

What about Roy Godwin, has anyone heard of him? I might share some stuff here later on, his messages are full of the love of God.

Joel Osteen is a false teacher in my opinion, as a few posters have already alluded to. I dont hate the man he has a gift of speaking encouraging words. It would probably be better if he referred to himself as a motivational speaker instead of a Christian teacher. He doesnt speak about sin often

Charles Stanley seems as good you'll find for a tv preacher. He does speak about sin and its consequences but id be interested in hearing more opinions about him from others, good or bad

And he used to mail us letters prior to the pandemic that helped me without cost, he has great faith that it'll be returned so he can have a living with his family. Now I think things have gone virtual though

They're amazing. I learned so much from Joel Osteen and Charles Stanley. The time I watched them was when I could still see Charles Stanley's archives from 2007. Who do you like? Or has impacted you?
I'm not really into new age preachers. I watch daily Mass online and get a lot out of it. It's weird but sometimes the message appears to be for me almost like it's a revelation just for me.

Not too many TV ministers I am into these days, but that's because I'm rather advanced theologically now. But I find Robert Morris worth a watch sometimes. Adrain Rogers was solid when he was around. Andrew Wommack can be ok when he's not too far off into Faith theology, and Kirt Schneider can be ok as well.

But what you want to do is study the Bible for yourself in the midst of watching sermons you like. The more you do your own Bible study and reading, the more you will start to see things from your own perspective, after letting the Lord teach you Himself. :)

Our church does the Andrew Womack studies. Right now we are doing on transformation

Like a few other Faith preachers I know, I believe Womack has raised the dead. There are just some things the Faith bunch teaches that are not fully correct (sometimes wildly off, depending on the preacher). But I suppose that's true of all of us. Andrew Womack has a humble spirit about him, and I believe it's gotten him a long ways with God.

I have watched Charles Stanley on tv on occasion. I have YouTubed David Hogan. Amazing testimonies... Joyce Meyer and Beth Moore have both impacted my life also with their books/teachings.

I never heard of such a thing until coming to my church of a year now. God is amazing. I really didn't think that still went on. David Hogan raised close to thirty. Somewhere around there

Joel is inspirational!

I would have to disagree with anyone who says he is a false teacher! Granted Joel is not a teacher of in depth theological doctrine. You can listen to John MacArthur, RC Sproul or Charles Stanley for Christian theological teaching. Joel is not a professor.
What I get from Joel is a sense of happiness, encouragement and praise, adoration, wonder, thankfulness towards an awesome God who blessed and provides for us abundantly. He teaches about Faith and possessing it and nurturing it strongly. Believing what we ask God for is key ... and not just material things. Aren't we supposed to pray and believe it as if it is already a done deal? People need an inspirational coach now and then. He is right, positive thinking is required. If you don't believe you can do all things in Christ who strengthens you, you won't accomplish much.
Kids that grow up without a father, and without a positive mentor behind them, encouraging them, don't amount to much.
Robert Schuller was the same kind of preacher. Possibility thinking a d positve thinking, he taught.
Isn't the key factor of Salvation, FAITH? We are saved by grace through faith and it is a gift. Some are given little and some are given much. The Bible stresses forty times to encourage one another, we all need it.
Joel's a half-time coach that delivers a pep talk to the players before they go out.
My recommendation to all Joel listeners is to switch the channel to a more theological teaching to grow in knowledge, get the basics.
I get it, Joel doesn't even teach the basics - SO YOU NEED TO GET EQUIPPED ELSEWHERE FIRST, then turn Joel on for that inspiration. He has the joy of the Lord. He has charisma and is a good story teller.
I listen to John MacArthur for knowledge, not inspiration, not motivation, I don't find him even nice - He is serious. He doesn't seem happy - but that's John, I can handle it. I have heard him bash Joel ... he's probably just jealous of His success.
Joel is doing the Lord's work. Every Pastor has their own style and knowledge and draws their own segment of the body.
I think the prosperity thing is exaggerated. Actually it has been demonstrated in every church that thise who are givers, get it back and then some. What you sow is what you reap. So if you give with an eye dropper, you won't get much back ... whether it's love or money.
But who doesn't want to prosper? Do we all go to school, study, learn a trade, get a degree to do just that? Well, isn't a positve attitude and faith in God something that is needed ti accomplish whatever it is you are doing?
GOD wants us to live life in the full;
not to be possessed by our possessions, but to have our needs met and wants within His plan. We store our treasures in heaven but hopefully for some 80 years we are not living impoverished.
IF I remember correctly I think the wisest man who ever lived was also the richest. King Solomon was blessed with prosperity. Christians realize some will be rich and some poor. Wherever we end up, we need to be content.
