Only doers of good will be paid with eternal life at the eschatological judgment.

Matthew 16
27For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done.

Romans 2
6God 'will repay each one according to his deeds'
7To those who by perseverance in doing good seek glory, honor, and immortality, He will give eternal life. 8But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow wickedness, there will be wrath and anger. 9There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil, first for the Jew, then for the Greek; 10but glory, honor, and peace for everyone who does good, first for the Jew, then for the Greek. 11For God does not show favoritism. 12All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law. 13For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but it is the doers of the law who will be declared righteous. 14Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law. 15They show that the work of the law is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness, and their conflicting thoughts accuse or even excuse them 16on that day when, according to my gospel, God judges the secrets of men by Christ Jesus.
...
26If a man who is uncircumcised [v14's "Gentile"] keeps the requirements of the law [God's Spirit writes the Law on hearts under the New Covenant Jeremiah 31:31-34], will not his uncircumcision be regarded as circumcision? 27The one who is physically uncircumcised yet keeps the law will condemn you who, even though you have the written code and circumcision, are a lawbreaker. 28A man is not a Jew because he is one outwardly, nor is circumcision only outward and physical. 29No, a man is a Jew because he is one inwardly, and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a man's praise does not come from men, but from God.

Galatians 6
6Nevertheless, the one who receives instruction in the word must share in all good things with his instructor. 7Do not be deceived: God is not to be mocked. Whatever a man sows, he will reap in return. 8The one who sows to please his flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; but the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. 9Let us not grow weary in well-doing, for in due time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to the family of faith.

Revelation 22
12Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay each one for what he has done.

That there is a day of judgement is clear from Jesus' teaching and then our deeds will be judged for condemnation or reward but you have not understood what God regards as ' good ' works.
Try John 6:29 the work of God is to believe in his Son.

You talk about eternal life but don’t mention what it is or when one receives it. If you truly understood your assurance in Christ would be complete.

No, it is yourself who has misunderstood : "the doer of the Law will be justified" Romans 2:13. Same as Galatians 6:6-10. Same as James 2. As far as the verse you cited, the men asked how they could work the worjs of God, and the answer is correct : those who believe in Christ will do the same works He did and greater, as it says "those who claim to abide in Christ must walk as He walked" and "what I am I am by the grace of God and I was abundant in labors above them all yet not I but the grace of God with me" and "colaborers with God" aand "God is at work in you to will and to do".

Eternal life is GOD'S GIFT to the one who believes on Christ.
Yes, "the life is in the Son".
And?
Are you just going to throw everything else in Scripture away now that you found a verse you like?

That’s not the way it is. You have to see the saving Grace that the Father has given us.

All you keep saying is obey the Law. That is worthless.

Read what the apostle said about the law.
For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

I don't think "the Father gave us saving grace" in a way that negates Scripture. Romans 2:6-16 and Galatians 6:6-10 say only doers of the law/good will be justified and repaid eternal life on the day of judgment.
That is the discussion.
Don't change the subject.

All you keep saying is obey the Law. That is worthless.
1. No, the Pharisees did NOT keep the Law. That was their problem. They didn't ADMIT they broke the Law. They were dishonest. "God can save the sinner you are but not the Saint you're not." "Whoever claims they have no sin is a liar and God's Word is not abiding in them."

2. No, you're mixed up : the problem is that people Cannot keep the Law without Jesus as their Savior. Once they have the grace of the Lord the Law is written in their heart so they CAN do the Law. 'Do we do away with the Law by faith? On the contrary we uphold it." Romans 3:31 Jesus is going to deny knowing sinners on the Day of Judgment : "Get away from Me workers of iniquity, I never knew you!"

3. You're misunderstanding me. We're not "under Law", we're "under Grace" Romans 6:14--New Covenant Geace is God writing His Law's on our hearts which empowers us to keep the Law Romans 2:13-15, Romans 2:26-27, Romans 3:31, Romans 8:4.
So God's Word is, according to you, "worthless".

Oops!

1. Romans 7:7-24 describes a pre-Christ life : Romans 7:5 says it describes the life Jews life when they're under Law and "in the flesh"--by contrast, Romans 8:9 says Christians aren't in the flesh but in the Spirit. There're more proofs I could share--let me know if you require them.

2. Romans 8:4 says the righteous requirement of the Law is fulfilled (whereas when he was "in the flesh" he cried because "the good I will to do I do not do") those with New Covenant grace.

I just want to clarify for everyone that no one gets born again / regenerated / renewed by doing a good work or even many good works.

We are regenerated and renewed "not by works of righteousness which we have done" (Titus 3:5).

If I give $5 to the poor, or even $5,000,000, that is not going to perform the work in my heart that we find described in Ezekiel 36:25-27.

However, once that work has been performed within me, I will be inclined to give money to the poor as the Spirit leads. And if I don't ever give money to the poor after that work is performed in me, it does not change the fact that the work has been done in me, if in fact it has been done in me.

I do believe that we obtain assurance, not by telling ourselves that certain verses in the Bible apply to us; but that the Holy Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God (Romans 8:16).

Absolutely!
God has prepared good works for us to do! He works through us. He makes us holy. We cooperate and participate, but Jesus gets all the credit.
"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast." Eph. 2:8, 9

For cooperating, being obedient, (considering that sometimes our flesh gets in the way, we are lazy and resist loving others when we should), He will judge the works and hand out rewards. But salvation is a gift and so all Christians get saved - only some receive more rewards than others. Will Mother Teresa receive more than most - I would say so. Billy Graham, yes.
Me, I'll get in, maybe receive a few.
This goes hand in hand with "storing up your treasures in heaven". The more people you unconditionally loved had fruitful relationships with, is in itself a reward. If I only participated in God's plan to save only a few individuals and ignored many other opportunities, then I won't receive as much.

1. So, you agree eternal life is repaid those who are justified for being doers of the Law as stated in Romans 2:6-16 and Galatians 6:6-10?

2. I am sorry to say that you apparently don't know what "salvation by the blood of the Lamb" is. The Jews were "saved by the blood of the Lamb" but still fell under God's wrath in the wilderness and never inherited the promise. We are "saved", yes, but that doesn't itself guarantee we will inherit the promise--I go by Scripture when I define things.

The commandment to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength; and your neighbor as yourself: can be fulfilled as you place your trust in Christ so that He gives you the Holy Spirit (Galatians 3:14) through whom the love of the Lord can be shed abroad in your heart (Romans 5:5).

Faith in Christ's sacrifice and resurrection.

That is what saved means. Secure, sealed by the Holy Spirit. You must be born again to enter into Christ and the kingsom of heaven.
So, you agree eternal life is repaid those who are justified for being doers of the Law as stated in Romans 2:6-16 and Galatians 6:6-10
No. The scripture is clear - did y you read it. We are saved by Grace through ... not by works.
We are justified by faith.
We receive rewards for the works that God has planned, His works through us that we have been obedient with as servants to others.

1. You realize there are more than a couple passages in Romans 3 and 4 that address the issue, right?

2. You must not have read God's Words I referred you to. I will cite them here for your enrichment and correction :

Romans 2
6who WILL REPAY EACH PERSON ACCORDING TO HIS DEEDS: 7to those who by perseverance in doing good seek glory, honor, and immortality, He will give eternal life; 8but to those who are self-serving and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, He will give wrath and indignation. 9There will be tribulation and distress [g]for every soul of mankind who does evil, [h]for the Jew first and also for the Greek, 10but glory, honor, and peace to everyone who does what is good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 11For there is no partiality with God.
12For all who have sinned [j]without the Law will also perish [k]without the Law, and all who have sinned [l]under the Law will be judged [m]by the Law; 13for it is not the hearers [n]of the Law who are [o]righteous before God, but the doers [p]of the Law who will be justified. 14For when Gentiles who do not have [q]the Law [r]instinctively perform the requirements of the Law, these, though not having the Law, are a law to themselves, 15in that they show the work of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience testifying and their thoughts alternately accusing or else defending them, 16on the day when, according to my gospel, God will judge the secrets of mankind through Christ Jesus.

Galatians 6
6Let the one who is taught the word share all good things with the one who teaches. 7Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. 8For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. 9And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. 10So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.
