Hint: the answer lies in the question itself...
Answer: No.

Drunkenness
is a sin.
Jesus not only made alcoholic beverage - he DRANK alcohol.

In Luke 7:34, Jesus says, "The Son of Man has come eating and drinking; and you say, ‘Behold, a glutton and a drunkard’”

In 1 Tim. 5:23, Paul tells timothy, “No longer drink only water, but use a little wine for the sake of your stomach and your frequent ailments.”

Whereas these verses do not condemn drinking in moderation, neither do they condone drunkenness.

Is this the discussion about the theory of what came first, the chicken or the egg, debate?

The answer as to what the sin is that manifests itself as drinking to excess is the issue that should be solved, first, then the issue becomes, can I see in the drinking that I have already committed the primary sin of turning away from God?

When you're drunk, you can't see too straight.
