The simplicity of the Gospel of Christ is just that, simple

That reminds me of a quote by the great Ronald Reagan. The experts tell us the solutions to our problems are complicated. The experts are wrong. The solutions are simple, just not easy.

You know when you think about it the selfie or self-life might be one and the same…. Love a good turn-of-phrase.. :)

Be blessed in your relationship with Jesus..

So,.. in a nutshell,.. if I understand the OP correctly it's basically saying (and I'm just paraphrasing here btw) that we tend to want to live our own lives how we want to live them instead of how God wants us to live them? Okay, I'll be the first to admit that. I'm a selfish little brat who always wants my own way. It's my own human and sinful nature. Am I proud of that? Of course not, but it's how I am which is why I don't deserve my salvation and I can't earn my way to Heaven. It was a selfless gift out of sheer love and grace.

The daily cross (Luke 9:23) is for those who truly wish to follow Jesus.

So,.. umm,.. what does that mean? (Remember I pointed out that I'm not proud of my selfish attitude,.. sometimes I actually do live the way that God wants me to,.. just not all the time. It's not that I think that I know better than Him, I just don't like giving some things in my life up.)

If given the freedom to say; when you see the futility of own will, you will, and God will make all grace abound…

Be blessed in the abounding….

Luke 9:23 is when a believer moves on to becoming a disciple.

I like that 'selfie life' very fitting. We do live a selfie life, we just have a new self now. We think of the old way of doing things or selfish but self is way underated because we have to have self in living 'who you are', living life comes out of self. Oh and Sebastian is a riot :)

- Always keep in mind "old things have passed away, and behold all things have become new.'

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A heart broken and bruised, O God, Thou dost not despise.

It is my position that positional sanctification is un-sanctification.

My point in post #19 (which I didn't articulate too well) was that Muslims make sport of our disunity, which is caused by our selfish (sinful) nature. They view this as further proof that their religion is the superior religion. Which does not further the cause of Christ, whom you and I know is true.
Something is not adding up here. The problem, I believe, is in what we believe. That is, if we are truly desiring to believe the truth.
The self-life is sinful because self is on the throne of one's life. Thus make a god out of self. "You shall have no other gods before me."
I guess it all depends upon who you want to serve. I believe there is a throne in one's heart. Who sits on it is our choice. The Christian life is not easy.

Matt.16:24. -- If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

Self-love is not a sin. It is not forbidden by the law of God. In fact, it is implied in it. It says love your neighbor as yourself. Selfishness, however, is a sin. Selfishness is when you love yourself above your neighbor and above God. It is when you love yourself supremely. This is unreasonable because you are not supremely valuable.
