I was just reading the Bible story where Jesus casted demons out of people and into pigs and they got angry with Him over it!! What did they want from Him? He just saved their butts!! It seems like no matter what He did people were left upset!!

Why didn't he destroy the demons? The pigs were Innocents and did not deserve to die possessed by that which God lets to live. :(

True,.. but it was better than being in the humans and I guess I just don't have emotional attachments to pigs since I like pork and bacon lol

No, Jesus did not save them. He saved only the man possessed by the legion of devils. Men have loved mammon more than God all along. The pigs to them were money, which was more important to them than in seeing Jesus or in hearing what Jesus might have to say! That was 2,000 years ago and essentially, in spite of the sacrifice of God's Son, that is where most people still are today including many of those who call themselves believers.

They might speak favorably of the name, that is, the physically spoken name of Jesus, but when it comes down changing their lifestyles or giving up anything that they like in order to please God, they will often search for ways around it instead of trying to understand what God wants so that they can please the One they say that they love.

God certainly loves us, but how many people strive express as much love toward Him?

God so loved the world... but who has loved Him back? What does it mean to love? He gave up His Son for us? What have we given up or are we willing to give up for Him?

Good reply bro! Yes...what are we willing to give to Him? "Obedience is better tan sacrifice" :D Obedience to God brings GOOD things to our lives, He is not a killjoy! He ONLY wants good things for our lives and with Him, you can't go wrong, ever.

I don't think pigs were kosher.
pigs were "unclean" and the demons were "unclean"
So Jesus took the "unclean" and cast them from HIS people, freeing them from bondage,
and cast those "unclean" demons into "unclean" animals.

I think they rather live in a nice clean house and make it dirty, then live in squalar.
kind of like the punishment fit the crime.
Even the pigs rejected them.
They rather sacrifice their own lives than to have evil demons controlling them.

The people probably did lose a lot of money..
serves them right, God didn't approve of pork.
And there are a lot of medical reasons for not approving of it in them days.
Had a lot to do with food poisoning if the meat wasn't thouroughly cooked.
And as you go through the OT you find a lot of people liked their food medium rare.
Enough so that they were said to even drink the blood.
That's not a good idea with pork.

So it was for the benefit of man not to eat pork or shellfish or whatever else was on the don't eat list,
until man learned of the dangers af uncooked meat, bith spiritually and physically.
Think of it as God the doctor giving us his patience advice on what to avoid in your diet.

The pigs knew they was going to die one way or the other..
so I think they chose the more worthy route..

symbolically speaking
:)

This did not happen among Jews
This GERASENE area were Gentiles - Jews do not raise pigs

One gospel account tells of only ONE "Gerasene Demoniac" - another account says there were TWO who initially approached Jesus

There is a great song by Bob Bennett about the experience called MAN OF THE TOMBS

Yes, Jesus saved his bacon

The demons told Jesus their name was LEGION cuz there were so many of them

2000 pigs - all drowned

Isn't that cool, Ziggy?
We are witnesses.
The man in the tomb had to stay behind to witness and give his testimony..

Rev 6:9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:

Exo 25:21 And thou shalt put the mercy seat above upon the ark; and in the ark thou shalt put the testimony that I shall give thee.

Jhn 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
Jhn 15:27 And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.

Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
Eph 1:14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

I read this like:
Our lives are a testimony. That testimony is Christ in us. The gift of Salvation.
We are sealed with this testimony.
This testimony is placed in the ark in which the mercy seat sits upon.

kind of like a time capsule.. and when the time is right..
the books will be opened..
and will your name with your testimony be in there?

The Lamb's book of life..

(don't mind me, my thoughts are everywhere right now)

Awesome video..
thank you

Why does God let demons live?

Since God has not removed Satan, we must conclude that He permits Satan to exist because his presence is more important to God than removing all the hurt and pain Satan causes His beloved children. What could be so important for God to permit the devil to remain? What compelling benefit could the devil possibly provide?

The devil provides humanity with the opportunity to choose an alternative kingdom from that of God’s kingdom, thus allowing mankind a chance to exercise free-will to follow God or Satan. Without free-will, it isn't impossible to fully love God as we would have no choice, no alternative. We would be with God if we wanted or not, since, so to speak, God would be the only game in town.

Indeed!

God wants people who will to love Him first when another seemingly attractive alternative has been given, namely, mammon! Mammon is the deception.

After Jesus left, the demon possessed man went back to his people to tell them what Jesus did, and when Jesus returned the next time, they were all waiting for Him, and welcomed Him.

Much love!

I believe covetousness is the original sin.

Mat 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Rom 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

1Jo 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

What did Eve do? She lusted or coveted the things of the world.
And they knew immediately they had sinned.
And that sin opened the door to breaking every other commandment.

Greed comes from covetousness. Wars come from Greed, Death comes from Wars.

And covetousness leads us away from God.
covetousness is the deception that the world has better things to offer than God.

If it's not the original, I would think it's pretty close to the top of the list of no-no's
