There are only four verses in the entire bible that uses the word antichrist

1 John 2:18
18 Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour.

1 John 2:22
22 Who is the liar? It is whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a person is the antichrist—denying the Father and the Son.

1 John 4:3
3 but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.

2 John 1:7
I say this because many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist.

Many Christians believe that the antichrist will be the future evil world ruler of the book of Revelation who will rule the world during the end times but is that what the bible actually teaches?

It is interesting that John the disciple who wrote the four verses mentioning the word antichrist was the same John who wrote the book of Revelation. It is also interesting that John didn’t use the word antichrist in the book of Revelation. Why would this be? Could it be that the antichrist John wrote about in his epistles is different from the one most Christians believe to be the antichrist in the book of Revelation?

John used the word beast to describe the evil persecuting world leader in the book of Revelation and its description and character is much different from the description and character of the antichrist. The beast is described symbolically as a ten horned seven headed creature who rules the world and persecutes the saints.

Let’s look at who and what John says is the antichrist.

1 John 2:18-27
18 Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour. 19 They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us.

20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth.[e] 21 I do not write to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it and because no lie comes from the truth. 22 Who is the liar? It is whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a person is the antichrist—denying the Father and the Son. 23 No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.

24 As for you, see that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father. 25 And this is what he promised us—eternal life.

26 I am writing these things to you about those who are trying to lead you astray. 27 As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him.

John is showing us that the antichrist isn’t just one person but many people. John is also stating that the antichrist was present before, after and during his day. John also states that the antichrist is the opposite of truth and John tells us in the verse below that Jesus is truth

John 14:6
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Thus this antichrist who John says is a liar is antichrist because it is the opposite of truth which is Jesus who is the Christ.

Let’s look at what else John says is the antichrist.

1 John 4:1-6
Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3 but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.

4 You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. 5 They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them. 6 We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood.

Once again John tells us that this antichrist is not just one but many. John tells us again that the antichrist was present in his day and John also tells us that the antichrist is not just people but it is actually a spirit. Let’s take a look at the last time that John mentions the word antichrist.

2 John 1:4-11
4 It has given me great joy to find some of your children walking in the truth, just as the Father commanded us. 5 And now, dear lady, I am not writing you a new command but one we have had from the beginning. I ask that we love one another. 6 And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.

7 I say this because many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist. 8 Watch out that you do not lose what we have worked for, but that you may be rewarded fully. 9 Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. 10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take them into your house or welcome them. 11 Anyone who welcomes them shares in their wicked work.

John tells us once again that the antichrist isn’t just one but many. John then goes on to say that this antichrist is the deceiving spirit who denies that Jesus Christ came in the flesh. Jesus Christ coming in the flesh means that the Man Jesus is the Christ the anointed one the Messiah the son of God.

When we read all four verses that uses the word antichrist it seems that he was meaning apostate Israel in his day. Apostate Israel was active when John wrote these words and they denied that Jesus was the Christ by denying Jesus they also denied the Father. Antichrist is not complete in apostate Israel but they do fit the description John gave in his day.

The antichrist is much different from the sea beast in the book of Revelation. The sea beast purpose is to rule the earth to be worshipped as god, destroy Babylon the great and to try to wipeout the church. The antichrist purpose to deceive and to divert people away from the Messiah Jesus the Christ. The antichrist is more like the land beast from the book of Revelation also known as the false prophet.

In conclusion John teaches in the bible that the antichrist is not a future evil world leader but a deceiving spirit within many people who was present in John’s day and whose purpose was to divert people away from the true Messiah Jesus the Christ. John used different titles for the beast and the antichrist for a reason and John showed us what those reasons were.

I Appreciate your explanation of the general "spirit" of antichrist, however (The Antichrist) is a completly different subject as seen below

The word (The Antichrist) is a "catch all phrase" used in eschatology to explain the different names for the very same future human man

(The Antichrist)

Daniel's (Little Horn) Daniel 7:8-11

Paul's (Man Of Sin, Son Of Perdition) 2 Thessalonians 2:3-11

John's (The Beast) Revelation 13:1-5

There are only four verses in the entire bible that uses the word antichrist
Strongs G500
ἀντίχριστος
antichristos
an-tee'-khris-tos
From G473 and G5547; an opponent of the Messiah: - antichrist.
Total KJV occurrences: 5

Strongs G473
ἀντί
anti
an-tee'
A primary particle; opposite, that is, instead or because of (rarely in addition to): - for, in the room of. Often used in composition to denote contrast, requital, substitution, correspondence, etc.
Total KJV occurrences: 22

We can safely deduce that anyone or anything that opposes Christ or aspires to occupy His position and role instead of Him, is antichrist.

Thanks but my point is that the very same John who wrote his epistles and revelation uses different name terms and personality descriptions of the antichrist and the beast thus they are different. One’s purpose is to destroy and self glorify and the other is to divert people away from Jesus.

In John’s day the antichrist description matched apostate Israel

What strongs says isn’t the authority here the bible is and it doesn’t really matter because John didn’t describe the antichrist as trying to occupy Christ position and role he only describes the antichrist as opposing Jesus and denying that He is from God.

John describes the sea beast of revelation as trying to occupy Christ position and role

I believe that John was meaning apostate Israel in his epistles because they were the ones denying Jesus being sent by God at the time of his writing of his epistles

Both the beasts in Revelation 13 are antichrist in nature. The beast that rises from earth is the final false prophet, and is obviously the man of sin/son of perdition mentioned in 2 Thessalonians 2:

2Th 2:3-4 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; (4) Who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sits in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

One person with a number of names, titles, and descriptions . . . we have the same thing with Satan
  • Lucifer, meaning morning star ( Isaiah 14:12)
  • ruler of the demons ( Matthew 12:24)
  • god of this world ( 2 Corinthians 4:4)
  • devil/accuser ( Matthew 4:1)
  • prince of the power of the air ( Ephesians 2:2)
  • roaring lion ( 1 Peter 5:8)
  • serpent ( Genesis 3:1)
  • dragon ( Revelation 12:9; 20:2)
  • adversary ( Job 1)
  • tempter ( Matthew 4:3)

Fixed it for you. :D

You almost have it. The problem you and pretty much every other Christian have is that you were told that there is no such thing as Reincarnation. As a consequence, you folks can not see the simple Truth that is right there in front of you.

Satan is the Deceiving Spirit that has INCARNATED AS MANY ANTICHRISTS throughout history...

full

  • Satan is Spirit
  • Antichrist (The Beast) is Satan incarnated into flesh
So of course there have been many Antichrists. This list is a common one that is taught in many Churches...
  1. King of Egypt
  2. King of Assyria
  3. King of Babylon
  4. King of Medo-Persia
  5. King of Greece
  6. King of Rome
  7. Future Antichrist
full

Seems pretty accurate to me.

Look at what God says about the King of Egypt...

Ezekiel 29:3
"Speak, and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great dragon that lieth in the midst of his rivers, which hath said, My river is mine own, and I have made it for myself."

I mean come on man! Dragon? Hello?

How much simpler can God make it? You know who the Dragon is. Satan incarnated into flesh as Pharaoh. Satan died and incarnated again as the King of Assyria. Etc. Etc.

Each head of the Beast represents an Incarnation.

Easy peasy. So simple a Caveman can understand it. ;)

Scripture teaches that John's (The Beast) and (The False Prophet) are individual human men, that will have living bodies thrown into the Lake of Fire as seen below in (Revelation) 19:20

(Revelation) 19:20KJV

(Daniel) 7:11KJV

Actually scripture teaches that they are demonic spirits who rule over naposses different people mos

Actually I believe that scripture teaches us that they are demonic spirits that influence nations and their leaders like we read in Daniel chapter 10.

How else can a person be once was, "now is not, and yet will come and yet will come up out of the Abyss" or how can he also be the previous 7 kings?

Also revelation 20 show's us that all people will be judged before being cast into the lake of fire only demons are already judged and doomed

I believe anti-christ is anything Christ is not.

Christ is loving.. anti-christ is hating
Christ is giving.. anti-christ is stealing
and so forth.
many people are anti-christs because they don't have the love of Christ in them.
Is there a leader among them more hateful or destructive than the rest?
I don't know, they seem to come and go like the wind.

I'm watching the world today and I see anti-christ everywhere.. all this hate and sorrow and pain.
And some people actually bow down to it.
They thrive on it.

Some see anti-christ as a physical apparition.. I see it as a plague on the heart.

Hugs

I disagree with your theory that (The Beast) and (The False Prophet) are (spirits)

Scripture clearly teaches they have human bodies that will be thrown in the lake of fire

Each head of the Beast represents an Incarnation.

Easy peasy. So simple a Caveman can understand it. ;)

Only Jesus had power to concur death.

I believe that satan's spirit enters different people just like he did with Judus but he doesn't die because he is spirit

I disagree with your theory that (The Beast) and (The False Prophet) are (spirits)

Scripture clearly teaches they have human bodies that will be thrown in the lake of fire

Scripture teaches that John's (The Beast) and (The False Prophet) are individual human men, that will have living bodies thrown into the Lake of Fire as seen below in (Revelation) 19:20

(Revelation) 19:20KJV
20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

Scripture teaches that Daniel's (Little Horn) would be the same human figure seen in John's (The Beast) above

(Daniel) 7:11KJV
11 I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.

It doesn't say human bodies.

Once again how can a single person be once was, "now is not, and yet will come and yet will come up out of the Abyss" ?

It has to be a spirit

Marty In Revelation (The Beast) and (The False Prophet) are seen in the "first person singular", He, His, Him, Himself, human men that have human mouths speaking blasphemy, and human bodies that will be given to the lake of fire

Don't forget hell and death are also thrown into the Lake of Fire.
Conceptual objects are often personified. eg. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? (1Co 15:55 )

I believe when John was shown the first beast rising from the sea he was looking at a metaphorical depiction of the natural wickedness of mankind that confronts the People of God throughout history by means of seven empires, hence the seven heads which are cumulative in their supernatural influence to become the all encompassing eighth empire.

Yes thats true because the beast at that time has possesed the 6th king who is a person

But you still haven't answered my question so once again how can a single person be once was, "now is not, and yet will come and yet will come up out of the Abyss" ?

Marty I see scripture showing that the dragon/satan will inhabit the human body of (The Beast) who gives the human man his power and authority

You will closely note (The Beast) rises out of the (Sea) which represents people, humanity

Beast Rise Up Out Of The Sea, "People"

Revelation 13:1-2KJV

1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.

Satan is King of the bottomless pit, and rises when the pit is open as seen In Revelation Chapter 9

Revelation 9:11KJV

11 And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.
