As some of you may already know, I have been struggling over many years trying to read "Pilgrims Progress" due to the inability for me to concentrate [cos it seemed so boring] and also understand the writer. [cos he speaks in old fashioned English]

Just recently however, I found a wonderful little video that has helped me to understand where the writer was going.

This is a truly life changing book and has changed the way I look at our journey of becoming more like Christ and less like the world. It makes sense. Inspiring!!! Thanks John Bunyan!

Little? That's a full length film :eek::D

Looks like something I might want to watch with the kids!

Thanks Angelina.

Peace be with you!
@Philip James. There are some dark moments during this video so If your kids are young, my suggestion is that you watch it first to make sure it's appropriate. Blessings and Peace to you and yours xox

"Pilgrim's Progress"... a book that has been in my personal library for many years. Like you I have never read it in its entirety but I have read a lot of it from time to time and my last pastor, [the one I still meet for Bible study & prayer once a week] now a widower in his 90's was always mentioning scenes from that book in his various lessons and messages to us over the years. Not many people [or pastors?] refer to it or read from it much any more and probably many Christian people have never even heard of it.

How many people read and pay attention to the real testimonies of people on this forum? When God anoints a person to write a book like "Pilgrims Progress" is that not the writer very effectively at times giving us his testimony?

What a mighty God we serve?

@Pathfinder7 :

I love these lines from 'The Pilgrim's Progress':

"Thus far did I come laden with my sin;
Nor could aught ease the grief that I was in,
Till I came hither; what a place is this!
Must here be the beginning of my bliss?
Must here the burden fall from off my back?
Must here the strings that bound it to me crack?
Blest cross! blest sepulchre! blest rather be
The Man that was there put to shame for me!"

It is a more difficult read for some, but I didn't find it too hard. I read it when I was a child, and having adults explaining it to me back then made it a lot easier.

@Emily Write: Perhaps you also know that hymn by John Bunyan? "He who would valiant be, 'Gainst all disaster, Let him in constancy / Follow the Master. / There's no discouragement / Shall make him once relent / His first avowed intent / To be a pilgrim."

(....which fits in with the title of his book also...)
