I don't believe my relationship with my Jesus Christ has to be like others have, but I am writing this because it seems nobody has the kind of relationship I have with Him, except perhaps those who wrote the Bible. Of course that can't be the case, can it?

Anyway my Jesus talks to me everyday. It wasn't always that way, He came into my life about 20 years ago when He told me, "Read Your Bible" He was not the Bible!! The Bible has never said a single word to me, but He has and does everyday. It is something like where in the Bible you read, "Today if you hear His voice".

Today is the day I hear from Him. Some days more than others. I mostly depends on how often I seek a word from Him. When I do He is always there to talk to me. It is like where in the Bible it has Him saying, 'Behold I stand at the door and knock and if anyone hears My voice and opens the door I will come into him and eat with him and he with Me'. Indeed I usually Him when I take time to eat.

When we do eat together and talk He often like to give me teachings. They can be a bit long but more often they are short with a lot of meaning, like when He told me "The best listeners by the best teachers". Still, I don't find too many teachers who really do listen to Him like that.

And another interesting thing I found out from talking to Him is that He is the King. He claims to be the King of kings and Lord or lords, just like a claim read about in the Bible. He backs that up by sending me angels to minister to me, just like you read about in the Bible where it is written, 'are they not all ministering spirits sent by the Lord to those who will inherit salvation. So I have "My Jesus" who is my Lord, I also have a King who has a kingdom that serve Him also and that by helping people like me. It turns out that He loves people - oh not ever person because some just will not listen to Him, like where in the Bible it reads “Was not Esau Jacob’s brother?” declares the LORD. “Yet I have loved Jacob; but I have hated Esau, and I have made his mountains a desolation and appointed his inheritance for the jackals of the wilderness.”

He tells me He loves me, and often. "Karl, I love you" is the most common thing I hear from Him - and honestly, I can really figure out why. Even at my best it is kind of like when Jesus ask Peter if he loved Him and apparently used the word 'agape' which means some great love, and Peter says he love Him but uses a different word for love that is more like a friendly love. That is to say: He seems to have some great love to me when at best I kind of like Him like a good friend.

Still we talk, and as a friend I find Him interesting but very strange. Besides those teachings and saying like "As instructions are given to a servant, and wisdom and parables to a son, and as jokes are given to a friend, so 'I love you is said to a bride'", He also gives me instructions and jokes sometimes also.

Like this morning I was talking to Him about how it seems that I have this one Jesus but every other Christian seem to have a totally different Jesus. He then told me to go and post that - so here I am posting that.

And when I came to the testimony section to testify about my Jesus I saw a thread where someone though it was all about the Bible doing things for them. That is probably the biggest thing I don't get. So many Christians seem to think knowing Jesus means knowing the Lord. They say things like "The Bible is the Word of God", which is not what my Jesus says at all. Yeah - the first words He told me were "Read Your Bible", but even by saying that to me it showed that He was not the Bible that we read but the One who talks to us.

I was in the bathroom one morning and getting ready to take a shower when He suddenly told me "Karl, I want you to preach the Word but not as it is often preached today. I want you to preach I AM the Word of God.' And when He said "I AM" some power hit me and I started falling to the floor and had to catch myself before hitting the floor. He tells me that He is the Word of God, just like it is written in the Bible "He is clothed in a rode dipped in blood and His name is called "The Word of God".

So anyway, my Jesus is The Word of God because He talks to me everyday. He does that by sending His Holy Spirit to speak to my spirit, so it is that I tend to find His words near me seemingly in my heart or like a little voice behind me, and if I am not paying close attention I find that His Holy Spirit even got His words coming out of my mouth. It is like where it is written “THE WORD IS NEAR YOU, IN YOUR MOUTH AND IN YOUR HEART”—that is, the word of faith which we are preaching," or perhaps where it is written "Your ears will hear a word behind you, “[fn]This is the way, walk in it,” whenever you turn to the right or to the left."

Anyway, that is my Jesus Christ. He is someone who talks to me and who I can talk to. His Holy Spirit is not the only spirit around. Some discernment is needed. There are some tests I use (1 Jn 4:1-3 & 1 Cor 12:3), and I find that the more I practice just seeking Him and listening the better I get at discerning spirits (Heb 5:14). Of course He also gives me good advice about discernment, like explaining that He is the truth. He is about what is really happening, or not. He is really there to speak to us, but He is not a book, even the Bible that we should search through it thinking that it gives us eternal life. Again this is written about too "You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me;"

My Jesus is the One who talks to me, and the One I know as my Lord, even when I get a bit upset with Him. It is a personal relations that Him and I have - and that means Him and I talk everyday called "Today". I can tell you things He tells me - just like I did in the testimony above. I personally recommend that people seek Him for there personal lives. He most certainly will tell you to 'Read Your Bible' but if you talk to Him everyday, you will never again start confessing Him with the any book. It once told me:

I MADE THE MOUNTAIN AND THE MOUNTAIN IS GOOD, BUT WOE TO THOSE WHO WORSHIP THE MOUNTAIN. WOE TO THOSE WHO WORSHIP THE CREATED AND NOT THE CREATOR.

I AM THE WORD OF GOD! THAT IS WHAT THEY CALL ME. FOR WHAT PROPHET EVER SAID ‘THE WORD OF THE LORD CAME TO ME SAYING’ AND DIDN’T MEAN THAT I CAME CLOSE? SHOULD I SHARE MY NAME WITH MY CREATION?

It is just like in the Bible where you read"

After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, saying,
“Do not fear, Abram,
I am a shield to you;
Your reward shall be very great.”

My Jesus is the 'word of the Lord' who comes and talks to you personally!!!

Welcome to the forum.

Yes - that is what I am talking about - HIM - but where are the testimonies about Him - what He says - and then does?

Maybe I didn't put enough about what He does - but the talking to Him comes first and it the most important like the verse you provided explains, but what does He tell you? Anyone?

He once told me "
WE DON’T HAVE UNDERSTANDING BECAUSE WE DON’T READ THE BIBLE WITH UNDERSTANDING, BUT OUR UNDERSTANDING…. UNDERSTAND???

If we don't seek His voice for understanding, then we don't have the understanding we need. and He is that understanding. So if we don't listen to Him we don't have Understanding (Him) as a friend, but have to lean on our understanding.

For five years He had me helping in a Christian healing ministry - where people came in for prayer. For me, the only good way to approach that ministry was to ask Him how He wanted us to proceed. I would listen to Him, go about it like He told me, and weird things happened - like people getting healing. He healed a lot of people, and I got to see Him do it. Still, I never knew how it was going to happen. In fact often people came in for one thing and the Lord would tell me that they had another issue that He wanted to get at. It's strange but people often came in saying they need prayer for a friend or some issue in their life and He would tell me that had a bad knee or shoulder that He wanted to heal. We were a healing ministry but Christians came in not thinking to ask for prayer for their bad knee or shoulder.

So my Jesus just doesn't seem like their Jesus. He talk to me and does things, but as He thinks they should be done. So I have to listen to Him, and can tell you words He tells me.

Hey Karl! Welcome to the forum. I'm betting you will like this one much better as the people are nice! I know our Lord too but am jealous that he talks to you that much! That is pretty awesome.

I discern the difference.

It’s not that you didn’t put enough into the OP; you put too much. After 5 paragraphs, I generally stop reading due to time constraints. Try more bit sized posts.

I love your enthusiasm and testimony!

Today, I’m dealing with an 85 yo about to lose his wife of 63 years. Being with him with love and support is all I can understand for now.

He sounds a lot like the Jesus I know.

I don't like to talk a lot about the details of my relationship with God. I think we are all different, and God knows each of us in a unique relationship.

I think it's more important to make sure people understand that Bible, as that is what will be common for us all. You may or may not benefit from me telling you about my experience of life with God. But you will certainly benefit from a true understanding of the Bible.

It's knowing what the Bible says through and through that allows me to discern what is and isn't His true voice.

That is to say: He seems to have some great love to me when at best I kind of like Him like a good friend.

God is love. He created us to share His love with us. He loves us. He created what He loves, and He loves us. Having been redeeded is being restored to that great love.

In us, love grows. My love for Him has grown most during the trials and sufferings, and how I've come to see how carefully He is crafting me, and that He really does love me.

There is the Bible to tell me what is true and false. And there is the One Who comes in from Outside, who is not me, and Who is not seen, but has shown by a pattern of good works that He indeed does love me.

As far as sharing what He says to me, it all would lack the context of my inner relationship with Him. One thing I'll say, though, He's very consistent at answering me most of the time when I ask what a passage means. I've gotten the impression there are still some He's holding on to.

Much love!

God often shares His love for me when He speaks.

He has been encouraging me to really embrace the fact that I am loved in my heart.

He said there is now no condemnation for those wjo who are in Christ Jesus. I have to believe this deep down, not just with my mind but wholeheartedly.

Love your testimony. Welcome.

This was such a huge area to for me to overcome because, I never "liked" myself. But here is a song that I'm sure you've heard by now...maybe? It was sent to me no later and no sooner that God would have it...His timing is PERFECT!!!! Receive the words, this song will make me cry forever! Tears of joy, of course :) Just listen to those words!!

Yeah...Yawl get the good stuff...
I just get the sarcasm and the jokes.

But I do believe that I deserve that...and a whole bunch of good stuff I don't.

And occasionally it is a bit intimidating. After all...gaining the attention of the God most high is not exactly the most comfortable position in the world (that He made) to be in. It isn't like I am perfect...and I ain't exactly the most well mannered person in the world either. (And He has reminded me of that as well...I am trying to learn to do better)

Let me put it this way...God hears ALL prayers...even the ones you don't intend.
He KNOWS the desires of your heart.
He wants to give those things to you if they are good for you.
But...take a hint if He says "NO" or "Not Yet". Don't go on about it...you just might get YOUR wishes instead of HIS wishes for you. Just saying...HIS wishes for you are much much better than yours.

Amen brother!

I gave up making my own decisions a loooooong time ago and put them at the foot of the Cross. Today, I am oh so much better off! Was going to sell my home a short while back but, I only get anxiety just thinking about moving again and I get His peace when I think I should stay where I'm at now. Don't really want to live in the area I am in but, His will be done :)...because it will ALWAYS be perfect and better than anything "we" might "want"
God bless

Yeah - that correct - in one way of another He loves to love on us. It can be reproof, teaching, correction, but the most common thing I hear from Him is "Karl, I love you".

Let me give two examples of what I am talking about:

He has so often had be talking to Jehovah witnesses. I mean literally He has often told me to go here or there and and in doing so I ran right into them. When I meet them and they come and try to minister to me. So, I ask them what He has told them, and they tell me that He doesn't speak to us today, or that He talks to them through the Bible.

Now compare that to when one day I was in a thrift store and I had just found a nice Bible with four side by side translations, when a young man came up and asked me if I knew Jesus. I told Him that I found that an interesting thing to ask, and I asked the man what the Lord has told him. He thought for just a moment and he told me that "God says He loves him just the way he is."

So some do seem to know my Jesus Christ and some don't. Those who say or write things like "God often shares His love for me when He speaks." know Him. Sadly I have had lots of people want to tell me about Jesus Christ but they don't really seem to know Him. If they did, then they would have to testify about how He speaks to them and how His love comes through that voice of His.

It's nice to know that some do know Him like Wynona and that man in the thrift store. It's just not always easy to find them.

Thank you, Nancy. God speaks to me through songs like that too. I can relate to the lyrics of the song a lot. I was seeking the Lord and I just kept hearing this song which says "Justified".

We are so loved in Christ! It feels good.

The love of God can be overwhelming at times. To know Him is to know love. I suppose my instinct is to expect judgment from God.

But when I get silent and seek him, He says He loves me. And Im always blown away.

Hi Wynona,

"I suppose my instinct is to expect judgment from God." <---that was me in the Catholic church...ALWAYS felt like I was going to get punished.

Oh how different He is! Instead of giving us what we deserve, we are blessed. He took what WE deserved and sinned not a day in His life. We serve a wonderful God!

I just get the sarcasm and the jokes.

Not just you. I've found God has a very dry humor with me sometimes.

The thing is, God made you because He wants to have you with Him, it's just what He wants. When we got messed up, God reconciled us to Himself, and we've received that reconciliation, and that means you can be completely comfortable with Him. He doesn't look at you as some kind of sinner, some wrong or defective person.

He looks at you and sees the beautiful golden child He made, a child who is in the family of the Living Creator God. He sees us still in our old flesh, and He sees all the issues we still all have with our old flesh, our weaknesses, our failings, our yearnings, our unquenchable thirst to be free of sin, and safe with Him.

And He is committed to a good outcome, for you, for me, and He's God! So when He is committed to restore us, restored we will be!

Even if we go on and on about something wrong, He's known all along what will be good for each of us, and that's what God will do, what is good for each of us. He promised.

Much love!

That is it. Just Him saying "I love you" - blows you away!

Somehow, when I hear it I usually stop to think about how it is that someone who is God of all things can love me. I say the wrong thing most of the time. I am too selfish, even if I try not to be. And I think about how small and unimportant I am compared to how big and all important He is. Why should He even take time to tell me "I love you". I does just blow you away. I feel sorry for those who don't hear well enough with their spiritual ears to hear Him tell them that. He will though, because if He loves me He must be able to love them too! It's just hard to believe it - so seeking His voice to find out what He has to say to us is so extremely important!

It's easier to believe when you realize that He created us because it was what He wanted, a planet full of us, and not just that, but He wants you, and me, and He intends to tinker with us in our lives to make us and our lives better and better, as we come to know Him more and more, and see how truly good He is!

Yeah - but it is written that faith comes from hearing a word from Him. So yes it is easier to believe when you realize that He created us but we don't believe He is or that He created us, or even believe that He loves us until we start actually seeking His voice and actually listening to Him!

Believing the Bible is sufficient.

We all start at the beginning.
