We read in Acts 13:42, 44
42) And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.
44) And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.

Please note that the Jews gathered together on the seventh day of the week [Saturday] and also note the term "next" in Strong's Concordance means "between" therefore, in this case, "next/between sabbaths" would mean the day after Saturday will have to mean Sunday the first day of the week.

Now the most significant and profound Scripture reference concerning the change from Saturday Sabbath to Sunday Sabbath worship [which BTW, can't be seen in the English translation] is Matthew 28:1 that reads:
"In the end of the sabbath as it began to dawn towards the first day of the week came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulcher."

Please note that the printer is warning the English reader that words in italicize in the KJV Bible, are not in the original manuscripts. Also note that the word "week" is the plural Hebrew word "sabaton" that can be proven.

Hence, Matthew 28:1 can be rendered thus:
"In the end of the sabbaths as it began to dawn towards the first of the sabbaths came Mary..."

Now Matthew 28:1 seems to be in harmony and that God teaches us that He changed the Seventh Day Sabbath Worship to the First Day Sabbath which to us is Sunday.

To God Be The Glory

Strong's G2064 means "to come", or "the Sabbath to come", or according to the KJV: "the next Sabbath day" just as it's correctly translated.

Paul actually catered lunch that day. On the menu was a "Grace Sandwich" with a generous helping of "Grace" sandwiched between two thick slices of "Bread of Life" brand Sabbath bread:

vss 42: "...the next Sabbath"
vss 43: "...continue in Grace"
vss 44: "...the next Sabbath"

What an opportunity for Paul to say, "Hey, Gentiles, the old Sabbath is for the Jews, but God has a new day for us on which to meet: Sunday". Did he say that? NO! When they asked to meet on the next Sabbath, He told them "continue in grace". And the next Sabbath, they all came together to hear the Word of God. Amen!

Hebrews 4:9-10 KJV says Christians who rest inwardly in Jesus will demonstrate that rest by outwardly resting from our labor on the seventh day Sabbath just as God rested outwardly from His work after six days of Creation. Lamsa's Peshitta actually translates verse 9: "It is therefore the DUTY of the people of God to keep the Sabbath day". Those who reject the Sabbath rest of the seventh day - the only day God ever blessed and sanctified - prove they know not either kind of rest.

  • Mark 3:4 (KJV)
And he saith unto them, Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill? But they held their peace..
It is only lawful to do good any day there for we should treat everyday as the sabbath, I don't get caught up on when the official sabbath is as we have different time zones all round the world. I just try to focus on doing good everyday and I attend church Saturday and Sunday.
Jesus did not abolish the commandment that His people rest on the seventh day by clarifying what is and isn't lawful on Sabbath: He was merely unshackling the Sabbath commandment from the distortions of those murderous, Satan-worshipping Jews who made unlawful anything and everything on Sabbath.
Roman 14:5One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind. 6Whoever regards one day as special does so to the Lord.
This has nothing to do with the weekly Sabbath of the Ten Commandments, but refers to the yearly ceremonial rest days and Mosaic Law of ceremonies and sacrifices, because only parchment/leather scrolls can be nailed to the Cross, while the STONE tablets God wrote "stand fast forever and ever" according to Psalms 111:7-8 KJV.

The Christian world's refusal to acknowledge the difference between the Moral Law (Ten Commandments) and the Mosaic Law is why the 'agape' of many saints shall wax cold, but we saints who endure to the end shall be saved (Matthew 24:12-13 KJV).

That’s funny

God instituted the 7th day as a day of rest.

i see no place where that was changed,

as for a day of worship, god told us to worship every day in spirit and truth, yes, the church did meet on the first day of the week, but that was not a sabbath day, that was a day of worship

If you are looking for an explicit statement which says that the first day of the week is now the Sabbath, you will not find it, and that won't nullify what God actually did through the resurrection of Christ on the first day of the week.

So one must ask why John speaks about "the Lord's Day" in Revelation 1:10 (NOT "the day of the Lord" which is a period of wrath and judgment). He was "in the Spirit on the Lord's Day" which again begs the question "Why?" There have been some who have tried to say that John was calling the Sabbath "the Lord's Day". But since there is no precedence for this, it has no validity. In fact that is absurd.

The Lord's Day is the first day of the week, and it was first established by Christ when He returned to visit His apostles exactly eight days after His resurrection (so that Thomas would believe and call Him "my Lord and my God" and worship Him). Jesus could easily have come to visit them the next day, or any day during that week, but here is what the Bible says:

The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe. And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. (Jn 20:25-28).

This needs spiritual discernment. Not an explicit statement, since God often does not give explicit statements. But "the first day of the week" became the day of Christian worship not only in the New Testament, but historically as we see from the testimony of Justin Martyr in his Apology.

Thus it is "the Lord's day" and those who wish to worship both God and Christ will observe it as "the Christian Sabbath". Paul also waited in Troas to meet with the church for the breaking of bread (the Lord's Supper) on the first day of the week. Why? Because it is "the Lord's Day".

However, because the SDA church has a special animosity to the church of Rome, and believes that (1) the papacy is the Antichrist and (2) those who worship on the Lord's Day have taken the Mark of the Beast, they are loathe to recognized what is actually in Scripture. But all Christians from the first to the fourth century had already accepted the first day of the week over the last day of the week. The principles of Sabbath-keeping were carried over. So if Augustine made this the official day of Christian worship, he was doing what was already established. And ever since no Christians have had any issues until Ellen G. White showed up.

She quoted a Scripture which applied to Israel to support her opposition to Sunday laws in America:
'"Verily My Sabbaths ye shall keep," the Lord says, "for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the Lord that doth sanctify you" (Ex. 31:13). Some will seek to place obstacles in the way of Sabbath observance, saying, "You do not know what day is the Sabbath," but they seem to understand when Sunday comes, and have manifested great zeal in making laws compelling its observance.--KC 148 (1900).'

At the same time, since God has given Christians liberty to honor whichever day they wish to honor, there should be no issues between Christians and Sabbatarians. But there are.
The first paragraph is exactly why your argument is built on a false foundation. If the Scriptures doesn't explicitly state that Sunday is now the Sabbath, then you have no biblical basis to base such a belief on. And as a consequence, you're doing exactly what Christ rebuked the Pharisees for when He said they disregarded God's commandments to cling to their own traditions.

The thing that really makes your argument silly is that you assume i'm a SDA just because i believe the Sabbath is when God says it is and that Christians are supposed to believe Him. And even if i was SDA, it wouldn't make what i said any less true because the command is in the Bible, and Acts conclusively records Christ's followers continued to keep the commanded Sabbaths for the 30 years of its existence. The only thing you're accomplishing by continuing to argue against God's commands is showing just how far people are willing to go to justify their rebellion against what is a pretty clear command from God. What God's prophets and apostles said carries a lot more weight with me than what some "church father" said.

It excludes any extra contribution of works.
Joh 17:1-4 Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: "Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You, (2) as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him. (3) And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. (4) I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do.

Joh 19:30 So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, "It is finished!" And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.
Where is the "eternal life"?

1Jn_5:11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

What was finished at Calvary on earth (not in Heaven)? Jesus laid the perfect character, Himself, the foundation stone upon which all is to be built. He planted the "seed", Himself. He completed an atonement (earth; Leviticus 4), but not the final atonement (which can only take place in Heaven; Leviticus 16; Revelation 9:13-15, 14:6-7,12). Sins were covered at Calvary, but not yet blotted out. Only the beginning, the start, was finished, not the end.

Joh_4:34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

Joh_6:38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

Joh_6:40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

Luk_14:29 Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him,

1Co_3:11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Mat_21:42 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?

Mar_12:10 And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner:

Luk_20:17 And he beheld them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner?

Act_4:11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.

Eph_2:20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;

1Pe_2:6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.

1Pe_2:7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,

Joh 17:4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

The real third temple (us) is not yet complete, for that takes another work of Christ Jesus, as High Priest (Acts 2:1-3,33; Psalms 133:1-3; Revelation 5:6, etc for He was not a High Priest while on earth), from the Sanctuary in the Heavenly places, in the Holy and Most Holy places thereof:

1Pe_2:5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

1Co_3:9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.

Php_1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

Act_13:2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.

Php 2:30 Because for the work of Christ he was nigh unto death, not regarding his life, to supply your lack of service toward me.

Luk_14:29 Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him,

Heb_12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Rom_9:28 For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.
Jesus, when "finished" (Revelation 10:7) in Heaven will say "It is done."

3 Places of the Sanctuary:

[1] Outer court (on earth, where Jesus was sacrificed, "behold the Lamb of God")

[2] Holy Place (where Jesus ascended to, see Revelation 1)

[3] Most Holy Place (where Jesus entered after so many years, see Daniel 8:13-14,26; Revelation 9:13-15, 14:6-7,12, etc)

Two works of the Real Sanctuary (Hebrews 8:2):

[1] Lamb (Outer court), earth (John 1:29,36)

[2] Priest (Holy & Most Holy Place), Heaven (Hebrews 4:14-16)

Two phases of work, in Leviticus 25:51,55

[1] bought (1 Peter 1:18-19)

[2] brought (1 Peter 3:18), to perfection

Sinner to Saint, takes time.

Satan is soon to be fully 'bruised'/crushed, which began at Calvary, to end at the end of the day of atonement (Genesis 3:15; Romans 16:20), for sin crushes him (Leviticus 16:21; Ezekiel 28:16, see in Garden of Gethsemane, sins crushing weight).

We must Awake, and if we are still sinning, we are still asleep (Romans 13:11; 1 Corinthians 15:34; Ephesians 5:14), or Jesus case to save us from (not in) our sins (Matthew 1:21; Jude 1:24).

No He didn't change from worshiping from one day to another day. Either would be by the LETTER of the law. The eternal laws of LOVE are what is written on our hearts, commonly called our conscience. Without being taught about either day is not instinctual. You have to plan ahead with knowledge and keep rules.

The Spirit of the Sabbath is worshiping the Lord of the Sabbath every moment of every day. We must be born again so that Jesus' Spirit is inside us, to abide in us, and we in Him. That is God's rest, abiding; not a day.

Look what the first Christians actually did.

Acts 2:
46 So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.

Hebrews 10:25
25 not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting [one another]; and so much the more, as ye see the day drawing nigh.

No day is pointed out, but fellowship and keeping each other strong and accountable as the Day of the Lord's second coming draws nigh.

You are confused CharismaticLady,

Hebrews 10:25 is in the context, and structural ladder, of Hebrews.

Hebrews 10:25 speaks of two days (the day approaching) (the 7th day the sabbath, at the end of each week and the great cosmic week-end sabbath, being the Day of the LORD)

Hebrews 10:25 does not say "a" day approaching. It is specific, "the" day. So it is not referring to just "any" and every day of the week.

Heb 10:25 μη εγκαταλειποντες την επισυναγωγην εαυτων καθως εθος τισιν αλλα παρακαλουντες και τοσουτω μαλλον οσω βλεπετε εγγιζουσαν την ημεραν
That the disciples met "daily", even as the Jews before them did, does not equate to obedience to the specifics of the commandment (Exodus 20:8-11) when it says to "work" six days and to "rest" the 7th day.

The body of believers may gather on any and every day with no injunction anywhere found in scripture against such, and in truth they met "daily", "continually", etc (Mat 26:55; Mar 14:49; Luk 22:53, 24:33,36; Acts 19:9) and likewise among the followers of Jesus Christ (Luk 24:51,53; Acts 1:3,9, 2:46-47, 5:42, 6:1, 16:5, 17:11,17; Heb 3:13, etc), but what does that have to do with the "rest" of the 7th day itself as commanded, and exampled, by God?

Just in the book of Acts alone, there are over 78 sabbaths explicitly recorded.

Acts 13:14,27,42,44, 15:21, 16:13, 17:2, 18:4, (20:6, 21:4, 28:14; Paul always waited seven days, so that he could keep the Sabbath with fellow Jews, and Proselytes (see Acts 2:10; 13:26,42-43,44,45-46,47-49, 14:1,2,15-16, 15:17,19,21, 17:17) and preach the gospel upon that sacred day (Acts 17:2), just as Jesus had; Luke 4:16-21).

The book of Hebrews is built upon the ladder of learning system, beginning with the foundation, and building upon each precisely measured truth, in its “therefore”, “wherefore” and “for” statements. For instance:

Hebrews 1, lays the foundation in the eternal unchanging Deity and Co-Creatorship of Jesus Christ, who has a more excellent name than that of the created angelic hosts.

Hebrews 2, then begins with the connecting link to the previous foundation, with its “therefore”, and builds upon the other nature of Jesus Christ, namely that of the likeness of his fallen sinful flesh nature of humanity that He had taken upon Himself.

Hebrews 3, then continues to build upon those two things further, and connects to the past truth, with its “wherefore”, and delves straight into the peoples Israel [sons of natural Jacob] of the past, with Moses as a type of Christ; thus showing that Christ is the greater Moses, and in vs 7, another link “wherefore”, pointing to the failure in faith, and the rebellion of action as the result, drawing a parallel between they of old, and the we of then in Paul's day and so also now.

Hebrews 4, then continues the building exhortation, by its “Let us therefore”, and moves right into an an expanded comparison of the past with the present situation, in matters of living faith, granting the victory over sin. Paul, under inspiration of the Holy Ghost, draws from several passages of scripture, and draws a conclusion, with another link in vs 6, a “therefore” and further throughout with additional conclusions and places to step higher, in vs 14, “Seeing then”, and vs 16, “Let us therefore”. Living faith may therefore climb up Jacob's ladder [Christ Jesus] and reach the Throne of Grace, even “boldly”, to find pardon and cleansing for sin.

Hebrews 5, then takes this point on faith, grace, forgiveness, and cleansing, and takes the next step, pointing out the temporary changing Highpriests of old, and the eternal Highpriesthood of Jesus Christ, who is now, with its “For”.

Hebrews 6, then takes this another step higher, with its link of “Therefore”, and moves into the eternal promises of God and eternal covenant made with Abraham [etc], in Christ Jesus, and that true living and abiding faith in contrast with that which is mere 'fool's gold faith' [I believe, I believe, and no corresponding result, thus draw back into doubt, masking as 'faith'].

Hebrews 7, then going further into detail about how Jesus Christ can be a real Highpriest, is linked to the previous, with its “For this”, demonstrating that Jesus is after a higher order, a more ancient order of priest, the Melchizedek priesthood, to which even Abraham, the father of the faithful, acknowledges by tithe. Paul draws out a conclusion in vs 11, “If therefore” and continues.

Hebrews 8, reaches a midway peak, and summarizes all that has been stated before, with its “Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum”, and continues by contrasting the shadows of the Levitical with the reality of Jesus' Melchizedical, along with the old and new covenants.

Hebrews 9, begins with the summarized truth, “Then verily”, and shows the contrast of the earthly sanctuary and its recurring animal sacrifices with that of the true Heavenly, with Christ as the real Mediator between God and man, and the one true sacrifice that was foretold from the beginning, which parallels the language of Colossians 2 and Ephesians 2.

Hebrews 10, continues the thought of Hebrews 9, with is “For”, and shows that the Levitical written laws had types, figures and shadows all pointing to their substance, their body, their reality, Christ Jesus, and because we now have the real sacrifice, sins can truly be cleansed, whereas the blood of goats and calves do not do so, and that everyone taking hold of this sacrifice may enter into God's presence through faith in it.

Hebrews 11, then takes us back to the beginning with “Now faith” and “by faith ...” in the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world, and unites the peoples of faith gone before, with those present, and all those yet to come in the redemption and resurrection provided in Christ Jesus.

Hebrews 12, takes this great 'hall of faith', and links to it with “wherefore”, for the now present persons looking at the significance of the death, burial, resurrection and ascension of the Messiah, and continues with the striking difference between the judgments gone before because of transgression/sin, and the great Judgment to come, but not to grow weary and cling to the blessed Hope, which is Christ Jesus.

Hebrews 13, one can hear the echoed “wherefore” of Hebrews 12:28, in that also in vs 29 God is a consuming fire, who is love, and so “Let brotherly love continue.”, and like as Jesus so loved, in Hebrews 13:12, “wherefore” we ought also to follow such an example of love, and thus, chapters 11, 12 and 13, might appropriately be called the chapters of “Faith, Hope & Love”, and the greatest of these is Love.
Look again:

Hebrews 3-4 (among many others; John 14:15; Exodus 20:6; Isaiah 56:1,8; John 10:16; Isaiah 56:2-7, Acts 4:24, 14:15; Revelation 10:6, 14:6-7, &c).

Hebrews 3-4 is clear.

Hebrews 4:3, "my (God's) rest" and "the works were finished from the foundation of the world", which is a direct reference to Genesis 2:1-3. It even uses the word "finished". God rested the 7th day in Genesis 2:1-3. It is His rest, the 7th day, the sabbath (rest) of the LORD thy God, Exodus 20:8-11.

Hebrews 4:4, "he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works", which "certain place" is Genesis 2:1-3; re-cited in Exodus 20:8-11. The 7th day the sabbath (rest) of the LORD thy God.

Hebrews 4:5, "my (God's) rest)", citing Psalms 95, which is citing Genesis 2:1-3; Exodus 20:8-11, etc. Again, this is the 7th day the sabbath (rest) of God at Creation in Genesis 2:1-3.

Hebrews 4:6, "remaineth", from when? "from the foundation of the world" as per Hebrews 4:3 and thus it is not new, but has been around from the beginning.

Hebrews 4:9, "rest", sabbatismos, literally and truly sabbath keeping in scripture and in all known extant Greek sources, dictionaries, and so on and again "remaineth".

Hebrews 4:10, "his (God's) rest", which is the 7th day the sabbath (rest) of the LORD thy God from Genesis 2:1-3., "as God did from his (works)", which "works were finished from the foundation of the world" as per Hebrews 4:3.

Hebrews 4:11, "that rest" (ie God's rest), the 7th day the sabbath (rest) of the LORD thy God.

Not sure what you don't agree with me on.

I could think of something... Your perception that Adventists don't understand the covenants.

Do you understand this?

Galatians 4:22-31
22 For it is written that Abraham had two sons: the one by a bondwoman, the other by a freewoman. 23 But he who was of the bondwoman was born according to the flesh, and he of the freewoman through promise, 24 which things are symbolic. For these are the two covenants: the one from Mount Sinai which gives birth to bondage, which is Hagar— 25 for this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and corresponds to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children— 26 but the Jerusalem above is free, which is the mother of us all. 27 For it is written:

“Rejoice, O barren,
You who do not bear!
Break forth and shout,
You who are not in labor!
For the desolate has many more children
Than she who has a husband.”

28 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are children of promise. 29 But, as he who was born according to the flesh then persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, even so it is now. 30 Nevertheless what does the Scripture say? “Cast out the bondwoman and her son, for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.” 31 So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman but of the free.

Simply put, it's righteousness by faith.
"All thy commandments are righteousness".

Don't you understand that?

Why the Old Covenant Failed. - https://archive.org/download/amazin... Sermons 13 - Why The Old Covenant Failed.pdf

Disbelief/Doubt in God's promises led Abraham to sin, lacking patience. Self righteousness (man's word, a law of one's own making) magnified. Circumcision of the flesh. "we will do" - earthly Jerusalem. What would they "do" without God's Holy Spirit? A son provided by the will of man.

Belief/Faith in God's promises led Abraham to obey, having patience. God's righteousness (God's word/Law) magnified. Circumcision of the heart. "I (God) will (do)" - Heavenly Jerusalem (above). What would God "do" by the Holy Spirit? A son provided by the will of God.

The Ten Commandments, perfect righteousness, are all perfect promises of God to usward in the Everlasting/New (ratified) Covenant. God promised to write those in our heart (the mind, for the brain is two hemispheres, two tables of flesh), that we may walk in them and do them and sin no more.

CL, you read the words, "Mt. Sinai" and can only think of the Ten Commandments as the 'old covenant', but they aren't. The 'old' covenant made upon Mt. Sinai is found in Exodus 19:3-8. God's "my covenant" in found in Exodus 20:1-17.

The Law of God, Ten Commandments, exists in Heaven, in Jerusalem above, see Psalms 119:89; Hebrews 8:2; Revelation 11:19, 15:8 and no man can ever change them. They are as eternal as JEHOVAH Elohiym, being a written transcript of His perfect character (Exodus 33:12-23, 34:1-9).

No, CL, you do not understand Galatians 4, at all. For that, you need - Psalms 119:34; Acts 5:32; Romans 8:4.

1 Corinthians 10 and 1 Corinthians 15:44-46:

Jesus is Israel (Matthew 2:13-15,19-21; Hosea 11:1; his children are his disciples (they overcome with Him (1 John 2:13-14; Revelation 3:12, 12:11)); Hebrews 2:13; Isaiah 8:16,18; John 13:33), the true "overcomer" (John 16:33; Revelation 3:21), the real "Prince" with God (Isaiah 9:6; Daniel 8:11,25, 9:25, 10:13,21, 11:22, 12:1; Acts 3:15, 5:31; Revelation 1:5), being Lord over His own house, whose house are we (Psalms 98:3; Hebrews 3:6; Jeremiah 31:33), who himself is the "elect" (Isaiah 42:1; Matthew 12:18; 1 Peter 2:6) of the Father, in whom all the promises of God find their realization (2 Corinthians 1:20). The promises made by God were all based upon condition (Exodus 19).

Mat 2:13-15,19-21; Hos 11:1; Jer 31:33; Rom 9:6-8; Heb 2:13; Isa 8:16,18; Jhn 13:33, 16:33, 17:12, 18:9, 21:5; 1 Cor 15:46; 2 Cor 1:20; Gal 6:16; Heb 3:6, 8:8,10; Rev 3:21

'Israel' after the flesh, as a 'nation', is left desolate (Matthew 23:38; Luke 13:35), to bear no more fruit ever again (Matthew 21:19), cursed, withered away (Mark 11:21), dried up from the roots (Mark 11:20), "twice dead" (Jude 1:12), and the axe already laid at their root (Matthew 3:10; Luke 3:9), cut down and to be thrown into the fire.

The Sabbath was made for the Son, as a gift from the Father.

Mar 2:27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:
Col 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
Part 1 - The Creator Of Rest
In the beginning, on the seventh day after all His work, the LORD God did rest,

and turning to the man there with Him, saying, this is what I have blessed;

and down through the long ages, it would remain the gift from Heaven,

holy and sanctified, the day the Creator spent with man - seven;

a vast temple of sacred time, enclosed for the faithful steward to keep,

knowing the Shepherd worked tirelessly, to have a place for all His precious sheep;

peace-filled and tranquil, calm and nothing over to be stressed,

Oh!, what special Day with our Father!, this Sabbath of His glorious rest.

Hello @ReChoired,

You appear to suggest that Israel no longer has a part to play in the purposes of God, is this so? If so I suggest that you read Romans 11, and the Old Testament Prophets. For Israel will take up their Divinely appointed role as Priests unto God, when God shall take away their sins, and redeem them unto Himself.

I have not been able to wade through the amount of entries you have made on this, 'The Sabbath', or that of, 'The Covenant's', of which your response in part is addressing, and now that I know that this is your stance, I doubt very much if I will.

1 Corinthians 1:1-2 reads:
"Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye.
Upon the first of the Sabbaths [that is, the first of many Sabbaths to come] that everyone of you lay by him in store, as God has prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come."

The implication here is to worship and bring our offerings. And, note also that I have omitted the italicized word "day" to indicate it is not in the original manuscripts. Plus, I have replaced the word "week" with the correct translation Hebrew plural word "Sabbaton" [Sabbaths]. The same idea as what we read in Matthew 28:1.

Why has no one here ever mentioned the significance of the man who picked up sticks on the Sabbath we read about in Numbers 15? Why was the punishment so severe that God told Moses to stone him to death? What? for just picking up sticks, or is it because there was a command to do no work of any kind on the Sabbath?

The above can only come by with spiritual discernment. As a reminder Jesus spoke in parables and without a parable He did not speak. A parable is an earthly story with a heavenly meaning.

Many in here spoke about the rest we have in Jesus yet none seem to understand what it really conveys. This rest we have in Jesus has a direct parallel concept to the man who picked up sticks.

God said in Exodus 31:13
"... Verily my sabbaths you shall keep: for it is a sign [a shadow] between me and you throughout your generations..."
And, again in Exodus 31:17
"It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested and was refreshed."

BTW, when God speaks of the "sabbaths" it almost always refer to the seventh day sabbath.

Now if the sabbaths is only a sign there must be a reality. Does anyone here know what the reality is? Are you folks spiritual or do you read Scripture literally?

It's true. All of God's promises to National Israel has been fulfilled. The last fulfillment was in 1948 when Israel became a nation once again among the nations of the world. Romans 11 is speaking about the "Israel" of God [Galatians 6:16].

Actually no they have not been fulfilled

and Romans 11 is about national isreal. Those who are blinded by part. Those who are hated because of the gospel but beloved because of the promises, because the gifts of God are irrevocable
