Hi friends. I was very much hoping to hear some opinions, I could use a little help.I can't be sure about all areas, but houses are only getting more expensive here... I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on rearing children in an apartment as opposed to a house. Does it affect the kinds of friends that kids will make...? Does anyone have any advice on things to consider? I found a page from a place in Arizona offering a small guide on apartment living with children that mentioned an interesting point about playgrounds being a good indicator of kid-friendly areas. I'd be keen to hear if anyone else has any helpful ideas though.clo

Well, I don't yet have a family (coming someday) but I am familiar with the apartment experience. I'd have to say that I can see the positives as far as (given the right location) more interaction with other kids. I suppose the only shortcomings may be the noise factor and lack of space. Apartments can be very noisy depending upon the quality of construction and who lives around you. Lack of space can become a problem if there aren't playgrounds and other places for the little ones to go outside and enjoy the sun.

hello, I’ve lived in apartments all my life and raised my kids (2 daughters) in apartments in the NYC area… what me and my wife did, was always find other activities out side of our area for our kids to join in. this was to show them that maybe you don’t live in the best of areas, but this is a big world and many places for you to explore. We never allowed them to hang out side of the building like the other kids unless they were with us… and they seem to be a lot better rounded just because of this fact. It’s not that we tried to be better then anyone else but we knew a child is like a sponge they soke up everything they experience… so you have to give them a wide range of experiences. bring your child up in the ways of God and they will never stray far from that path... good luck.
