And scriptures for all! :)
@Truman the Levite Like I said, it's even in the Bible. E.g., Psalm 40: 'Mine ears hast Thou opened'; opened=Hebrew, digged, i.e., pierced, referring to the bondservant practice of ear piercing in perpetual, willing service. At least figuratively this points forward to Philippians 2 and Perfect Servant, obedient unto death, even the death of the Cross.

There was a guy who used to drive around town on his trike. His name was Snake, and he was covered in tattoos. He showed up to church one day. I heard through the grapevine that he was executed.

I understand what your TRYING to say,
it's just not being appoached in a respectful manner.
There is nothing wrong with earrings or people that wear earrings.
If there is a problem, it's not a physical problem it's a heart problem.
I honestly believe Paul is talking about women who adorn themselves for the purpose of attracting men.
Let's say prostitute. They are looking for physical attraction. Not necessarily at home.

But if a woman wants to make herself look nice for her husband or boyfriend, I don't see a problem.
I don't think Paul had a problem, but alas, he's dead and I can't ask him.

What I can do is ask the Lord, how you feel about women wearing earrings?
This is what the Lord says:
Eze 16:8 Now when I passed by thee, and looked upon thee, behold, thy time was the time of love; and I spread my skirt over thee, and covered thy nakedness: yea, I sware unto thee, and entered into a covenant with thee, saith the Lord GOD, and thou becamest mine.
Eze 16:9 Then washed I thee with water; yea, I throughly washed away thy blood from thee, and I anointed thee with oil.
Eze 16:10 I clothed thee also with broidered work, and shod thee with badgers' skin, and I girded thee about with fine linen, and I covered thee with silk.
Eze 16:11 I decked thee also with ornaments, and I put bracelets upon thy hands, and a chain on thy neck.
Eze 16:12 And I put a jewel on thy forehead, and earrings in thine ears, and a beautiful crown upon thine head.
Eze 16:13 Thus wast thou decked with gold and silver; and thy raiment was of fine linen, and silk, and broidered work; thou didst eat fine flour, and honey, and oil: and thou wast exceeding beautiful, and thou didst prosper into a kingdom.
Eze 16:14 And thy renown went forth among the heathen for thy beauty: for it was perfect through my comeliness, which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord GOD.

It's what happened after that I believe Paul is warning about...

Eze 16:15 But thou didst trust in thine own beauty, and playedst the harlot because of thy renown, and pouredst out thy fornications on every one that passed by; his it was.
Eze 16:16 And of thy garments thou didst take, and deckedst thy high places with divers colours, and playedst the harlot thereupon: the like things shall not come, neither shall it be so.
Eze 16:17 Thou hast also taken thy fair jewels of my gold and of my silver, which I had given thee, and madest to thyself images of men, and didst commit whoredom with them,
Eze 16:18 And tookest thy broidered garments, and coveredst them: and thou hast set mine oil and mine incense before them.
Eze 16:19 My meat also which I gave thee, fine flour, and oil, and honey, wherewith I fed thee, thou hast even set it before them for a sweet savour: and thus it was, saith the Lord GOD.

1Ti 2:9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
1Ti 2:10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

It's not the fact that a woman wears anything whether it be nice clothes, or jewelry, or perfume.
It's, having trust in those things beauty, instead of ones own inner beauty.

So yeah, I agree to some extent what your saying, but your not seeing the whole picture.
Your just judging according to appearences on the outside, when you should be looking at the heart.
This is rich. Lol.

"Look at the heart to understand the wearing of earrings." Lol. Do you ... wear an earring ... ? Is that why you are mindlessly defending earrings?

Paul says nothing about praying upon the matter, about the conditiin of the earring wearer's heart, "respecting" rights to wear an earring, trying to "look nice for a husband," even the idea of "having a boyfriend, which in itself is an error when it involves physically attracting him.

Just answer this simple question:. Where do you get this trash from? Your religion in church?

(The title of the thread seems truly very unusual...)
It was meant to insult and be offensive to get a rise out of people.
Mostly women.
Because not many men care if women wear jewelry or not.
It was a direct insult to and for women.
And that kind of thinking can stay over in the middle east.
We won't have sharia law here.
I won't wear a covid mask, I'm surely not wearing a burka.
Unless I choose to. Not because someone says I have to.
That don't work here in the USA.
We live in the God given land of Liberty.

I suspect in the coming future we're going to be seeing a lot more of this.
Cultures are going to begin clashing. Between the southern border and people being flown in from Afghanistan..
It's going to be different.
And I don't have a problem with people having their cultures, Just don't try to force them on other people.
People want to change, that's their business.

Jesus never forced anyone to accept Him.
He just gave an invitation, it's up to the individual to accept it or not.

Thems my thoughts.
Hugs

Using words like 'trash' in relation to those who express their own views on the subject is - reasonably understood - intended indeed to insult and be offensive; I agree.

Fact is, once a girl or young woman gets to a certain age, having some studs clicked into their earlobes is a very natural development; and so many Godly women would likely think it a perfectly benign development.

I notice that above you shared your own thoughts, and nothing from Scripture.

What is the name of the Church you attend?

No place in Scripture has the instruction for Christ's People to be "natural." Thanks for sharing the integrity of your thoughts on this matter.

Have a lovely weekend.

Hmmmm…….I wonder if the writer of this post chooses what to wear and how he should look when he leaves his house and goes to work. Does he perhaps consider how ‘ he looks ‘ earrings are such a small part of adornment. In this society it is clothes that draw attention to others, not earrings, and that applies to everyone. Pride comes in many forms and actually homing in on one group with one thing is like looking at the speck in someone else’s eye while ignoring the plank in your own !!!
Just for the record, I don’t wear makeup, I seldom wear earrings, but I do care about how I look when I leave the house, not because I want to attract anyone’s attention, I do it because I it’s my personal responsibility.

If I didn’t do my hair, wash, clean my teeth, put on decent clothes I think I would show lack of responsibility !
It’s about the motive behind what we do …………….and that applies to men as well as women.

Ear piercing is in the Bible; and the Lord Himself gave earrings to Zion, figuratively speaking, in Ezekiel. A reasonable understanding of Christian liberty (Romans 14) would involve people making their own decisions about so many things.

@Ziggy: You see, for example, I have quoted various Scriptures relative to ear piercing - it's in the Bible - but I'm not surprised that this has not made the slightest difference.

You don't have to convince me brother.
Some people just come here to aggrevate.
I posted almost the entire Chapter 16 of Ezekiel..
it's pointless really.

And when someone thinks they can judge you and you know they don't even know you,
why bother listening..
If they had known me, like many here know me, they know I don't wear jewelry.
But they don't know me.
That's why they have to attack me thinking I am protecting earrings because I wear them.

See how dishonest that is?

Apparently they are bored and we're giving them ammunition to keep arguing with.
And I'm actually considering taking a nap, it's almost 4 am.
Time flies when your having fun

I just hope that folk out there seeing such extreme statements as have been made about Godly women looking yet modest and natural don't think they are even remotely representative of Biblical Christianity.

I just hope folk out there understand that God looks at your heart not your blue jeans and tshirt..
I'd be in big trouble if that were the case.
I'm sure there's an argument about women wearing pants, but that's a whole other hive of hornets.
