Imagine living in a world where everyone is honest.

When someone sees you they call you an ugly child… cause to them honestly you are ugly…

When someone is straight forward and honest with no though for your feelings…

Are you willing to lie to keep from hurting someone’s feelings?

What are thoughts on a world filled with people who were always complete honest and have NO REGARD for you as an INDIVIDUAL who has feelings!

My last lie was about 2 months ago. It was sort of a Davidlike lie in that it was a lie of omission rather than a spoken lie. I had convinced myself I hadn't done anything wrong because blah, blah, blah. It took me about 6 weeks before I made it right.

Mine was easy and avoided a lot of unnecessary inconvenience. I had to battle myself because I wanted to say that it wasn't a big deal, that no harm was done. But I know better.
I find one of the hardest things about this walk is thinking that I've reached a certain place and then having to admit to myself that I haven't.

No matter how you paint it, a lie is a lie and the Word of God says that all liars will have their part in the lake of fire. So I'd suggest not to be willfully breaking His commandments.

Hebrews 10:26-29 (KJV) ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ²⁶ For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, ²⁷ But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. ²⁸ He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: ²⁹ Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

The commandment does not say THOU SHALT NOT LIE, it says not to bear false testimony AGAINST your neighbor, and there is a difference.

God commands us not to lie to hurt someone, He does not tell us to never lie.

Rehab was commended by God for lying to save the two spies that she hid.

Germans who lied to save lives of Jews from the Nazis did not sin, either.

Yes, I understand the wording. And yet, He said that all liars will have their part in the lake of fire. (Rev 21:8)

Revelation 21:27
[27]And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.

Acts 17:30
[30]And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

In the writings of Corrie Ten Boom, a woman of God, we find where she lied to the Germans to protect the Jews. Her sister Betsie refused to lie for any reason. It took Corrie a long time to truly understand her sister's point of view.

Of course Betsie was right with regard to lies even as she was right in praying more earnestly even for the German guards who physically abused them than for the victims of the abuse. Who needed God's help the most?

God recognizes where we are and effectively in our times of weakness and ignorance may wink at our short comings, but if we refuse to strive to grow and to ask Him to help us to grow, may we not reach the end of mercy and of winking on the part of God?

"Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice;
Surely they shall not see the land which I sware unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that provoked me see it:
But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it." Numbers 14:22-24

There you go making sense again...and look at the things you do it with...wisdom, insight, and revelation! How dare you!!! Lol
I think it's referring to a heart condition that is characterized and manifested by lying...but I'm sure you already knew that!
Know-more-than-me-it-all! Lol

Don't give that all to me, my friend. Remember that any good thing from me is of God, but sometimes things that are not good come from me and they are not of God! Alone I can do nothing... nothing good that is.! Give God the glory!

Rehab and the harlot mentioned already by others here, certainly lied, yet addition to reading about her in the Book of Joshua we also find her here:

"By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace." Heb 11:31

At the time she lied [as men understand lies] to save the Hebrew spies. She did what she could in the way that she knew. All of us start out as babes in Christ.

Rahab needed to grow still and we need to grow still. God sees our hearts even when we are very ignorant and so He is merciful , but He expects us to move with Him from that lowly starting point away from our ignorance. To remain still is to eventually stagnate and, yes, to die!

"He must increase, but I must decrease." John 3:30

The Way of the new man in us must increase, while the ways of the old man in us must decrease.

It’s never us that do any good! Oh how joyous and to understand this is great. Miles ahead will a person be if they understand it is God that is coming through them by the spirit of Christ in them that causes good to come about, you can say Fruit.

As believers all are branch’s that do nothing. Except stay attached to the Vine (Christ) and the Father is the Vinedresser?. Sometimes branch’s get sick though they may have blockage in them that might be keeping the nutritious to come through. They may even become dead and they are cut off (they themselves stop having faith).

Faith is where it starts… love is the result of having faith, trust, confidence, looking towards God as your provider.

Thank you for mentioning because it always from God that good things come (spiritual love - 1 Corinthians 13 style!) :)

With love in Christ to all of you,
Take care,
Matthew G

And we know from the commandment that it’s liars who lie against someone or to hurt someone that is meant - otherwise after being commended and honored by God for lying, Rahab will be tossed into the lake of fire.
Hebrews 11:31

It wasn't Rahab's lie that God commended her for. It was her works of faith. She believed on the one true God, and received the spies, and sent them out. She most likely didn't know the commandment of God not to lie.

Nowhere in scripture does it say that she was commended for lying, which was a sin. ALL of us have sinned and fallen short, and if we believe on Christ, we have all been recipients of God's mercy, grace, and forgiveness. He blesses us despite out failures, not because of them.
