The order of headship was indeed established by God (1 Corinthians 11:3). How fallen man has handled it isn't, necessarily, and yet it's apparent God recognizes that fact and even allowed Moses to accommodate it (Matthew 19:8), and so he established laws to govern the way men of times past exercised their role of head of woman (i.e. how to divorce, etc.).

Any which way you want to justify killing a raped woman is your business.
Regardless it has no place in Christianity.

Well if that was your intent, it's my opinion that you failed miserably. I base that on your OP. I agree with you on the points you made in the quote above. But I see nothing about that in your OP when you were claiming to be the Johnny Appleseed of being good and claiming its not hard to live a near sinless life.

I have no problem if that's your intent now... We grow and evolve.

I did not want to steer the topic because I wanted people to think and hold a discussion.

The tread is about "Why do you feel it is so hard to be good?"
Why?
I am saying it is not hard to be good. Prove me wrong.
Now it is impossible to be perfect....I am talking what is hard.
It is a worth while discussion because I think people are getting it wrong.
So tell me.

The Bible calls Christ's teachings commandments and laws. But Christ's teachings are just that, and we are his followers. He is our example of morality.

That ministry of death engraved in stones....we are not part of that ministry. We are part of a better covenant, enacted on better promises.

I hate to call them rules, but some Christians spend their time straining at a gnat and swallow a camel. You have to know the rules that apply to Christians. It is not game, but how do you win if you do not know the rules? How do you obey Christ if you do not know the rules. What to do and what not to do.

The 613 Mosaic Laws failed, because they were written in stone. We do not want to sell our daughters to be sex slaves. We are Christians we follow the teachings of the New Testament. Laws written in stone make a wall with holes in it. Always a way to get around them. Christ teachings are a higher moral standard that there is no way around them because they are based on the mind and the heart. So what we need to explore is what is that Christian standard. Christ said that His yoke is easy and His burden is light...believe that.

Post 36 This was to you
Trust me I run into this a lot. You mention perspective. You say be good and do good and people flip out. "NO ONE IS GOOD BUT GOD WE ARE ALL DIRTY RAGS...DUNG IN THE DITCH!"

But that is not the understanding and perspective we are talking about. Simply obeying the morals in the New Testament. And here we can discuss those morals and separate them from man-made morals...LOL...old and new.

When Paul wrote to the churches, he referred to them as saints. Christ did not get nailed to that cross to start a religion of evil followers. LOL They say the dress makes the man. Well Christians should consider themselves good....as wearing a white suit and you don't want to get it dirty. So what gets your suit dirty? I am condoning that it is not that hard to keep it white.

So tell me
Well, I have. Several times now, and my patience is now worn out. If you don't like the answer, then simply say so. It would be nice if you said what you don't like about the answer.... But if you don't, so be it.

Well Christians should consider themselves good...
You don't think they do? Frankly, I think a bigger problem is that they think they are good, but are hypocritical and judgmental, and aren't as good as they think they are. Paul warned against that in Romans 12.

But even so, with your continuously moving line in the sand (from living a near sinless life to being "good", whatever that may mean) do you really think most Christians (and specifically those on this forum) are so dastardly?

Yeah, many have problems and aren't living a near sinless life... But by confessing it, they show they are working on it.

Ok then help me out with this discussion.....Clint
What do you think I have been doing? My names not Clint, by they way... I am no more Clint Eastwood than you are some muscle bound freak who doesn't have enough sense to wear proper gear during metallurgy... Trying to hammer and craft a sword (the Word of God) to fit your liking, instead of letting the sword craft you.

In short, my avatar can beat up your avatar! Quit trying to be cute.

Something specific....

You don't think they do?
Just look at the answer here on the form....there are some here on the forum that flat out will tell you that no one is good...it is like they cannot keep things in perspective

I think a bigger problem is that they think they are good, but are hypocritical and judgmental, and aren't as good as they think they are.

Frankly LOL I do not run into that. I go to several churches and I just do not run into that much. I have to tolerate some sermons on the evils of drinking and smoking. Most people I know are not that judgmental.

But even so, with your continuously moving line in the sand (from living a near sinless life to being "good", whatever that may mean) do you really think most Christians (and specifically those on this forum) are so dastardly?

I would not use the word "most"

Yeah, many have problems and aren't living a near sinless life... But by confessing it, they show they are working on it.

Confessing can be good...and discussing can be better.
My names not Clint, by they way... I am no more Clint Eastwood than you are some muscle bound freak who doesn't have enough sense to wear proper gear during metallurgy..

LOL I considered it a complement.

Trying to hammer and craft a sword (the Word of God) to fit your liking, instead of letting the sword craft you.

I am a freak of nature.

In short, my avatar can beat up your avatar!
If you only knew! LOL

Already addressed that. I take it that you are not a child and I am not so easily pulled into foolishness.

Frankly LOL I do not run into that. I go to several churches and I just do not run into that much. I have to tolerate some sermons on the evils of drinking and smoking
Well then you don't get out much. Then again, those that are hypocritical and judgmental don't believe they are guilty of such.

I would not use the word "most"
But is it what you were thinking? No need to answer...

LOL I considered it a complement.
Really? I somehow doubt that.

Focus on what I say... Not my avatar. Like I said, its there to make another member happy through friendship.

I am a freak of nature
Well I have no knowledge of your physical stature, but otherwise I suspect that to be true.

If you only knew! LOL
Clint shoots people. Your avatar has a short hammer.

Now unless you have something important to say, I will retire.

LOL we are talking about why it is hard to be good.

Why is it hard to be good? Well, one reason is that there is “ pleasure in sin”..... even the Bible admits to that.....and who does not like pleasure?

Another reason is because we are engaged in “ Spiritual Warfare”...... we do not fight against Fresh and Blood .....we are fighting “ The World , The Flesh and the Devil”....... we battle against “the powers of this dark world, and the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms....”

The deck is stacked against us from the beginning.....we are no match for Satan, but “ greater is He that is in us, than he that is in the world”.....Wanna Be “ Good?” Better make sure that * HE* is in you......Get THAT by Believing the Gospel Of 1Cor15:1-4....

But I say that the path to hell is paved with justifying your sins.

The “ path to Hell” is trying to justify yourself by your “ lack” of sins.....

I think one of the things I find most surprising among fellow believers is their inability to just let others believe differently than them.
Not everyone likes attacking and being attacked by those who they disagree with. Time to go back to Love 101.
It's like, "I have to convince others that I am right in order to be convinced that I am right." I can tell someone if I believe they're in error, but after that, if they don't believe and truly are wrong, I'm resolved of my responsibility and their blood is on their head.
Then they're God's responsibility. It is my job to live, as far as it is in my power to do so, at peace with others. Sure, your heart is sanctified! Gimme a break. There's a river in Egypt called Denial.

. There is no down side to obedience

Sure there is! If you think you are going to make it to Heaven because of your “ Obedience” —— you will be damned.Count on it.

It is not just the immorality of the Law but the spirit of the law that was seriously flawed.

Methinks God will decide that his All - Knowing “Critic” will turn out to be the one that was “ Flawed” ....Criticizing the “ Spirit” Of The Law—- God's Perfect Will ,whether YOU understand and approve of it—- is approaching Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit..... Man, you got some nerve....

If it is in our heart to murder . . . what is our correct response?

To say, Murder is against Law, so don't do it!

Or to say, Murder isn't love, and I want to love, so God help me to love!

Much love!

It should be noted that if you simply HATE somebody , God considers you the equal Of a murderer...
