If people are NOT told Jesus loves them... there's not much use in telling them about the kingdom.
On the contrary, telling them about the Kingdom gives them some hope for the future, especially when they see the world falling apart around them.
Australians are a largely hedonistic mob and not very religious at all, so if I rocked up to someone to tell them Jesus loves them, they would probably fall over laughing....and ask me "Jesus who?"

You have to approach them with something they can relate to.....like the poor quality of human governments. Would they like to see better government? If so what would it look like?
Or how politicians never keep their promises, wouldn't it be nice to have a ruler who always did?
There are lots of family and relationship problems under Cv19 pressures, so asking if there is any help we can offer to help them mend some broken fences perhaps?

You have to sneak up on them if you want to discuss religion.....because they hate religion......and politics is a joke.

It is religions themselves that bear the blame for their animosity mostly. They have become somewhat of a dinosaur in the world, and many Aussies would be happy to be rid of all of them I think.....politicians too.

Give them more long weekends and beer and they'd be happy as pigs in mud.....after lockdowns of course.

Is this a good idea or a bad one? On the one hand, maybe some of the people I come into contact with really need to hear that Jesus loves them. Maybe that could even plant a seed that grows into true faith down the line. OTOH, if people are told that Jesus loves them, they may think God doesn't desire them to repent of the sins they are committing, and they become more secure in their sins. I feel like if I don't do it I'm being a coward and failing to acknowledge Jesus before others, which the bible instructs us to do. Lately this is how I've been feeling. Can anyone else relate? I want to be evangelical and I want to work for our Lord and savior. I'm just not entirely sure how to do so. I'm not exactly a gifted orator or gifted at convincing people of things. Any advice?

God bless

You got a youtube? Can share the bible; maybe start a bible study with others?

Your version of Christianity and mine are totally different.... Jesus NEVER snuck up on people... This is NOT a game of deception... Catch them while they're NOT LOOKING.... GOOD GRIEF....

I think you have said more than enough... NOT interested thanks... but if you have beer... leave it at my door.

Live by the spirit and encourage with the spirit in you of the truths of God.

God does love all people...

Now you have to discern how one should go about presenting this message; God will lead you through that if you trust Him.

Yep, we're all different and so are scenarios we come across by happenstance.

Haven't see you around for awhile, hope all is well with you.

Glory to God,
Taken
yoo too :)

Oh I already do that, but it best to do it at the right time when people are.receptive to the gospel. If they want to know what I believe for example
Hi @GodsBeloved11 We are all different, but in the end it's all about having a desire in the heart to tell others, right? :)

"But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear" (1 Peter 3.15).

well, so she maybe employed an analogy that didnt sit with you, but there is a sense in which Jesus sneaks up on everyone, i think? Paul’s “when in Rome” passages, rephrased?

Its just a different dynamic from someone say knocking on your door uninvited to tell you something you are prolly not receptive to. I mean, can you find Jesus cornering anyone uninvited to preach the kingdom at them? They always ask first, dont they?

Which is how I see forcing people to hear about a kingdom they don't want to know about before telling them JESUS loves them. WASTE of time... and quite ARROGANT in my opinion (that seems to be getting less and less humble these days)... thinking I might be due for a break from the forums... LOL

ha ok then
i’ll just suggest that you can also demonstrate the kingdom to ppl w/o ever saying “Jesus” and be quite effective, too :)

bc generally speaking, wont it go like this?
“Jesus loves you”
“ok, gotta give this one a wide berth”

but again, you might get away with something that another would not, and everyone is different

I'm feeling compelled to say it because those who acknowledge Jesus before others will be acknowledged by Him on the day of His visitation.

Thank you Mark....I always see Jesus and the apostles taking advantage of every opportunity to get the Kingdom message out to people.
We should too, especially now when they see the whole world in chaos and wonder what is coming.....? There will never be a "back to normal"...life has changed, and there is no going back.....the promises are empty. :( Their solutions are failing dismally.....but the Bible tells us what comes next.....exciting times. (Luke 21:28)

All the best,
Jane

I'd like to let the Bible speak for itself in this forum, and not let my "religion" or yours interfere with the discussion. Is that OK with you? :)

I think of the words of the Lord Jesus in Mark 16.15: "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature."

The gospel means 'good news'. :)

There is a time and place....as Paul said, he didn't want to waste his energy speaking into the air.....he wanted his efforts to count for something. No point in talking to deaf ears. (Matthew 10:11-15)

Jesus instructed his disciples in Matthew 28:19-20...."Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to follow all that I commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
You can't 'make disciples' of people just by telling them that Jesus loves them....they need more than that....Jesus said to 'teach them', which means spending time instructing them about "all the things" he taught....not just some of the convenient things. In order to be "teachers" we ourselves must have the knowledge to impart to them. Its not an emotional trip, but one that involves both minds and hearts.

I think that is actually a problem... when people start debates and don't honestly place all their cards on the table about which direction they are coming from.

It's important to know WHO we are talking to.... athiest... JW... Mormon... Catholic... etc... it sets the stage for better communication when you can know WHICH DIRECTION your opponent is coming from. It also clears up a lot of misunderstandings from the get go.

None of us live in a vacuum and very few of us have original thoughts. There are certain emphasis's that reveal where the streams of thought come from which in itself is not a problem because we are all subject to influences from somewhere.
Problems exist when the obvious is denied and self honesty becomes subservient to image.

I think problems in these forums exist when people do not properly identify their beliefs... that and/or they arrive thinking they are God's gift to the world... on a mission to EDUCATE the masses... LOL

Just me... Addy is getting awfully cautious these days and perhaps a tinge sceptical... Certainly less and less impressed with what people are saying.
