1Sa 17:45 Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.

Psa 28:7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.

Psa 5:12 For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.

Pro 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

Eph 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

We are clothed in Him. He is our Armour. And we put on the Lord Jesus Christ.
He is our hope and shield.

Psa 119:114 Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.

Good thread.
Thank You

Powerful scriptures that can give us confidence to trust Him if we have faith in His Word to do what it says it will do. :)

@Pearl shared this wonderful scripture with the ladies this morning...check out verse 17....do we serve a mighty God or what?
2 Chronicles 20:15-17
2 Chronicles 20 (KJV)
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
¹⁵ And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's.
¹⁶ To morrow go ye down against them: behold, they come up by the cliff of Ziz; and ye shall find them at the end of the brook, before the wilderness of Jeruel.
¹⁷ Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you.

There is a bit of a catch to maturing in our faith...it has to be saddled with love.
As important as faith is...without love faith is lost.

"We couldn't live our lives without faith or hope: without faith, we cannot know the God of love; without hope, we would not endure in our faith until we meet him face to face. But in spite of the importance of faith and hope, love is even more crucial.
Why is love the greatest?
Because without love, the Bible teaches there can be no redemption. In Scripture we learn that God is love (1 John 4:8) and that he sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to die for us — a supreme act of sacrificial love. Love is what motivated God the Father to send His only Son to die for us. Thus, love is the virtue upon which all Christian faith and hope now stand.
For the believer, love is the foundation for every good thing in our lives. Without love, nothing else matters.

Fairchild, Mary. (2020, August 28). Faith, Hope, and Love: 1 Corinthians 13:13. Retrieved from Know the Meaning of the "Faith, Hope, and Love" Bible Verse

But focusing on faith....
Faith to me is like the motor in a car...all the energy to power this car to move comes from the motor.

Hope I am not moving too fast....
But moving forward...how is it that we can speak confidently that we have faith in Him for nothing is impossible to God...
We testify, we witness, and we confess our faith to trust Him...
And then.....BOOM! Something happens... a tragedy, sickness and disease, death, loss of income...any situation that can challenge us to have faith and trust God....do we live by example of what we preach?
I suck at it...and I have been praying and asking God to increase my faith...
Maybe that's why He gave me a new understanding of our armor and what we a fighting for....my faith is constantly under attack. Well that's going to change...i mean the outcome is....
Glory to God!

@Heart2Soul I think part of the key is the Spirit Who indwells each believer crying "Abba, Father' (Romans 8).... :)

"Though thy way be long and dreary,
Eagle strength He'll still renew,
Garments fresh and foot unweary
Tell how God hath brought thee through."

..I have been meditating on the armor of God and it suddenly hit me.

So here is the sequence of how my thoughts went.
Daily putting on the Armor of God requires salvation (helmet), righteousness in Him (breastplate), Truth (loin cloth...the knowledge and rightfully discerning His Truth), knowing His Word through diligent study (shoes, feet shod with preparation of the Gospel), Discernment (Sword of Truth...rightly dividing any false teaching), Faith (Shield to ward off Satan's attacks).
I am convinced beyond any doubt that it is our faith that we are protecting against the enemy in our lives.
Guarding our faith is harder than it sounds isn't it?

Yes I agree we must put on the whole armor of God to fight for our faith for our love for the True God YHWH.

(1)Helmet of salvation: we must meditated, or think deeply, about the things that YHWH has promised. It shouldn't be simply that we have heard or read about YHWH. We should continue steadfast as seeing the One who is invisible.” (Hebrews 11:24-27) The True God YHWH and his promises of everlasting life should be forever real to us, if we are to resist Satan’s attacks successfully.
Our Christian hope is compared to a helmet because it protects our mind. 1 Thessalonians 5:8. Although we have made our mind over by means of accurate knowledge of God’s Word, we are still weak, imperfect humans. Our mind can easily become corrupted. Goals of this system of things can distract us or even replace our God-given hope. Romans 7:18; 12:2
If we fill our mind with the dreams and goals of this system of things instead of keeping in mind the hope ahead, our faith in God’s promises will get weaker. In time, we could even lose our hope completely. On the other hand, if we regularly meditate on the promises of God, we will continue to rejoice in the hope set before us. Romans 12:12.

(2)loins girded about with truth: In Bible times, What was the most important activity in the life of Jesus? He told the Roman Governor Pontius Pilate: ‘I have come into the world to bear witness to the truth.’ Jesus preached whenever he found a hearing ear, and he enjoyed his ministry so much that he gave it priority over his physical needs. (John 4:5-34; 18:37) If we, like Jesus, are eager to declare the good news, we will find many opportunities to share it with others. Furthermore, our being absorbed in our ministry will help keep us spiritually strong. Acts 18:5. Paul used the soldier’s belt to illustrate the extent to which Scriptural truth should influence our lives. It should be tightly wrapped around us, so that we live in harmony with the truth and can defend it on any occasion. (Psalm 43:3; 1 Peter 3:15) So we should study the Bible diligently and meditate on its contents. Jesus had God’s law ‘within his heart. (Psalm 40:8) When questioned by opposers, he could therefore respond by quoting the Scriptures from memory.Matthew 19:3-6; 22:23-32.
When we allow Bible truth to guide us, it can protect us from faulty reasoning and enable us to make wise decisions. During times of temptation or trial, the Bible’s guidelines will strengthen our resolve to do what is right. In effect, we will see our Grand Instructor, YHWH and will hear a word behind us saying: “This is the way. Walk in it.” Isaiah 30:20, 21.

(3) Feet shod the the equipment of the good news of peace:
Paul appropriately used footwear to represent our readiness to preach the Kingdom message to everyone who will listen. This is important because how will people come to know YHWH if we are not ready and willing to preach? Romans 10:13-15.
What was the most important activity in the life of Jesus? He told the Roman Governor Pontius Pilate: ‘I have come into the world to bear witness to the truth.’ Jesus preached whenever he found a hearing ear, and he enjoyed his ministry so much that he gave it priority over his physical needs. (John 4:5-34; 18:37) If we, like Jesus, are eager to declare the good news, we will find many opportunities to share it with others. Furthermore, our being absorbed in our ministry will help keep us spiritually strong.. Acts 18:5.

(4) large shield of faith: The Greek word translated “large shield” refers to a shield that was large enough to cover most of the body. It will provide protection from the “burning missiles” referred to at Ephesians 6:16. In Bible times, soldiers used darts made out of hollow reeds having small iron receptacles that could be filled with burning naphtha. One scholar describes these darts as “one of the most dangerous weapons in ancient warfare.” If a soldier did not have a large shield to protect himself from such missiles, he could be gravely injured or even killed.
What “burning missiles” does Satan employ to undermine our faith? He may promote persecution or opposition in the family, at work, or at school. A desire to possess more and more material things and the lure of immorality have also proved spiritually devastating in the case of some. To protect ourselves against such threats, “above all things, [we must] take up the large shield of faith.” Faith comes from learning about the True God YHWH, regularly communicating with him in prayer, and discerning how he protects and blesses us. Joshua 23:14; Luke 17:5; Romans 10:17.

When Jesus was on earth, he demonstrated the importance of having strong faith during critical times. He totally trusted his Father’s decisions and was delighted to do God’s will. Matthew 26:42, 53, 54; John 6:38 Even when experiencing great anguish in the garden of Gethsemane, Jesus said to his Father: “Not as I will, but as you will. Matthew 26:39. Jesus never lost sight of the importance of keeping integrity and making his Father rejoice. Proverbs 27:11 If we have similar confidence in the True God YHWH, we will not let criticism or opposition weaken our faith. Instead, our faith will be strengthened if we rely on God, show love for him, and keep his commandments. Psalm 19:7-11; 1 John 5:3 No material rewards or fleeting sensual pleasure can compare with the blessings Jehovah has in store for those who love him.. Proverbs 10:22.

(5) The Sword of the Spirit: God’s word, or message, recorded in the Bible is like a powerful two-edged sword that can cut down religious falsehood and help right hearted people find spiritual freedom. John 8:32; Hebrews 4:12
This spiritual sword can also defend us when we are assaulted by temptations or apostate attempts to destroy our faith. 2 Corinthians 10:4, 5 How thankful we are that ‘all Scripture is inspired of God and completely equips us for every good work’! 2 Timothy 3:16, 17.
When he was tempted by Satan in the wilderness, Jesus effectively used the sword of the spirit to fend off false reasoning and cunning temptations. To each challenge of Satan, he replied: “It is written.” Matthew 4:1-11 The True Gods people around the world find that the Scriptures helped them to overcome temptations. For example true Christians who work in businesses with attractive young woman who suggested that they “have a good time together.” Have rejected their advances and asked their supervisors for work in a different area so that the situation would not arise again. “They remember the example of servants of the True God like Joseph. “He rejected immorality and immediately got out of the way. Genesis 39:10-12.

Now here is another thought to ponder....
Faith and the Word are held in our hands....we don't wear them like the rest of the armor....we USE them.....wow!...now I don't know about you but things are starting to get a whole lot clearer to me...
There are numerous scriptures that references our spiritual garments..
Robe of righteousness
Garland of Praise
Garment of Salvation
Etc...etc
Also our garments are called filthy rags ...just an fyi

White robes/raiment/garments are the righteousness of saints, but the church at Sardis defiled theirs and was warned to repent, as an FYI about garments...

Even worse, the laodicean church lost their garments completely and were naked, though they thought they were still clothed..

The Apostle Paul and I are in agreement, the Apostle Paul teaches that those who believe Jesus is Jehovah Gods Christ and confesses that Jehovah God has made Jesus our Lord and exercises faith that Jehovah God has resurrected Jesus Christ from the dead will be saved. Verse 13 says all those calling on Jehovah will be saved.
I had a king James Bible long before I became a Jehovah witness and at Romans 10:13 where the word Lord is at, there was a little letter beside that word Lord and when you went to the margin of the Bible and looked at that letter it said that the lord in verse 13 was Jehovah, not Jesus. You pray to Jehovah God through the name Jesus Christ because Jesus is Jehovah God Christ and Jehovah God has made Jesus our Lord and king and our High Priest between Jehovah God and mankind

That’s because God set it up so those with a shallow and limited understanding of the scriptures only need understand that He is Gods son to be saved.

And Jehovah is still a made up name for God, and has an extra syllable because of that little fact.
