Just registered today. I’m glad this forum exists. I’m a Christian and have read the Bible with emphasis on the New Testament. I believe the Bible is wonderful, inspirational, devotional, but the one thing it cannot be is historically accurate.

The gospels differ, which isn’t the issue. In many instances they have conflicting detail which cannot be reconciled. Matthew and Luke differ on Joseph’s father, Mark and Acts differ on the circumstances of Judas’ death, Mark and John differ on what day of the week Jesus died. Matthew has wise men visiting baby Jesus, Luke has shepherds. Mark and Matthew differ on when the stone was rolled away from Jesus’ tomb. Mark and Luke differ on when the curtain was torn at the temple. I could go on and on and on. Any thoughts?

Hello and Welcome. That sentence should say "can" instead of "cannot". So now it is up to you to put all the accounts side-by-side and then work out the details. Because the Bible is INSPIRED, it is INERRANT. And because it is INERRANT it is also INFALLIBLE.

Your answer avoids the issue. You’re trying to fit a square peg in a round hole.

Pick one. Let's look at it.

You've made assertions without substantiation.

One of your examples is very simple, shepherds and magi visited Jesus. Where is the contradiction? Can't both have come? I don't know why you would see this as contradictory.

Much love!

How did Judas die and who bought the field of blood? And why was it called the field of blood?

Did Jesus die before or after the Passover meal?

Did Jesus die before or after the Passover meal?
He ate the meal with them , so that should be a real simple answer .
AND YET HE IS THE TRUE PASSOVER LAMB .
For all who eat of His flesh and drink of His blood , God shall pass over and they shall be safe as HIS WRATH STRIKES THIS WORLD .
Enter into the Ark , the body of CHRIST , while they is still time to do so . And let all that has breath praise the glorious Lord .

You want others to do your homework, do you?
I know the answer cookie. Mark has him die the morning after the Passover meal. John has time the afternoon before the Passover meal. Rather than embrace truth and facts, you cling to having to believe inerrancy.

Truth and facts are what the Word of God is all about. As to your shoddy interpretation, I trust no one will take it seriously. Without inerrancy you have nothing.

Hi sir, welcome to the forum. The gospels are God's word of course, penned through the hands of men. God allowed them a measure of freedom to write in their own style, and they compliment each other in providing somewhat differing details. Sometimes you can see lifestyle in their writing for instance Luke was a physician, and has more of an outlook medically, whereas Matthew was a tax collector, and has a more law type of approach to his words.

The Bible of course does not contradict itself, some translations do, but not so bad that it cannot be understood. If we perceive a contradiction it is our understanding that is at fault. Perhaps I can address some of your concerns if you ask me directly 7.

Matthew and Luke differ on who Joseph’s father was. The inventive explanation is that Luke’s genealogy is Mary’s side of the family. No where in Luke is that stated. My point is that the Bible has wonderful inspiration messages but we cannot treat it as an inerrant history book.

Show me which passages you see as contradicting each other. Post both, or all that apply, quote them, and show the preceived conflict. If you actually want to understand this.

Much love!

I don't know what an "answer cookie" is . . . but show the Scriptures you find contradictory, and show the contradiction. If you want to know.

Much love!
