Well that's what some of these posts seem to imply....to me anyway.
Good morning!

It is only as good as you can do.
Be good and do good....the best you can.
There are scriptures that throw people off. It is hard to educate people on the religious literary style of the time. Be righteous...no one is righteous...be perfects as your Father in heaven...no one is perfect...no one that knows Christ, sins..."My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.".....He that commits sin is of the devil....If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness....The Bible never contradicts itself....the Bible constantly contradicts itself....I gave you the list and this is one of the reasons I gave you the list....it is a form of writing....a literary form....in other words written that way intentionally. It is like the old story The Emperor's New Clothes---Hans Christian Anderson...where no one would admit that the Emperor was naked. In this case because they will not admit the truth...the truth is hidden from them.

God the Father and God the Son are not stupid. A plan to save mankind....a plan to teach them a higher moral code...a plan to establish a relationship with mankind like had never had been before. A plan to offer Heaven to mankind for the first time. God's creation, men and women, was / are not perfect. There could be no plan that required perfection...But God the Father requires perfection...zero tolerance to sin!!....but through His Grace Christ presents us to His Father perfected through Him. But to get that done this plan required Yeshua, the Son of God to go through the Passion and be nailed to a cross.....this plan was put together by God the Father and God the Son.....a dangerous plan!!! Put it would have a high success rate.

"We all" LOL Only can do the best we can. Some are better at it than others. Some stumble more....and fight the nature that haunts them....that effort....that intent....means something to Christ....It counts!!!...Even if the person has troubles....the intent means something.... keep up the good fight! Salvation is secure! Walk with Christ everyday....talk with Christ everyday!
Be good and do good...

How do i let God handle my sin? This is something i dont understand. I have asked the Lord to take it away more times than i can remember, yet here i am, sinning just the same.

Perhaps you should do the same thing with your Sin that God does —- Put It on the Cross and leave it there. Then thank God for the Grace that Covers that sin and every other Sin that you will ever commit in your life.....If you are a Believer in the Gospel , your Sins have been taken care of before you even ask....Confess them to God to restore a damaged Relationship.....NOT to restore your Salvation......THAT was a GIFT , given to you at the moment that you Believed 1Cor15:1-4.....

If you are a Believer, God has taken All Of your Sins and threw them into the “deepest depths of the Ocean”....they have been taken away “ as far as the East is from the West” where He “ Remembers them NO MORE”.......

This is not setting up a Scenario where you can take Grace and use it as a License to Sin.....Never be Foolish enough to think that you can Sin and “ Get Away with It”.......As you Sin and then BOLDLY come to God's Throne Of Grace, just remember that as a Child Of God, the Father that forgave you will be the Same Father That will CHASTIZE you for your Sinning.....God is very patient with His Children, but as any earthly Patent would do , He will eventually punish errant Children and just like us as parents, He will be doing it for their own good......

Sin at your own risk, but even though you will not be damned for your Sinning, sooner or later God will take you to His “ Wood- Shed” and give you a Blistering you will not soon forget ! Believers can be Foolish or they can be Wise.....Be wise ......Pray to God that He Help you with your “Besetting Sins” ( we all have them! ) do the best that you can and as I said, “Thank Him for His Grace” and move on, concentrating on the thing that got you Saved in the First Place.....Your FAITH ! Not your “ Mastery over Sin”......Let That Holy Spirit That is within you now (only if you are RESTING in the Gospel Of Grace ) —let that Spirit hang around long enough and those sins will have a tendency to just kinda drop off, without you having to try so hard.......God Bless......

Thank you for the message @Lifelong_sinner ... I am praying for you... There is much information in this thread.... some of it is truth and some of it is legalism... which only serves to keep the focus on yourself and your sin. I think you have reflected that you have had it up to your eyeballs trying to BE good... the truth is that ONLY GOD is good... this formula of "be good and do good" is an invented phrase... and it simply does NOT work because it keeps you focusing on yourself instead of CHRIST.

Legalism births hypocrisy and hidden sin... and that is the last thing you need... GRACE births a loving devotion and relationship to Christ with the focus all on HIM.

Place your thoughts on Christ's goodness... Learn who you are as a NEW CREATION ( who Christ says you are in HIM ).
I highly recommend a book called Victory over the Darkness by Neil T Anderson.... This book will get you grounded in your true identity as a Christian. If you have not yet cried out to Christ and accepted Him as your SAVIOUR... that is step ONE.

Bless you... and I hope you enjoy the forums.

Well that's what some of these posts seem to imply....to me anyway.
Good morning!
Lot's of posts imply that.

I think some of us just might be enjoying the appearance of sinlessness, or maybe aren't even aware of sins.

I'll never say I'm sinless!! That would only expose my lack of self awareness. But others around us can see what we do, so such claims don't matter anyway.

Much love!

I encourage you to listen to Pastor John MacArthur on YouTube. He gives many insightful sermons that helped me to better understand the bible and to learn the what and how of being saved.

Andrew Farley is an excellent Teacher Of God’s Word.....so is Les Feldick.....Check them out.....ask God to send you to His God- Sent Teachers.....The Bible can be a very dangerous Book.....make sure you listen to those that have been gifted by God and know how to “ Rightly Divide” His Word.....

If it all sounds overwhelming , just do this ( with Sincerity of course) —- do as the Sinful Publican did ( Tax- Collector) , just cry out, “ Lord ( Jesus) , have Mercy on me a Sinner”..... Jesus said that man “ went home Justified”..... that means that he went home Saved......

That prayer worked for an evil tax- Collector .....it worked for yours truly, and it will work for you....once again , it’s based on a Promise Of God ( “ whoever asks for Mercy shall receive it) .....Believing God's Promises is what Saves you—- not trying to “ do do this and don’t do that” ......Our God is much bigger than that.....He is looking for people that will Trust Him....You take care of that “ Trust Side” and He will take care if the “ behavior side” as His Indwelling Spirit changes “ the Inside Of your Cup”.......any man can “ Change” aka “ Turn over a New Leaf”....... that’s better than nothing, but only GOD can TRANSFORM , and thats what He wants to do ......only HE can do it ......and He WILL do it if you Trust Him.......

God does not save those that are “ Trying” to be Saved —- He will Save EVERYBODY that is “Trusting” to be Saved.......we don’t have to try to “ make ourselves Worthy”—— Believers are “MADE WORTHY” by the Blood Of The Lamb......Knowing That is the difference between Heaven and Hell.....God Bless...

@Lifelong_sinner, I have four unsaved adult children. I'm asking myself how I've been handling their situation in my mind and heart. I don't brow beat them (I did that with my wife to some extent). That's not the answer. I can't make them do what they are not equipped, yet, to do. I can't make them be born again. But I don't want them to live in sin, either. Honestly, I'm just letting their sin sickness take it's course, like you do with any sickness, and that God will protect them through it and eventually heal them. This is a God thing, not a man thing. I've been purposely avoiding the deep theological truths about this. I'm not sure that would be of any value to you(?)

Your children will be in my prayers......I’m sure this must be agony for you at times.....

By the way......” Gospel Believer” is Blood Bought ......I’m sure you figured that out by now.....the wife messed up something and I had to start using this old name.....I am too dumb to fix it....when I say that I am a “ computer dotard”, I mean it....lol...

Why do I say that it is not hard to be good? I think it applies to everyone. Granted I had a lot of advantages from the very beginning. I was very intelligent as a youth and the brawn to be confident and beat back the evil. But more than that I had the foundation of life set by Christ. When I was tooling around on my tricycle from that big play room...through the living room....though the kitchen and back to the play room....while I was still in diapers...I knew and believed in Christ....My foundation was set and that is why I say that the best gift you can give your children, is Christ.

Anytime I talk about my life it sound like bragging...the facts are facts. But there is a larger message I have for you. Some people come to Christ later in life....some are confused....some have inner conflicts....struggles....challenges....some come from broken lives and sinful lifestyles and even broken bodies and minds. Some feel that they are second rate Christians because they waited so long in life or were so sinful before they were saved. This is the wrong perspective.....wrong thinking....wrong understanding. The day these people are saved should be a celebration.....because there is a celebration in heaven....and there name is written. Just like the protocol son and the lost sheep that Christ spoke of.....the trumpets are sounded for them. Satan takes another arrow.

This understanding should give them courage and confidence to know that the saying Christ loves them....is so true. Do the right thing. I learned that very early in life.... People ask, how do you know what is right or if your doing the right thing? My answer, the Bible will tell you what is right....but that does not mean that what you do will turn out to be the right thing all the time....but that is what is so great about being an old Christian, because if you develop a habit...a character of doing the right thing....you will get better at it. Confidence in doing good and strength against evil.

It is won in that you are assured victory. Not in that you don't have to battle against sin.
tbh im about convinced that Christians spend waaay too much time on "sin" and not near enough on forgiveness...i say this bc i find no v like Forgive, and you will not need to be forgiven bc you will be perfect

not all of course, but imo most "battles against sin" are tempests in teacups, more or less; ppl trying to act a certain way bc they have just joined a certain culture, so now drinking or whatever is now "sin"

Well, drunkenness would certainly be a sin that one must battle against, if that's a battle they need to be engaged in. Personally, I hate most alcoholic drinks, and what excessive alcohol does to me, so that's not one of the battles I'm engaged in. I have other things that require me to suit up per Ephesians 6:10-18.

The battle against sin most Christians do not wage, and do not even know they should be waging, is the battle against things like hatred, and envy, and jealousy, and pride. I agree with you that perhaps Christians in general put the emphasis on outward things (i.e. service to God, church attendance) and live by rules that govern those outward things and which makes them think they are living a holy life and are pleasing to God. All the while neglecting obedience to God in the things of the heart.

A VERY Big thing that people neglect is to REST in the Gospel Of Grace.....One seldom hears about this, but this “ REST” is a Command Of God Found in Hebrews 3 and 4 and if you ignore this Command God will declare you guilty of “Disobedience and Unbelief” —- the Modern- Day Equivalent to the Unbelieving Jews that failed to enter the Land Promise...REST in Paul’s Gospel Of Grace Found In 1Cor15:1-4—- that means don't ADD to it with ANYTHING or you will “ Fall From Grace” ......that “Fall” May or not be speaking if Damnation.....reasonable, intelligent people disagree......why gamble?

I'm somewhat convinced Christians spend not near enough time on either.

I think that Christians expend too much energy worrying about “ their” Performance and not enough time doing the thing that Saves them—- Worshipping “ HIM” and HIS Performance..... The Gospel is ALL about what God did for Lost, Sinful Men —— NOT what Men did ( or do) for God.....
