Ohhh good question!
Scripture says to put on the Lord Jesus Christ
“But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.”
— Romans 13:14 (KJV)
Putting on the armor is encompassed in putting on Christ, I think.

Peter gives a step-by-step description, to your faith add virtue, to virtue knowledge, and so on.

Much love!

Revelation 1:6 "And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

We know who the Father is, who then is GOD?

Revelation 1:6 tells us
"JESUS IS GOD."

Obviously you don't know who the Father is, if you believe Jesus is God. The scripture at John 20:17 Jesus says that he has a Father and God who is his Apostles and disciples kings and priests to his Father and God. Revelation 1:6 is saying that Jesus has made his apostles and disciples to his Father and God. Jesus Father and God is YHWH and YHWH is Jesus Apostles and disciples Father and God.

Hi Barney, can we have a debate without demeaning, insulting, or being rude?
I care a great deal about scripture, I do study it with emphasis on gaining wisdom, knowledge and understanding of it. When something is perplexing to me I ask the Holy Spirit to open my eyes to see...and sometimes I even ask the forum for input.
I don't believe I have ever insulted you for what you believe.
So as to my response to your post I didn't exclude the part about Jesus being Abraham, Isaac or Jacob...which is my bad. But all other adjectives and titles is what I referred to.

I'm sorry that I offended you, it's not my intention to offend anyone. When I see in the inspired word of God that has had been written down for our behalf and such scriptures as at Revelation 1:5, 6 that says: "And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
These scriptures clearly show that Jesus isn't God, because these scriptures are showing us that Jesus has made his Apostles and disciples kings and priests to his God and Father. That's what I'm going to exercise faith in, is what's written down in these scriptures. People certainly have the right to disagree with me, but just because they disagree with me doesn't mean they have proven to me from the scriptures that what I'm exercising faith in is wrong. Too many people call me ignorant concerning the scriptures, simply because I don't agree with what they're saying is in the scriptures or what they say the scriptures are teaching us. To me, when a person/persons says at Revelation 1:8 that Jesus is the Alpha and Omega, then it seems to me that they're ignoring verses 5 and 6 of that same chapter that show Jesus isn't God.

The armor of God is the confidence of faith.
The confidence that God knows what we need and will see us through.
The confidence that we can go on to do what we need to do.
Salvation is secure....now turn to, and apply what we know to our life and share with others. Charge on with the Gospel….Christ is God.

There are plenty out there that want to talk confusion and muddy the water and distract the message. But straight is the arrow of truth.
We still need the armor for those ankle biters that would try to lead us astray and steal our confidence.

The walk with Christ can be the march that takes you to the new territory of your life. Even new adventures. Keep your eyes open and be ready to do His work.

Did our Lord wear the armour of God or is He the Armour of God - that is the real question my friend.

it is a good question. Consider Isaiah 11:1-5 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: [2] And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord ; [3] And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord : and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: [4] But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. [5] And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.

Mark 1:10-11 And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: [11] And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Love Romans 13:12-14 it fits well yea? The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. [13] Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. [14] But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

Peter gives a step-by-step description, to your faith add virtue, to virtue knowledge, and so on.
Matthew 6:33 But seek you first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Seek first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. What is added by the fruit of the Spirit of God if not: diligence, faith, virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, godliness, brotherly kindness, charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 1:5-8 the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: Galatians 5:22-23 …in all goodness and righteousness and truth Ephesians 5:9

@VictoryinJesus Reminds me also of Romans 14.17: "For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost."

With some of the input from you guys this has opened a whole new perspective about the armor....
Putting on Christ is putting on our armor....wow.

Well ya know, it was a good subject and I appreciate you starting the thread.
But it comes to no surprise that you would put a little heart in it. I commend your spirit.

That is where many fail, as I have in the past. When it is being tested this is when it seems that God is nowhere around...that your prayers are in vain....and there is no light at the end of the tunnel.
This is when we have to stand and fight the good fight if faith....

Not only that your prayers seem in vain but that you can't even manage to pray other than a few words here or there, and sometimes not even that but only sighs. And you find it hard to believe when others tell you that's a very good and blessed place to be. It doesn't FEEL like He is giving you bread.

It doesn't FEEL like He is giving you bread.
That reminded me of when certain people were looking for Jesus after he had fed them the loaves and fishes. They didn't see him get in the boat with his disciples and yet found him on the other side of the lake.
He told them, the only reason your looking for me is because I fed you and you were filled. They didn't seek him because they wanted to know Him.
Something like that..
Sometimes we are looking to receive something in times of need. But what are we giving back in those times when we are full?

Jhn 6:22 The day following, when the people which stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was none other boat there, save that one whereinto his disciples were entered, and that Jesus went not with his disciples into the boat, but that his disciples were gone away alone;
Jhn 6:23 (Howbeit there came other boats from Tiberias nigh unto the place where they did eat bread, after that the Lord had given thanks
Jhn 6:24 When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus.
Jhn 6:25 And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither?
Jhn 6:26 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.
Jhn 6:27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

This goes along with the saying..
Seek ye First the kingdom of God and his righteousness, THEN shall these things be added unto thee.
They was looking for the add ons. First things First.

So, the crops are in the barn, no shortage of food, planty money in the bank account, all is good in the world.
We may forget sometimes to be thankful for what we have. We get busy working and playing, and occasionally give a shout out.
Thank You Lord.
Then tragedy hits, the cupboard runs dry, you lost your job and your hungry..
And we think our prayers are going unheard.

Perhaps the Lord spends as much time answering prayer as the time in between our giving thanks in times of plenty?

I'm talking "our" as in general.. there are many people who give thanks everyday regardless what their circumstances are.
But if you only come to the Lord in times of need, then all the other times when you could have been spending with him in praise and joy,
is equal to the amount of time for prayers to be answered.

Love is a two way street.

I'm just thinking..
