As believers today we live by faith and that faith in Jesus should produce love in a believers life. But faith alone is the only thing that pleases God. Not a list of doing this and doing that; let God work with you in your heart and mind, even look and go feed off the words of Jesus and what He says and commands which is to Love God and love others.
Very well said!

Much love!

When our Lord was in His earthly body He learned the obedience of trust and obedience to Gods will through the things He suffered.
At least that’s how I interpret the verse.
Myself, I understand it not to be saying Jesus learned how to obey, I'm certain He already knew that, as He had obeyed all His life. To me this is saying that He learned the experience of a man who obeys God though he suffer as a cause of that obedience. What it means to do God's will even though everything inside is screaming in pain.

Resisting unto blood.

Much love!

I had a time recently when I was in a lot of intense pain. I said, I accept this from your hands Lord. But it really, really hurts. The same sort of thing happened to me then. The pain was still there but…it didn’t hurt as bad somehow.

I've had those times, particularly about 3 or 4 years ago, I went through a stretch were I had was in some pretty bad nerve pain and muscle spasms, what's that word, "intractable"? Nothing to do?

I didn't experience any reduction in pain, it just went on. But in choosing to trust that Jesus is true, and this was for my good, it's hard to talk about because I don't really have the words, but something happened, and my trust then just blossomed, and the worst days were the best days, and I'm not afraid of whatever may be coming, because I know, the worse circumstances are, the more we will know God.

Maybe to say I'm learning the obedience of faith through things I suffer?

Much love!

I think when He was human, He had to rely completely on God. He had to trust God completely, because He was in the same human form as us. He didn’t do miracles as a human man. He did miracles by Gods Spirit. As a man, He was subjected to the things we are subjected to, pain, weariness, sadness, etc. He never sinned, but He was subjected to the same things as we are.

He had a human will. He asked for the cup to be taken from Him. He had a human will, but one subjected to Gods will.

it’s so much to think about…

At least that’s how I interpret the verse.

There was a day in particular toward the beginning of the nerve pain. I'd already been to the emergency room the week before, with not much they could do, morphine didn't even help, only bill me about a $1000, and give me handfuls of pills. After a few days it dulled out a little, but now, full force, 1 am, I'm begging God to make it stop! 2 am, I'm reminding myself, nothing the hospital can do for me, 3 am, I'm asking myself, can this really be for my good????

And I chose to accept God at His word, and accepted that somewhere in here is a gift proportionate to the pain. And I didn't feel less pain, but I started feeling grateful. The greatful half-dead, and 5 am, I discovered that laying in very hot water (the pinched nerve is in my neck) releaved the pain 99%.

Later the next day, laying there in the tub, I realized . . . what I realize is how slow I can be! I'd been rehearsing for our Easter play. My part was to portray Jesus praying in the garden. Let this cup pass from me!! It didn't. Not for Him, and not for me. Not that they were the same!

I found I had to look my pain in the face, and decide what I believed to be true. And I realized that maybe Jesus too, a man hanging on a cross in excruciating pain, of which I'm sure mine was just a taste, well, if I had a button to push to stop my pain, I wouldn't have to think about it! Stop now!

I think Jesus faced the same test . . . He endured the cross, despising the shame, for the joy set before Him. Jesus Christ crucified, and He could have stopped it. But He didn't, and why? Because He loves me. Because He wants me. And because He wants me to know how much He loves me. By what He endured to be able to have me.

And letting me have that pain, what an incredible window into my Savior's love for me!

Much love!

What do you mean?
God avenges whom He loves. I think of God as being, how to say, a unified whole. Not that "He is love, but he is also just." Rather, in His love, He is also just.

Isaiah 59:17 KJV
For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloke.

God is love, and he puts on vengeance as a garment.

Much love!

Yes it is, especially that we are called to the same.

wow marks…

But…I think He gave you the relief with the discovery that hot water took it away when it got too bad. He just didn’t give the relief the moment you asked. He waited until you learned what He wanted to show you.

Yes. I think He allowed it to serve its purpose, or at least that part. It's a lot longer story, but not a different story.

He had to get through that night and day being a man, with the resources of a man, just like me. When in my mind I go back to that moment, that night, I feel so close to Him. The fellowship of suffering is how I think of it.

Much love!

Thank you all for sharing each of your experiences they were nice to read. Have little pain here mainly my knees and back. It’s alright though. Am thankful for Jesus Christ who did not just die for me, but what God was able to do for the whole entirety of the world in allowing God to be pleased by the sin sacrifice that Jesus Christ done on behalf of all the people in the world which reconciled all back to God in which allows him to no longer be angry at the world. God is calling all to His son; who is worthy of being praised and honored. Who didn’t just die at the cross but was risen again by God which we raise to with him and walk in new spiritual life.

Jesus said :

‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:17-19‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

This one is not what Jesus had said but what Jesus has done for all.

“But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.””
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭1:20-21‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Corresponding scriptures:

“Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers of the people and elders of Israel: If we this day are judged for a good deed done to a helpless man, by what means he has been made well, let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole. This is the ‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’ Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.””
‭‭Acts‬ ‭4:8-12‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: “We ought to obey God rather than men. The God of our fathers raised up Jesus whom you murdered by hanging on a tree. Him God has exalted to His right hand to be Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins. And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him.””
‭‭Acts‬ ‭5:29-32‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“And afterward they asked for a king; so God gave them Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years. And when He had removed him, He raised up for them David as king, to whom also He gave testimony and said, ‘I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will.’ From this man’s seed, according to the promise, God raised up for Israel a Savior—Jesus— after John had first preached, before His coming, the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭13:21-24‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

““For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell asleep, was buried with his fathers, and saw corruption; but He whom God raised up saw no corruption. Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins; and by Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭13:36-39‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

I wish someone would tell me how to deal with my narcissistic neighbour. He regularly assaults me and throws rubbish in my garden. The police do nothing and there is never anyone around to witness it. My GP has seen the bruises and so has the hospital. Turning the other cheek makes him think I am weak, so he does it all the more, but it takes strength to control yourself, which is what I do, but to no avail. His wife used to come into my house crying her eyes out. Both were black and blue. Eventually she left home and he married his girlfriend. She does everything he wants, and they seem happy together.

I'm just sitting it out as he is 82 years of age, but as an ex boxer he still packs a punch, and he is fitter than I am at 77 years of age.

Any suggestions are welcome. In case you are wondering, I have never ever harmed him in any way at all, rather the opposite.
webcams are pretty cheap now…

“These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.

This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.

And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.

If anyone sees his brother committing a sin not leading to death, he shall ask and God will for him give life to those who commit sin not leading to death.

There is a sin leading to death; I do not say that he should make request for this. All unrighteousness is sin, and there is a sin not leading to death.

We know that no one who is born of God sins; but He who was born of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him.

We know that we are of God, and that the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.

And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ.

This is the true God and eternal life. Little children, guard yourselves from idols.”
