The brain can be trained, and people changed. We're watching a culture being removed from the values of it's parents to be given the desired values by the oligarchy through indoctination in schools. And being trained to respond to different kinds of stimuli.

Much love!
When it comes to sexual sin, I believe confession is something that usually needs to be done privately. Keeping in mind the market confessions of the new testament. There are multiple factors to be taken into consideration. Wisdom is key.

This is a category am well familiar with. It started around that age of 15 or 16ish. When a friend had gave me a collection of magazines. A life long period of chasing this type of thing was instated in my brain set.
Exposure to porn, and other forms of sexual abuse change the development of the brain. It's a very potent evil in corrupting our flesh, but God gives victory as I know you know!

I went 5 weeks without any lustful thoughts or actions, <...> Then one day, it called, i fought, and failed.
Interestingly, I had this exact same experience. But it didn't mean that there would only be failure afterward. Because I've still had victory.

Those who are so certain, perhaps shouldn't be, in either regard. I suggest not being so sure you can never be free, and for others, that you could never succomb. Jesus is sufficient for all need, and you who stand, take heed!

Wisdom, and leading of the Spririt. The same thing, I think!

For me its a matter what what I think will do a specific good. I don't share my history or about myself unless I feel specifically led by the Spirit to do so. And then I'm transparent about whatever seems to be the leading of the Lord.

Much love!

I think the person who dismisses this as something easily dealt with doesn't understand it.

There are factors inside people that the may not even relate consciously to porn that are driving them to ingest.

Much love!
There's a seemingly obscure scripture verse that describes exactly what you're talking about. Without Divine illumination, I don't think I ever would've seen it. I'll have a look through my binder. Perhaps I'll find it.

It's very possible for genuine believers and even Pastors to struggle with lust and pornography.

No one is condoning the sin. The purpose of this thread is to give people practical strategies for avoiding this sin. Saying it should be a non-issue is true in an ideal sense, but does nothing for those in bondage desiring to get out.
When I was part of a divorce ministry team for Christian women, it was often an addiction to porn that lay at the root of the husbands Infidelity and other issues. Many were wives of pastors and leaders. What was interesting was that many of the women were ousted out of the church because they were divorcing, but the men were never held to account and kept their positions within the churches. ………..
I always found this a difficult thing to understand, given the biblical requirements of leadership. I do wonder if ‘ hiding behind the addiction ‘ is not part of the problem…..it’s forgotten that The Lord sees everything, but some how within the mind we think it is only visible when someone else sees it !
Anyone that claims that addiction, in this case, sexual addiction, is a non issue doesn’t really understand the battle with addiction………. Just class it as garbage and that will solve the problem, yes right so simple.

This is a very painful and sensitive topic for a lot of people.

That'd being said, I appreciate the earnest discussion of those who are willing to discuss these uncomfortable things in the light.

I would also find that double standard of treatment the divorced women difficult too. Accoubtability should be enforced for the leaders and Pastors as well.

As for the idea of hiding behind the addiction, I think two things can be true at once. I think something can be truly addictive, and also that something could be a thing where wisdom demands that those with that addiction step down.

Scripture demands not even a hint of sexual immorality should be among us. So Leaders and Pastors should not be exempt. They should be leaving the titles behind and seeking accountability or being held accountable.

im trying to reconcile what you said with 1 john. Even moreso, 2 corinthians 5:17. I just dont believe we can call ourselves saved if we do the same sins after “getting saved” that we did before we were saved. I get that the struggle will exist, but as far as actually committing them, i dont see how.

.it’s forgotten that The Lord sees everything, but some how within the mind we think it is only visible when someone else sees it !
Yes, I think that's common. It was a real gamechanger in my mind when I began to remember that God is here now, His eyes are on me, and He sees all the way through me.

I have to accept that I am who and what I am, no hiding, no disguises! The only lies about me that are being believed are the ones I'm telling myself. I'd be both stupid and foolish to think there's anything God doesn't know about me. He knows everything last thing I think and do, why I do it, how hard I'm trying, how much I've just despaired over controlling myself, and how much of that is just an excuse.

When we're talking about the sexual immorality in pornography, I find this passage particularly striking,

Hebrews 4:12-16 KJV
12) For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
13) Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
14) Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
15) For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
16) Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

The Bible is going to teach me how to know myself, and I'm not hiding anything from God. I may be lusting over someone's nakedness, but I'm much more naked to Him, and that's not how He's looking at me.

Thank God for our High Priest! And thank God for His compassion!

Much love!

No. I'm feeling quite ill at the moment, but, Lord willing, I'll get to it.
Father, thank you for Truman, and for Your working in him, and I pray you will complete that work, and steady him today to endure such things as You deem fit, and to know the joy of the hope of Your glory!

What can you lose by trying again? What if you're wrong?

When pornography becomes an issue, it can be really frustrating.

The temptation chases you like a wolf on the hunt. If it smells weakness, it hounds you further.

The Bible says it is the will of God, even our sanctification, that we abstain from sexual immorality. (1 Thessalonians 4:3).

Use as many strategies as you can. When fighting something like this, it's best to use a multi-layered combinations in your approach. You have to have a war-like mindset.

1. Be honest with someone about the problem.

Confession brings healing and having it out in the open decreases the power of the temptation, which thrives in secrecy. The person could be your spouse or a really good friend. You just don't want to try to deal with it by yourself.

2. Classical music.

There's something about classical music that switches off the part of your brain that wants to look at porn. If you don't believe me, give it a try.

3. Stay busy till bedtime.

Now, you can do relaxing activities but try to avoid just doing nothing, especially during the hours you normally get tempted.
It's time to blast your music and get some chores done, reorganize your pantry, knit, journal, call a friend, read your Bible, etc.

4. The Sword of the Spirit

Memorize a short key verse and say it out loud: "Thy Word have I hid in mine heart that I might not sin against thee." (Psalm 119:11). The devil wants you to give in to your lust and to fall but this strategy has proven effective in redirecting my thoughts to what God would have me do. Repeat as many times as you need or go do something else.

5. Cut off your right hand.

Just kidding. But seriously, Jesus said if your right hand causes you to sin, to cut it out. Practically, this could look like taking more drastic measures to avoid pornography than you originally thought.

Do you have to have a smartphone by you while going to sleep?

Can you get your online stuff done in a public area where others can see you?

Do you need to go to the library instead of being by yourself?

Do you need special software on your phone that sends your history to an accountability partner?

6. Try to avoid feeding the flesh in general.

Certain types of music, tv, movies, novels, and stories are lustful in nature and lead down a spiral of consuming increasingly lustful media.

Steamy romance novels can lead to erotica, especially for women. Lustful music feeds the same part of you that desires to consume porn.

Not feeding the flesh won't gaurantee you won't be tempted at all. But feeding the flesh will increase the frequency and intensity of temptation. Again, you may need multiple strategies to kick the addiction completely.

7. Get an adequate amount of sleep and relaxation time.

Sleep deprivation and stress are triggers for temptation. Sometimes these things cannot be avoided but its good to remember for the purpose of breaking the habit of consuming porn.

8. Believe that you can overcome this. Desire to be whole.

No matter how many times you've failed before, realize that through Christ all things are possible. His Spirit lives in you and desires to obey the Lord. Walk by the Spirit and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.

What do you really want? Be honest with yourself. Do you really want to stay porn-free for life? Or do you want to just keep porn as an option for when things get rough?

It's really all or nothing when it comes to this. You must get to the place where iys never acceptable at any time in order to see victory. You must want to please God and stay in close relationship with Him above all else.

The shame of sin causes us to push God away. That's why sin is so bad.

On the other side of disciplining yourself is fulness of joy and a fulfilling life pursuing the Lord. Don't let porn hinder you from all that God has for you.
Hi Wynona,

Thank you for starting this thread, I wrote something regarding Pornography in another thread, I forget which one.

Here it is, It's from The Terrible Sins Of Sodom thread:
"People haven't learned or taken heed to the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, look at all the filth being displayed nowadays, with the pornography that is easily accessible online, from rape porn, to extreme porn barely legal porn, bestiality you name it, our youth have such easy access to it now more than ever, back in the day Porn was illegal, to see it you had to get it it illegally or buy Playboy if you wanted to see a naked woman, now it's everywhere, even when you go to the mall you have Victoria's Secret stores with scantly clad women fringing on the border of soft core pornography, our young kids see this.

We have not learned from Sodom and Gomorrah, we've gotten worse than ever before, I read a story on yahoo news where Pornhub I think the name is, one of the largest Porn sites on the internet just got law suited because they weren't screening the porn actresses and they were displaying porn movies with underage girls and allowing underage girls to perform on their site.

Why do our governments allow this kind of filth to be legal and not ban it and go after these people like they use to back in the old days and arrest them?

I fear for our youth, please screen your kids computer if you have kids, don't let them access this filth, I hear porn is very addictive and has an effect on a person's brain where they don't function normally if they can't get their porn fix, this is serious stuff.

We haven't learned our lesson from Sodom and Gomorrah, instead we offend God with one of the greatest abominations, pornography and sex without being married.

It's a disgrace in today's society, you can't drive down the highway without seeing billboards advertising all nude strip clubs, sex expos you name it.

I wish the wrath of God would wipe all of this filth out just as he did in Sodom and Gomorrah."

After 20 years of walking out Luke 9:23 (my personal daily sacrifice), on July 30, 2020, I died to this. The next day, He led me here to Christianity Board.
After 52 years of bondage...I'm free! During September, 2020, Jesus resurrected, with me, in my heart!
He then gave me a third given name, "Victory!"

I died, He lives, and dwells inside of me
I am finally assured of eternity
He never left my side, not even when I died
He was with me in the dark...right by my side! tc

"Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you!" Hallelujah!
I'm glad you made it out of that abomination Truman, Pornography is everywhere, I feel for our youth who have easy access now due to the internet.

Powerful topic, but shame prevents us from really discussing this issue. As i have mentioned before, i am a false convert because of porn and other sexual sin. But i also believe i could very well be beyond saving now as Hebrews warns. Long story short, about 2 yrs ago, i seriously repented for all my sins, especially the sexual ones. I went 5 weeks without any lustful thoughts or actions, the 2nd longest ever for me. Then one day, it called, i fought, and failed. But the worst part was, when i looked at porn again, i felt disgusted at it for like half a second, and then that feeling left me. Now, its like i was before i repented, it doesnt bother me in the least.

And i often tell people, take my failure to heart. I know im not saved, i know my repentance wasnt genuine, and that im going to hell. Dont follow what i did. And this is how i know im not of the elect, and that i was never saved, and my repentance wasnt genuine. And i dont think i could repent now no matter what i do.
It's never too late brother, don't give up, just keep at it and ask for the Lord's blood to wash away your lustful sins and cleanse your soul, Jesus doesn't give up on us.

I once read a poll conducted by a Christian website that indicated a surprising number of Christians are addicted to pornography. The poll results indicated that 50% of all Christian men and 20% of all Christian women are addicted to pornography. The people who struggle with the repeated pursuit of sexual gratification include church members, deacons, staff, and even clergy. No one is exempt! The struggle is real!

Now how many Christians (especially) men can honestly say, "whenever I am tempted to lust, I NEVER give in." I have 100% conquered that sin 100% of the time, no problem? If David, who was “a man after God’s own heart,” and other men and women of faith yielded to sexual temptation, it could happen to any of us. Researchers are finding that when people indulge in porn, a powerful chemical in their brain and body is released and there are a growing number of therapists and psychologists who are saying that this is as addictive as alcohol or cocaine or even heroin!

The researchers explained that when people view porn, "It causes the brain to release what we call endogenous drugs or endogenous chemicals. 'Endogenous' meaning 'produced from within.' So where alcohol and cocaine seek to mimic the brain's natural chemicals, pornography releases the real deal!

Due to our flesh, we will have to deal with the temptation to lust until we die, but that doesn't mean we have to continuously give into the temptation until we die. The temptation to lust comes in many forms including ungodly sexual appetites; and there are lusts, such as the lust of power, fame or position etc.. We must rely on the power of the Holy Spirit to overcome lust every day. No matter the form of lust we are tempted by, we need to remember that we have a High Priest and Advocate with the Father who understands our every weakness and was tempted in every way as we are, yet was without sin. (Hebrews 4:15; 1 John 2:1)

1 Corinthians 6:18 says to flee sexual immorality! Believers need to pour out their heart to Jesus and find power through Him to give up sexual addiction. We cannot simply suppress this sin in our own strength and give it up solely in our own power. Apart from Jesus we can do nothing.
