According to Jesus he applied it to the "Israel" that he was condemning in Matthew 23.

I thought we already established that through the phrase, "Behold, your house is left unto you desolate." The question was what were His intentions in quoting a Psalm about hope for the house of Aaron and earthly Israel.
You really have a problem with JW's don't you?

No. I have a problem with the heresy they teach. There is no single Christian denomination (if they are one) that teaches more false doctrine, IMO. But I have no problem with JWs personally. I consider you to be a fairly pleasant conversationalist, under the circumstances especially : )
Now are you going to tell me that you know more than God's word teaches us...

No, LoL. I am telling you that the flat rejection of early church tradition on principle, particularly when you are replacing it with nothing, is a spiritually irresponsible practice. It assumes that the early church did not have the Spirit of God revealing to them all things as Jesus promised they would. And again, to claim that you (and/or your denomination) knows more than they did when you offer nothing in place of it, instead only remarking that such matters are "hidden mysteries," just strikes me as religious hypocrisy, and a fraudulent attempt to feign religious authority when you/they don't have any.
What ugly head are you raising?

I'm not getting ugly, am I? LoL.

Just a friendly debate, sister. Relax. You tit, I tat. :p

Seriously mate if we don't know any better now that we did over 100 years ago, we should all go out and shoot ourselves.

Don't do that, Lol. Like I said, I think certain behaviors and habits tend to perpetuate themselves within certain groups. But I do see a trend in still telling people "The end is near! The harvest is coming! Oh what a bumper crop it will be!!" in the here and now. If you truly believe that, you are still not that far removed in either practice or beliefs from what your religion subscribed to over a hundred years ago.
Daniel had prophesied that a "cleansing, whitening and refining" had to take place among God's people, and each of these is a process....it took time to examine scripture and to ascertain the deeper applications.

As I said, I think it took all that time to smooth over some of the more egregious mistakes made by your denomination. But trust me, I wouldn't normally bring up such matters. It's just that it comes up in some of your dialogue, and it strikes me as being... well, cultish. Telling people the end is near works well at keeping people bound to the leadership. Just saying, that's how it strikes me; not so much anything you are doing intentionally, so much as what I think the organization encourages, and always has.
What about your own brotherhood HiH? Who are they and what are their beliefs so that we can give them the same scrutiny?

I realize you would rather not be on the defensive, but I will have to disappoint you there. I don't hold to any denominational allegiances any more. That said, I do admire your willingness to stand front and center on what you believe and not back down from a fight on it. Unfortunately we just strongly disagree.

Gonna have to wrap this one up, but I do appreciate the friendly candor, and your patience with my doing likewise. Maybe we'll have another good talk again sometime.

God bless,
