Welcome to my music appreciation thread.

You're more than welcome to participate. I invite you to share your favorite song(s). Feel free to share why the songs you chose are important to you. There is no limit to how many songs you can share. I would like to take this time to emphasize that my thread is meant to be welcoming and lighthearted. It is not a soapbox to fuss at other members about their taste in music or argue against Christians listening to secular music.

The purpose of my thread is to enjoy music, not debate it. Please respect that. With that being said, let's get on with it. I love to listen to music, and I can't imagine my life without it. To quote Albert Einstein, “If I were not a physicist, I would probably be a musician. I often think in music. I live my daydreams in music. I see my life in terms of music.” Again, everyone is welcome to share their favorite songs. I hope you enjoy the thread.

And to show my appreciation of the Fab Four, I'd like to start with sharing my two favorite songs by them. The songs are Nowhere Man and Let It Be. Both of these songs touch my heart more than any other song by The Beatles. I'm including the lyrics, as well as a video of them singing live.

Nowhere Man

Rubber Soul Album (1965)
written by Paul McCartney and John Lennon

He's a real nowhere man
Sitting in his nowhere land
Making all his nowhere plans for nobody

Doesn't have a point of view
Knows not where he's going to
Isn't he a bit like you and me?

Nowhere Man, please listen
You don't know what you're missing
Nowhere Man, the world is at your command

He's as blind as he can be
Just sees what he wants to see
Nowhere Man can you see me at all?

Nowhere Man, don't worry
Take your time, don't hurry
Leave it all till somebody else lends you a hand

Doesn't have a point of view
Knows not where he's going to
Isn't he a bit like you and me?

Nowhere Man, please listen
You don't know what you're missing
Nowhere Man, the world is at your command

He's a real Nowhere Man
Sitting in his nowhere land
Making all his nowhere plans for nobody
Making all his nowhere plans for nobody
Making all his nowhere plans for nobody

Let It Be

Let It Be (1970)
written by Paul McCartney and John Lennon

When I find myself in times of trouble
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom
Let it be

And in my hour of darkness
She is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom
Let it be

Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom
Let it be

And when the brokenhearted people
Living in the world agree
There will be an answer
Let it be

For though they may be parted there is
Still a chance that they will see
There will be an answer
Let it be

Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be
Yeah, there will be an answer
Let it be

Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom
Let it be

Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom
Let it be

And when the night is cloudy
There is still a light that shines on me
Shine until tomorrow
Let it be

I wake up to the sound of music
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom
Let it be

Let it be, let it be, let it be, yeah, let it be
There will be an answer
Let it be

Let it be, let it be, let it be, yeah, let it be
There will be an answer
Let it be

Let it be, let it be, let it be, yeah, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom
Let it be

I used to have all the Beatles albums under various labels, all 23 albums of them, I think... when they were together before they went to splitsville. I gave them to our youngest adult son. I have over half of the best tunes digitized today. They were unique talents, all four in their own right. Unique and yet harmonizing voices with the exception of Ringo, who really could not sing that well. They brought a new enchanting and mesmerizing 'back-beat' to early rock music, riding on the waves of personalities such as Chuck Berry.

Ringo is my favorite, and has always been. My husband is taking me to see Ringo in concert for my birthday next summer. I haven't seen him or Paul in concert yet, because of my dislike of crowds and loud noises. Ringo is 81, and Paul is 79. I know I'll regret it if I don't see one of them in concert. I would rather see Ringo perform than Paul, to be honest. My husband was going to take me to see Ringo a few years ago, but I backed out.

The first Beatles' song I ever heard was We Can Work It Out. It was played during a music montage of the Monkees on the local Oldies station. And
speaking of the Monkees, they were hired to be the American version of the Beatles in a TV show. The Beatles later threw a private party for them in '67, and Paul invited Micky to sit in at the Sgt. Pepper's recording session. Micky wrote a song about partying with the Beatles called Randy Scouse Git: "The four kings of E.M.I. are sitting stately on the floor..." Here's an article about them: Interesting Facts About the Beatles and the Monkees.

let us put the focus on Christ and godly music . I already lived that old life , never want it again .
Let us turn this place into christain songs and much thanksgiving unto the LORD .
The old man died , and i dont want him back . Let us honor Christ and abstain from all appearance of evil .

Off-topic.

Perhaps you didn't read the original post. My thread isn't a soapbox to lecture other Christians about listening to secular music.|

Repeating what I wrote in my original post... It is not a soapbox to fuss at other members about their taste in music or argue against Christians listening to secular music. The purpose of my thread is to enjoy music, not debate it. Please respect that.
I just came to point folks to the better way .

Very talented band. I always liked them, not so much the subject matter. Imagine no heaven above and no hell beneath. No thanks.

I used to listen to a lot of stuff when I was younger which would not be appropriate for this forum but I think Enigma and Enya would be good, as well as some monk chants which I find very interesting.

Do you know the reasons why John Lennon and Yoko Ono wrote Imagine? Imagine is one of the most misunderstood songs because some people take these particular lyrics, "Imagine there’s no heaven, it’s easy if you try, no hell below us, above us only sky" as an attack against Christians and religion itself. In reality, John Lennon was trying to convey that we should be on guard against things that divide and separate people. The truth is, when a religion causes people to hate each other or fight each other, then that religion becomes toxic to the human race. The same thing can be said about politics, bigotry, racism, the love of money, conquest for land, and the bloodthirsty pursuit for power. These are the things that cause a lot of conflict and division among people, and often times these things cause a war. These are the things that cause people to hate each other. In the end, John Lennon envisioned a world in which more things bring people together than separate them. The message I get from Imagine isn't anti-Christian. On the contrary, the message I get is that we may not live in such a world now, but by picturing it, we might begin to bring it into existence.

@Sgt. Pepper ...Paul lost his gusto and drive when his first wife Diane he loved so dearly passed away. During the Wings era....he was never the same man afterwards...his heart was deeply broken. I believe he trusted God to get him through those lonely and depressing times. I wonder who he is today? I pray he found Christ through it all....

I forgot to answer your other question. Paul has been married to a woman named Nancy Shevell for 10 years. He met her thru Barbara Walters. He was married to Heather Mills. They married in 2002, had a daughter in 2003, separated in 2006, and they were officially divorced in 2008.
