Welcome to my music appreciation thread.
You're more than welcome to participate. I invite you to share your favorite song(s). Feel free to share why the songs you chose are important to you. There is no limit to how many songs you can share. I would like to take this time to emphasize that my thread is meant to be welcoming and lighthearted. It is not a soapbox to fuss at other members about their taste in music or argue against Christians listening to secular music.
The purpose of my thread is to enjoy music, not debate it. Please respect that. With that being said, let's get on with it. I love to listen to music, and I can't imagine my life without it. To quote Albert Einstein, “If I were not a physicist, I would probably be a musician. I often think in music. I live my daydreams in music. I see my life in terms of music.” Again, everyone is welcome to share their favorite songs. I hope you enjoy the thread.
And to show my appreciation of the Fab Four, I'd like to start with sharing my two favorite songs by them. The songs are Nowhere Man and Let It Be. Both of these songs touch my heart more than any other song by The Beatles. I'm including the lyrics, as well as a video of them singing live.
Nowhere Man
Rubber Soul Album (1965)
written by Paul McCartney and John Lennon
He's a real nowhere man
Sitting in his nowhere land
Making all his nowhere plans for nobody
Doesn't have a point of view
Knows not where he's going to
Isn't he a bit like you and me?
Nowhere Man, please listen
You don't know what you're missing
Nowhere Man, the world is at your command
He's as blind as he can be
Just sees what he wants to see
Nowhere Man can you see me at all?
Nowhere Man, don't worry
Take your time, don't hurry
Leave it all till somebody else lends you a hand
Doesn't have a point of view
Knows not where he's going to
Isn't he a bit like you and me?
Nowhere Man, please listen
You don't know what you're missing
Nowhere Man, the world is at your command
He's a real Nowhere Man
Sitting in his nowhere land
Making all his nowhere plans for nobody
Making all his nowhere plans for nobody
Making all his nowhere plans for nobody
Let It Be
Let It Be (1970)
written by Paul McCartney and John Lennon
When I find myself in times of trouble
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom
Let it be
And in my hour of darkness
She is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom
Let it be
Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom
Let it be
And when the brokenhearted people
Living in the world agree
There will be an answer
Let it be
For though they may be parted there is
Still a chance that they will see
There will be an answer
Let it be
Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be
Yeah, there will be an answer
Let it be
Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom
Let it be
Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom
Let it be
And when the night is cloudy
There is still a light that shines on me
Shine until tomorrow
Let it be
I wake up to the sound of music
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom
Let it be
Let it be, let it be, let it be, yeah, let it be
There will be an answer
Let it be
Let it be, let it be, let it be, yeah, let it be
There will be an answer
Let it be
Let it be, let it be, let it be, yeah, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom
Let it be
