As the Holy Spirit has been stirring up in me the time for Revival is HERE!
The time for Restoration is HERE!
The time for Renewal is HERE!
REVIVAL, RESTORATION, RENEWAL....
Throughout the world God's servants are hearing the call to Wake Up....the Great Awakening has begun!!!!!!
Our Father says...I have heard the cries of my people...I have seen the battle scars of my people....I have felt the anguish and the fear rising up in my people....
Lift up your eyes, lift up your hands, lift up your voice for I am here...pouring out my Spirit upon my people...receive the anointing and stir up the gifts within you and reap my harvest!

Why Elijah?
Luke 1 (KJV)
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
¹² And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him.
¹³ But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.
¹⁴ And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.
¹⁵ For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb.
¹⁶ And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God.
¹⁷ And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.
¹⁸ And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years.
¹⁹ And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings.

What is meant by the spirit of Elijah in Luke 1:17?

Luke 1:17

ESV - 17 And he will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready for the Lord a people prepared.

The verse cited in the question was spoken by the angel Gabriel at the time that he informed the Jewish priest Zacharias that Zacharias and his wife Elizabeth would have a son, who was to be named John (later known as John the Baptist). By indicating that John the Baptist would go before the Lord in the spirit and power of Elijah, Gabriel was referring to both the actions of the prophet Elijah (as recounted in 1 Kings 17 to 2 Kings 2 in the Old Testament), and the words of the prophet Malachi (Malachi 3:1 and Malachi 4:5-6), with respect to events that would precede the appearance of the Messiah whom God had promised to send ever since the time that humanity first fell into sin (Genesis 3:15). Elijah was a prophet sent by God to the Northern Kingdom of Israel at a time when Israel had largely forsaken God and turned to the worship of idols, under the influence of Israel's king at that time, Ahab (whom the Bible records (1 Kings 16:30) as committing more evil than any of the kings of Israel before him), in concert with his pagan wife Jezebel. Idol worship during his reign was so prevalent that there were only 7,000 people in the entire kingdom of Israel who had not bowed down in worship to Ba'al (the false god whom Jezebel served)(1 Kings 19:18). Elijah's prophetic mission was to bring Israel back to the worship of God. He repeatedly exhorted the people to repent of their sin and return to God, and warned them of the judgment from God that awaited them if they did not. He served God so devotedly in this mission that he was taken up from earth by God without having to experience death (2 Kings 2:11). He also later represented all the prophets whom God had sent to Israel when he appeared (along with Moses, who represented the Law that God had given to Israel after the exodus from Egypt, which Moses had led) at the Transfiguration, talking with Jesus (Matthew 17:1-9; Mark 9:2-8; and Luke 9:28-36). It was this same zeal for the Lord that John the Baptist would display hundreds of years later in condemning sin, urging the people of Judea to confess and repent of their sins in preparation for the imminent appearance of the Messiah (Jesus), and baptizing them in the Jordan River as a sign of their repentance, as noted in passages such as Matthew 3:1-12; Mark 1:1-8; Luke 3:1-18; and John 1:19-36. Jesus Himself later indicated (Matthew 17:10-13 and Mark 9:11-13) that John the Baptist, by his actions, had fulfilled the prophecy by Malachi th Elijah would return.

Can that same Spirit of Elijah be upon us...it can and will be...except it's the Spirit of God Himself...the Holy Spirit! Empowering us, equipping us, training us, and sending us forth!

Oh I love this song....it makes me want to dance...in fact I do....can't help it.
I always did dance when it was played so many years ago. [Both my legs and my lungs fail me these days to put my all into it.]

I wish I could easily find some of those very early renditions. Probably on the Internet, but I cannot remember the names of the singers/dancers to search. Several more recent recordings easily accessible.

Praise His holy precious name!

Let the Lord's truth be spoken and heard, and let the popular denominational fabrications and imaginings fall away.

Okay y'all. I haven't read anything yet, I just got home. Long day. But wanted to share this here. A sister at church and one from another site confirmed my thoughts on this dream a couple weeks ago. I asked sister I'd I could share what she wrote concerning it.

Dream: I was upstairs in this school building with another woman, when suddenly the lights went out. It was pitch darkness and I realized it wasn't just in the room, but the sun had went out too. It was just black and I wasn't sure how to move much the less get downstairs in this darkness. "Armageddon" came to mind, and I was thinking that I should have been raptured, because I am a Christian.

Then it flashed and me and the woman were walking outside. It looked like morning, and there were a lot of people outside. There was this very large group of women in the middle of the grassy field. A woman with dark, curly hair was speaking on a raised platform that we were together to love and support each other in these times. I came over to the group, and this group of three cars I sensed had men in them started doing donuts around us. They were going super fast and I was afraid they would crash into us, but realize they were there to protect us. They were slowing down a little in the end when I woke up.

----
I agree with this wholeheartedly:

Times of tribulations will be worse towards the end of days for us, but we are not to fear what will happen to us, but trust in God that He has a hedge of protection around us. We will have to really stand grounded in our faith as even in the end we need to be preaching the gospel like that lady on the platform.

The Full Assurance of Faith

Heb 10:19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
Heb 10:20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
Heb 10:21 And having an high priest over the house of God;
Heb 10:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
Heb 10:23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
Heb 10:24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Mat 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

--- what stands out to me is we need to exhort one another- love and support each other- provoke one another to love and good works in these times. Let us pray for each other and stand strong in these times.

@Mayflower What an encouraging Epistle is Hebrews indeed! (when one thinks of the times in which the original recipients lived...)
